  1. no, you can change those settings in pod edit and it will send whatever you want.... but nothing you do in dt edit will affect operation over L6LINK
  2. As far as I know there is no DT update. But it should work fine with the new pre models or full models anyway. You just won't likely be able to use the new models with the DT amps without the pod.
  3. easy question.... that's where guitars are the most obvious.... all other genres don't hype the gear and players to that extent. if your into jazz or blues... you'd probably be more into rocking 30-40 year old gear than worried about cutting edge stuff... generally speaking... cant say that applies to anyone here... we're obviously a bit different than that stereotype... but it does make sense... i'm certainly no fan of the bees in a can metal bands...
  4. I can't say never as i don't actively see the service center stuff... but never see that kind of issue posted on the forums. that's not to say it's impossible and i understand the concern... but a service center would be a more thorough place to get information from. i'm sure they can answer some questions for you over the phone.
  5. for the most part... the fuses are designed to catch "too hot" before it becomes a real problem... if you're not blowing fuses i dont think you are at a critical level.... as a precaution if you care to bother... take it to a tech get it retubed and biased. may yield some tonal improvements as well... i don't think it's required... but wouldnt hurt.
  6. pack availability will depend on your pod... we should start seeing them for the x models within the next couple of months, and the non x models soon after. not likely to be managed by monkey... more likely the license manager component... although that's a guess. and i agree with silverhead... likely to be line6 online purchases only and not retailer available.
  7. they run hot as all tube amps... but don't know of any specific temperature range.
  8. yes you want the update. the update fixes a wrong configuration with the boost tube on the AC30 model.... adds a few behind the scenes fixes for L6Link (switches better, less pop, etc) and allows you to use the reverb on the DT amp, and save the DSP on the pod.... that can open up alot more tone options. the m-audio uno is the most notably reliable interface to do the update... BUT... the midi on your interface can possibly work. should be as simple as opening monkey and telling it to change device since it will probably have the pod selected.
  9. the DT amps change far more than amp channels.. it has relays and changes the physical operation of the amp itself internally... the power amp in fact... is not modeled at all! the closest you can get is just to go into the spider on the effects loop return and just use the full pod models... then you won't need to exercise any specific controls...
  10. by all means call them have them look at the serial number of your amp... the bad transformers are in a known range... so they will tell you if you need the fix.... worth getting it done ahead of time if needed... but i don't think that heat is a symptom of the transformer issue... mine was working fine and just popped a fuse one day when i turned it on... replaced the fuse and they kept popping... sent it in... they did the transformer, tubes, and a bias.. been great since.
  11. if you have both the xlr's and the spdif connected you can record both at the same time... so you have dry (i'd mute this) and wet.. that way you can use it 100% as performed or re-amp it after the fact. yes you'll hear everything since it would still be your current interface in this scenario, whatever it does now will continue to be true.
  12. yes, same model packs that all of the pod HD users will be able to get (except 300/400 owners)
  13. it is all just a label... just like the labeling on the packs... its just a name... one pack contains the JC120 and one doesn't. get whatever pack that has an amp you want.... in the case of you wanting metal amp + JC120 i'd just get the triple pack for the same price. that's like complaining that your meatloaf tv dinner didnt include the brownie... and now you have to by country fried chicken dinner and the meatloaf dinner to get the brownie.... crappy analogy for sure... but in other words... that's the way it's packaged. and it is what it is.
  14. the bulletin has to do with a bad transformer... if your not blowing fuses and your amp turns on... you do not have issues related to this bulletin. for the rest.... call with your serial number and i'm sure they will answer your questions...
  15. i would get the pro for recording... that's how i use mine. and i would use your interface with a pair of xlr's and the SPDIF because you can have the spdif sending the dry signal for use with plugins after the fact.... this workflow is really useful when you want to change things up after the fact without really re-performing the track. you could leave it all plugged up and plug a mic in the pod when needed (you can simply record the spdif input to get the dry mic, or add pod affects if you wanted) you can also have the usb connected to the pod and use edit etc. i use very nearly the same setup and DAW.
  16. yes just open a support ticket or call during business hours: http://line6.com/company/contact/
  17. depends on what you are trying to record... or what you may record in the future.. i used a tascam 1800 for a long time.. and now use a UAD apollo. tascam makes many lower models too (less inputs/features) like 6 makes a few too the GX, UX1, and UX2, looking up any of those should give you an idea of what you're looking for.... but depending on your needs and your budget there's a ton of options out there.
  18. no sound travels through midi.... you'll need another interface.
  19. Sad, let me be the first to invite him back if he reads this. a good dude. Not that i agree with anyone all the time... but his input was always valued.
  20. tonewise very nearly identical other than the for mentioned DSP bump. I have both, and i'm able to use them both to equal benefit.... i don't like to bury my tone under a world of effects though... so the DSP is only a minor concern for me. (cause i do like that DSP hungry 63 spring verb)
  21. they have a JTV69 that fits the bill now.... maybe not what you meant... but didn't want that to be overlooked if the maple neck was your sole hold up.
  22. that update is not out yet..... and even if it was... the new model's are not free and you won't likely see them until you purchase the model packs.
  23. I uninstalled cubase 6 long ago as you can see its not on my dock. Some people like it, i did not.
  24. i liked the idea of individual amps.... but the powers that be, chose another route.
