  1. you can install both.... the benefit to v1 is that it maintains compatibility with the x3 for the most part... tones created on v2+ you will most likely not be able to use on the x3.... so if that 2 way compatibility is important... better to stick with v1
  2. he knows... thats why he said it *IS* the same... with the components that were available... meaning yes... the original chips were no longer available... yes the new chips have a little more power.... no it's not something completely new... or it would be the hd600 or hd501 it's basically a hd500 with a hardware refresh which = hd500x but it was never a completely new device or marketed as an upgrade to hd500 owners...
  3. Line6 does not respond in the forums... the forums are for users.... if you want to hear from line 6 call or open a support ticket http://line6.com/company/contact/
  4. support will never just randomly contact you.... if you need them... .contact them: http://line6.com/company/contact/
  5. jet city have had something like this for years: http://www.jetcityamplification.com/#!retrovalves/ctjr
  6. it is an upgrade in the fact that it's a more affordable version... the HD500X was never EVER advertised as an upgrade to the HD500, in fact it was plainly stated that it was a hardware refresh... the internal processors of the original were no longer available, so they went with the next best which happened to offer a little bit more power. while doing this they chose to enhance the footswitches as well.... the HD500X will never get any models that the HD500 doesn't get.... and the hd500x got all the models the hd500 got, with none of the wait..... be unhappy and bitter if you want.... but Line6 is not a non-profit organization, and i think that the model packs are a much more reasonable approach than coming out with something completely new and having everyone "upgrade". which they will of course eventually do... but this way... your current hardware usefulness and capabilities are extended preserving your possible future resale or at the very least making more options available to you.
  7. this thread is a year and a half old.... you can't rely on this being the same issue... if you're serious about getting help with your current issue... contact support. http://line6.com/company/contact/
  8. Line6 doesn't even know you have a problem if you've not contacted them: http://line6.com/company/contact/
  9. i think you need at least a spider valve mkII to use the downloaded tones and editor....
  10. I'm not positive, but i think you need a spider valve mkII at a minimum to use the downloaded tones and computer editor.
  11. what?! the hd500 didnt get anything that the hd500x doesnt have they have been selling model packs for the pod XT and pod farm for the better part of the last decade. and.... you don't HAVE to buy anything... you bought it because you liked what it offered... it's still offering all that.
  12. its coming with the model pack.... but the model pack will require the firmware update... so a little bit of both..... but its 50$ if you want the pack with the JC120 only... a couple other packs coming as well.
  13. no difference except the usb on the express pedals..... couple more footswitches on the shortboard MKII... that doesnt apply to your question... just for your information.
  14. i wouldn't recommend doing any such thing... the volume and dynamic differences are accurate to the model, modeled. you'd basically be neutering the difference between the models to a large degree for no real reason.... because you'd use the real guitar by making equipment adjustments somewhere else in the chain... and they all affect the end sound.... do what you want... but in my opinion, it's a really bad idea.
  15. go here: https://line6.com/account/personalinfo/ edit and change your username.
  16. they will work together fine... you just cant use the MKI pedal to update the amp... or connect to a computer... but the buttons will pretty much do what they are labeled to do... the footboard is just a controller... read and learn the manual for the amp... and the floorboard will be very easy and obvious.
  17. its available and its fine for most users.... it just simply wont be updated any more... not going away... just at the is what it is point in its life.... its never been renamed or anything like what you suggest... there are just other programs available.
  18. thats the only announced feature..... stay tuned... :)
  19. last word was end of march for the X models... and a few weeks later for 500/bean/pro
  20. you really should read a thread before you reply.... you need to contact line6... no one on the forums can help you.
  21. i'm not sure if there is some sort of board that connects that knobs or whatnot that would need adjusted.... never taken mine apart
  22. it's not confirmed at this point... but it is widely assumed that they will follow the existing licensing scheme they use for the older model packs.... which means up to 4 devices.... but we won't be certain until release.
  23. it's all speculation... they've never said that they wouldn't.... they simply havent... and we're speculating on the reasons why... at one point i think it was even said in a forum post by someone at Line6 that they were working on a lefty... that was quite a while ago... and it just hasn't happened. hope it works out for you eventually... all of us here are just trying to make sense of it... we honestly don't know any more than you do...
  24. there's not going to be a solution on the forums... you'll need to contact Line6 or Reason... line6 info here: http://line6.com/company/contact/
