  1. Hey Rich! Imagine running into you here! :D I have to say though... I got rid of my studio 110, it was nice and compact and decently loud for its very compact size... just didn't get much use next to the LD400. in reality though, i tend to use my studio monitors and HDpro-x more than either... just doing my simple recordings. :) anyway just being conversational... not trying to start an amp measuring contest ;)
  2. The DT only sounds decent for acoustics at lower volumes.... and even that is just tolerable... as in still not good. but you are of course right... was just throwing out the option.
  3. If you're connecting it to a mac, make sure to toggle the settings on the mac as well... from 44.1 to 48, or vice versus.... this has cleared quite a few issues...somehow toggling that resets some internal configs... can't guarantee it will fix... but its worth trying (assuming you are using a mac)
  4. sounds like there is something midi related going on, do you have any other midi settings on your tones or midi devices plugged in?
  5. have you cleaned the bridge saddles? they make a physical connection with the bridge plate for grounding.
  6. have you tried holding the topology and pentode switch together when powering on? (pinch them) hold until the lights stop flashing. worth a try if you haven't already.
  7. if you aren't using it for anything else... you can also just setup the fx loop in the patch first... (or after desired acoustic effects) and run the fx out to the PA.... this gives you a quick bypass of the L6LINK and a near A/B switch type setup
  8. I actually think it looks great... a bit like a vox amp to me.
  9. I don't have any knowledge specifically, but it is still a current product, so i suspect that more updates are possible.
  10. You may not need that kind of wattage or even want to be as loud as an acoustic kit.. if its just for personal and recording use it may not matter. if you want to use them for a rehearsal/performance/jam it may need everyone else to quiet down... which kind of steals some of the fun :) If i was getting the amplifi myself i'd certainly try it!.. just not sure that i'd base a purchasing decision on this as an intended use. i may end up getting one... :) for a number of reasons.. i like the tech part, bluetooth speaker, and "front room" looks for a stealthy practice setup.
  11. I can't imagine it doing much for a e-drum kit (i have the TD8) but i suppose it might be fine if you don't mind keeping the volume under control, I have my vdrums straight into a 1600watt PA and it still wont get acoustic kit loud without sounding like poo.
  12. that's site is so fake... i mean... its a color they don't make... no variax guts.... a wraparound bridge..... and comes from China http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Custom-Line-6-JTV-59-James-Tyler-Variax-Red-Electric-Guitar-Tiger-Flame-Maple-Top/1471505948.html you'll probably get what you ordered... will probably just take a really long time to arrive (as nearly everything from China direct does)
  13. I think the fully implemented HD "engine" gave the models a little bump... but they are indeed the same models as you've stated... some people notice the difference, not quite as dramatic as 1.7 vs 1.8+ but not imagined either. :)
  14. the physics of it... your perception of sound changes by the volume. Also perhaps the output mode is different... for headphones i'd probably set to studio...
  15. did you actually pay for the upgrade? it's not (always)free. updating the software alone will not give you a license to use it. (as in the valid license it found could be for version 1.x only... )
  16. you cant get parts here or from the website... line6 does not sell parts to end users, and does only warranty service in house, so they will not repair your board for you. some service centers will get the parts for you... they are independent... so you may have to try more than 1... since they may only supply parts in which they will install... (thats up to them) so yes... i purposefully linked you to the service centers, because they are the ones that can help you.
  17. well this thread was regarding line6 edit for use with a pod. so gearbox doesn't apply if you're trying to use workbench... i'm afraid you'll have to get the java sorted or use a windows box for workbench.
  18. have you downloaded gearbox? it does not require java. Apple intentionally restricts old versions of Java in the name of security... the older line6 software will not likely be updated. you can research and perhaps restore an old version of java on the mac... no easy task basically involves alot of terminal hacking... you'd have to look that info up on the web though, as it's outside of most users knowledge on this site.
  19. Yes, Studio monitors will do nicely... even if you decide to do some recording.
  20. DO NOT USE THE CD!!!! get the latest... windows 7 probably wasnt even out when the cd was pressed... and windows 8 is newer still :D the latest is 99$ http://line6.com/store/downloads/podfarm
  21. I'm pretty sure that the press release regarding yamaha said that they've agreed on the deal and it wouldn't even be official until they got regulatory approval from SEC etc. (expected mid-january) I'm sure they are planning the transition and future together... but highly unlikely that any of this has affected day to day operations at this point.
  22. everything you need should be here: http://line6.com/software/ start with monkey...
