  1. as silverhead pointed out... you have to design your tone around this.... it's not a system setting etc.. you have to keep the paths separated within the tone.
  2. unless i'm misunderstanding your request... you can do this now....
  3. 1. go here pull down software menu, select "Variax Workbench" then operating system: http://line6.com/software/ 2. wasn't suggesting... just sounded like you had one.. the interface will work fine. A. not the case, although i do think that the pod's interface is more convenient. B. sometimes it's features, fixes, sound upgrades etc... you'd have to look at all the upgrades between where you are and the last... you should be able to use the guitar as is for most things... you might have to have the latest firmware update to be compatible with the latest variax workbench... so you really should do it.
  4. another user found these: http://www.axetec.co.uk/guitar_parts_uk_036.htm (the MH315) from this thread: http://line6.com/support/topic/11146-for-those-that-want-locking-tuners-on-their-jtv59/
  5. yes the 300 uses variax workbench (not workbench HD) and has been capable of using a variax enabled pod for a decade.... unless of course you have the HD500x or HD Pro X support for the older variaxes was dropped... in which case you do need the interface. however... you should still be able to flash the firmware with the pod... just not use variax workbench.
  6. there's a cable into the sonicport VX and a cable out of the sonicport VX, i dont think this was an option on the original sonicport.
  7. there's really never been an update.... the m5 came out years after the m13, and got those years worth of updates before it was released.
  8. the pod has worked with the older variaxes for years..... try using the pod...
  9. if you're talking about the original spider 50watt 112 the FBV pedals are not compatible... you need an older floorboard or FB4 (not FBV4) http://l6c-acdn.line6.net/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593561ea81/application/pdf/Spider%20User%20Manual.pdf
  10. i have the LD400 pro, for the most part the FBV express is probably what you want. you can access more preset locations with the FBV shortboard, but 4 is plenty for my bass needs.... as far as the MKII models... they really don't add anything extra that the Lowdown amps would use... you can use any FBV pedal really... MKI/MKII or even the long discontinued Longboard. and they will all work. (i believe even FBV2/FBV4 would give you some basic functions) they are likely not listed, because they are not made any more or available for purchase... i'm confident that they will work though.
  11. as long as you logged into the license manager with the account that you purchased the model packs with.. should authorize after the fact... i suspect that you may need to make sure firmwares etc are up to date.
  12. lots of people having the issue including myself... but this fixed it: http://line6.com/support/topic/9239-cant-update-line-6-monkey-on-mac-osx-yosemite/?do=findComment&comment=75923
  13. as long as you sign in and authorize with your account... you can authorize up to 4 devices/computers at once. so yes you can. keep in mind that authorizing your computer doesnt do you any good unless you paid extra for a pod farm 2.5+ license... the license that came with your device is tied to the device... so if you unplug it you lose the license... meaning the computer auth wont do you any good... in your scenario... using it with another line6 device it will work fine with the device plugged in.
  14. yes you need asio driver (no driver needed for a mac though) no you can't tweak the FBV pedals... they are hardwired, hardware controllers... the usb/computer software allows you to do that because the running program translates from the hardwired setting to desired setting. this will not likely happen on any of their hardware devices.. (FBV boards have been around over a decade... they would have already done it if it was feasible)
  15. It's probably better to keep it, especially if you have pod farm licenses or model packs associated with it... 200$ would be top of the mark if you try to sell it.... technology just doesn't keep value like save guitars, etc...
  16. none of it will work unless the x3 is plugged in and turned on... the X3 owns the license and it needs to be on to authenticate. unless you buy a license separately this is just the way it works. gearbox plugin is long unsupported but likely had the same requirement. and yes... that's the way it works... unless you buy the standalone pod farm license.
  17. you probably just need to select all operating systems on the download screen.... gearbox hasn't been updated and wont be updated... (its legacy) but if you select all operating systems you should be able to find the latest download that will work on newer windows... (not supported but should work fine) if you have a mac, you might have a bit more trouble making it work... seems some users have got it to work with Yosemite.... but not a simple install.... again... no longer supported... but it is there to be had....
  18. you really don't want to use that cable... its crazy short and buying a cable with the correct ends on it is much less expensive than replacing or servicing your gear because of damaged ports.
  19. you can.... you just need to select separate tracks in your DAW assigned with the proper MONO input.
  20. correct but really not that hard.... just record a loop in pre mode... and play that while following what i posted a minute ago... then just switch presets, adjust channel volume, save... switch preset, start over....
  21. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/dt50dt25/dt50dt25-faq-r144 direct from the source: Q: What is the Bias Spec on the DT50's EL34 power tubes? A: 36 mV +/- 1 mV. Q: What is the Bias Spec on the DT25's EL84 power tubes? A: 25 mV +/- 3 mV.
  22. leave the master volume alone! i'd set it at about 2 o'clock and make my adjustments. this give you room to go higher and lower... "overall" set the regular volume and save the tone.... some you will turn up and some you will turn down... doing it this way will ultimately have the master volume adjust all tones at one time (relative to where you saved them) this will make switching between them much easier... the mix of volumes that you are hearing is because people don't know things like this... but also because their environments and requirements are different.
  23. you can use a standard insert cable.. 1/4" TRS to 2x 1/4" TS
