  1. you will always have this issue if you are trying to use a different card for In and out.... you HAVE to use the same card (meaning plug into the guitarport) in order for it to work right. there is no fix... because it's not really a problem... you are just trying to use it in an unintended manner.
  2. mostly, its a graphical difference... behind the scenes though edit was made in java and gearbox either VB or C++ i find gearbox to be more stable and modern... there are a few things that edit does that gearbox doesn't... very obscure things.... but the good news is that you can have both installed, and use whichever one you like.
  3. you can use the current FBV MKII (or its earlier non MKII version) which would do alot more. I think it did come with the amp 1/2 switch, but you'd likely have a hard time finding the original... however, i believe that it was just a standard latching footswitch, so you should be able to use many alternatives.
  4. glad you sorted it out, not surprised i got the name wrong! been a while since i used edit.
  5. okay so what you are saying is that you have real issues with your variax... (the fact that it was made in 2011 is largely irrelevant) if you are at the 7 month mark, I highly recommend you pursue warranty repair immediately... all of the issues you linked to are known issues and can be fixed. there are really no further assistance you can get from the forums, other than some users perhaps recommending new necks or taking apart yourself... none of which i would pursue if you still have a valid warranty... in fact it would not surprise if the neck issue in particular would be addressed regardless of the warranty status. I do not know this for a fact, but the neck issues have been acknowledged as an issue from the factory. in any case.... find and contact a service center: http://line6.com/service_centers/ or open a support ticket and those guys will hepl you get this resolved. http://line6.com/support/tickets/
  6. the fact that you have a 2011 rather than a 2012 guitar is not in and of itself a problem..... no idea what you mean by tremolo intonation (2 unrelated things) or nut capo (2 also unrelated things) the threads that you link to, are other peoples issues and if you're worried you "might" have them... that's just being silly... you either have the issues or you don't.
  7. the old forums didn't work... they got crippled by some spambots.. i think this is much better... but its completely different software... not the latest and greatest...version of the old software.
  8. there should be a save or put option in the memory window... been a while since i used edit though... gearbox is much newer and works with the xt also.
  9. that's why i prefer the boss (and probably other non-L6 loopers) because they have the built-in rhythm/metronome and quantize.
  10. thats why i was particular about saying hardware, because i knew that they changed the way they did the wiring around the trem. some really early ones, i may have read, took a different trem bar... do you have an issue of some sort?
  11. that issue was fixed in the latest firmware update (2.04) have you updated?
  12. no... but if you stay within the same tone and just turn off the delay the trails stay... switch tones and its lost.
  13. i've used an m5 similarly with the HD500... and it was as simple as hooking it all up via midi and making the changes (turn it on/off select preset) and hitting save on the hd500. try doing that and save 2 identical tones right next to each other, for example 1A effects on, 1B effects off. no guarantee, because i don't have your exact equipment... but it worked flawlessly with the m5.
  14. that may be much the same thing... considering it would no doubt be a smaller power supply that say a desktop pc... except of course you have no battery and can't unplug it... i still suspect the power supply, but no way to test it really....
  15. the trails option only allows trails from the effects loop on the pod... it basically mutes the loop in will accepting the loop return... so unless you want trails from non-pod gadgets in the loop that setting won't help.
  16. when the tuner is engaged one of the small knobs will mute/unmute, and it will remember your selection.
  17. why not just turn the fxloop off? then it is basically engaged but not used.
  18. monkey will always show pod farm 2... doesn't mean you have a license for it.... you DO have a license for pod farm *1* and yes... platinum. (all ux8's do)
  19. First thing i'd recommend is exchanging it while you can. honestly, i've seen people mess with it until the exchange option has passed and then have to take it to service... that kind of sucks for a new guitar... if however you bought it used or cannot otherwise exchange it, then certainly get it serviced. http://line6.com/service_centers/
  20. sounds like you're trying to run pod farm2... (because pod farm 1 does not have a limited mode) not every ux8 came with pod farm 2 depending on when it was purchased.... i suspect if you installed and used the latest pod farm 1 version, everything would be unlocked.
  21. funny thing is that i'm having the exact opposite experience with my tascam us-1800 works great on the mac... but blows chunks in windows... that is on the exact same machine using bootcamp... every other windows machine has been problem free though.
  22. if you're computers a laptop... unplug the power supply... if the buzz disappears you have a bad power supply.
  23. get the FBV shortboard MKII not the express.... it's the best board available for the pod HD's
  24. you can probably find one for the HD500+G50 as i'm sure the G50 is DC...
