  1. it should have came with ableton too. thats what you should use for audio (reason is more for midi) ableton has some great tutorials built in....
  2. in reality it's only 10 lifetime before you have to call or open a ticket... they will happily reset your count if you call or open a support ticket.
  3. If you're referring to MerlinFL, he was never an expert but did get a variax beta. no other experts got a variax, unless they paid for it. Current or otherwise to my knowledge. (which there really aren't any ex-experts, just some less active ones)
  4. none of us have it.... or have seen it. i tend to think that the marketing is probably beyond hyperbole... can't be that awesome!... but bring it! i'll give it a shot... as long as its not a mobile in sonic turd.
  5. No expert has ever received any free variax guitar. and as often as new gear comes out, we don't get alot of that either... just saying... i think for the most part the experts enjoy what we do... and everything else is gravy.
  6. all variax models are in the variax... the pod will only just switch to it. so yes... the factory presets are in the variax dormant. i think there is a way to reset the guitar manually from the guitar... like hold down a button or whatnot... they were there initially for that reason, at some point they allowed the pod to access them...
  7. right click your setlist, select either 7zip or winrar and make a ZIP archive to attach. the other archive formats will likely be restricted.
  8. if you want help from support, step 1 is contacting support.... http://line6.com/company/contact/ this forum is a user forum, and is not a valid means of contacting support. i recommend following the link above to setup a support ticket and they will certainly try to help you. furthermore... apple changes things... the drivers stay the same... to a much larger extent than you think... so perhaps placing some fault with the source (apple) rather than blindly accepting them as some unchanging gold standard will help you find the source and correct the issues you are having. and yes, i do have and use a mac, as well as a windows machine.
  9. there are basically always 2 sets of models on the original variax... the knob accesses one set the user set "u" the factory set exists but can only be accessed via the pod "f" when using the pod and setting it up to force the variax to pick a model, you can tell it to use either a "u" model or an "f" model so yes you can access them all with a pod. and you can do whatever you want to the "u" models. (alt tune/etc) the "f" models, are what they are, and can be recalled as such via the pod... (can not be modified) this applies to ALL models... in any bank custom or other.
  10. Have you tried contacting support? http://line6.com/company/contact/
  11. buy one of the black SSS 69's and swap necks then sell the "rare" black SSS with rosewood :D
  12. every company stops supporting things eventually... apple does this quite frequently... for example.
  13. don't think there would be much difference.... honestly since you already have a pod farm license, i'd seek another brand interface... much of the cost is the license. that and with a pod farm 2 license it will work hardware independent.. WITH the model packs as well... maybe get an avid or m-audio interface? (@150$) (they tend to have preamps built in that help overall quality) many options though... depends on how much you want to spend and how many inputs you need... i have a tascam us1800, that would probably be overkill coming from a guitarport...
  14. use the pod to select any model... from your custom ones to the factory ones... you can only access the custom ones from the knob... you can access ALL from the pod.
  15. no... your presets are on the knob... the only way to access the unaltered factory ones is by telling the pod to switch to it.... that's the hidden feature.
  16. you can use workbench with a pod HD... BUT.... do not get the new x models... they will not work with the original workbench... (or any version of workbench for the time being) but more or less the tone in the pod... will tell the variax which knob position to select... that's IT... you independent of this... store whatever you want in whatever knob position.... it's not technically MORE presets... but you can access the original unaltered models through the pod.... essentially doubling the number of accessible models.... (half of which you cannot alter)
  17. if you disable the amps on the pod it will switch the DT to channel b... (assuming line6 link) which will work great except you will have no post effects only pre... (since the audio goes one direction)
  18. you can use the pod to change models.... thats all with the original variax. (those models can be alt tuned) tunings cannot be recalled independent of the models when using the original variax. to switch pickups you'd have to have 2 models (or more)... tuned the same.... whatever that tuning is.... (and yes those will take up your slots) the factory models... simply take up space... and you can use them or not use them... but you cannot change them.
  19. the new variax workbench AKA (workbench HD) is used for editing custom patches and saving to the variax. you can change any of the models to whatever you want... the custom slots are there so that you can keep the factory models. anything you change on the non-custom slots you will lose a factory model... maybe you never use the banjos' etc so you can use the slot for something else... all saved to the guitar.... the hd500 can be used to recall a saved preset (it will not store any variax presets)
  20. i always thought that the big selling point was that it renamed all the models to their genuine amp names... but never had a vetta... just thought i read that a long time ago.
  21. the line6 version hasn't been updated in years and won't be... you need to contact riffworks about crossgrading into the standard version: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/line6_crossgrade.php it's not free... but worth it.
  22. check the control panel, for the line6 icon and make sure that the right input is selected.
