  1. the legacy page is in regards to the gearbox plugin.... the gearbox editor is still viable... although updates are highly unlikely... it should work. i suspect that you are using a mac from the driver number... i could be wrong.... if thats the case it needs to be an intel mac. if thats the case, i'd contact support, they can probably walk you through this easily.
  2. don't be so quick to take it back... surely thats a big improvement over what you thought it could do... but the looper is kind of a throw in bonus without being a fully featured pro looper.... :)
  3. its not possible... because you cannot send the live feed and the studio feed at the same time.
  4. if it doesn't say FBV on it... it won't work. and the one in the provided picture is not an FBV model (and wont work) sorry.
  5. for what its worth... my interface wouldn't work when i got it... turned out that the included variax cable was bad... plugged up a cat6 cable i had and it worked fine.
  6. Glad you found the forum useful. welcome.
  7. i know you can use the xlr to record anything really. i don't think that it keeps your loops separate though. sounds like you need one of those multitrack recorders and a footswitch honestly.... you could have fun with the looper, i just don't think you'd find it to be an adequate recording solution based on your questions.
  8. you can program the variax the same with either... no difference in programming capability.
  9. the pod has loads of extra features,,, does way more than the interface... needs a VDI cable. (usually costs extra, you can use a regular cat5 for just editing though) the interface does only the workbench stuff with the variax needs a usb cable and a variax/cat5 cable (which usually comes with if you buy new)
  10. exactly right... the pedal works with one or the other, not both... as far as controlling goes
  11. only the newer MKII pedals that have USB built in, work with a PC for midi.
  12. you need either a pod or a workbench interface. you will also need other cables depending on which one you get.
  13. try re-flashing the firmware via midi... although i'm skeptical this will work.. i still think its worth a try... there may also be a small battery or something onboard that needs replaced.... some amps have these types of things...
  14. not really a good option to do this.... you'd have less time and money into just picking up a cheap bass somewhere.
  15. I don't think you can do that... (be happy to be corrected though if i'm wrong) I do think you can run these though: http://www.thetubestore.com/Tubes/EL84-6BQ5-Tube-Types/JJ-EL844-low-power-EL84 not exactly 50% power reduction... more like 25%
  16. you might want to ask support: http://line6.com/company/contact/ (open a ticket) have you tried other "tricks" to see if you get better results? such as assigning the pedal to control the channel volume of the amp rather than assigning it as a volume pedal? (this saves you an FX slot as well)
  17. the last gen pods (x3), were sold as having all the model packs available to the XT pods... so i'm not surprised they didn't expand on it with model packs... they did add like 12 effects or something towards the end... (for free)
  18. I'm optimistic that it will happen at some point... I don't KNOW.... anything... but if they come out with the next big thing, they'll probably do so with some new amp models as a reason for some users to make the jump... it would be free money for them to offer a model pack for sale to current HD-HDx owners... since the models would obviously be ready...
  19. there are no hotfixes for windows 8. Line6 tends to offer cumulative updates so the latest full version of the software has all the fixes in it. with an older interface like yours though, you might try an older version of the driver... just an idea... i've not seen this exact issue before.
  20. Gearbox was replaced by pod farm version 1* (for free) you might download that and give it a try. *for the toneport/pod studios, gearbox is still the editor for XT/X3 devices.
  21. if you paid for the line6 edition, install monkey and use the license manager to recover your licenses. a better plan would be to get a crossgrade from sonoma to get the standard version: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/line6_crossgrade.php never version of the software and comes with a handful of extra drummers.
  22. great ideas, you should post them here so they'll get seen: http://line6.ideascale.com/
  23. I use this for a quick decode on youtube tracks etc... not perfect.. but gives you a decent starting point: http://chordify.net/
  24. I'm going to assume that none of these sega expirements lasted 3 years like the regular HD has... and the HDx versions are pretty much just a hardware revision of the same thing... it's not that different than the ps3 slim... vs the "fat one" (sony did the same for PS2 for years) HDx, really isn't worth upgrading for your average current HD owner...
  25. not entirely true... the feature exists on a DT25... its just solid state... the DT50 boost is done via an additional tube.
