  1. Have you downloaded the latest version of WorkBench? It was updated 3/30/17. -Support for Variax connection through Helix (Helix firmware 2.20 or later required)
  2. Lots of good info here http://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3e07b158e5548ea50d4/application/pdf/Helix%20LT%20Owner's%20Manual%20-%20English%20.pdf
  3. I don't think you have to do that. I'd have to double check, but, I think Exp 1 is Wah by default and Exp 2 is Volume by default, or vice versa. So it just toggles.

    Helix Talkbox

    Now, there's a cool idea.
  5. Madness? Maybe. The short answer is yes, Helix is a full blown MIDI controller. I don't have any experience with Fractal, so, I can't speak to Fractal specifics. Here is a link to MIDI control for a Marshall JVM using PC messages. You probably have a MIDI command matrix for Fractal rather than Fractal having to learn the MIDI messages, so, that part probably doesn't apply. But, this should give some ideas. http://line6.com/support/topic/28901-marshall-jvm-channel-switching-with-helix-midi/?hl=midi

    Snapshot Delete

Not really. There is no such thing as an "empty" Snapshot. Every Preset has eight Snapshots, each being a duplicate of the first. In each Snapshot you can modify the state and/or parameters of the component blocks. You can't copy a Snapshot into another Preset. You can recreate that Snapshot in another Preset, but, only if that Preset contains all of the same blocks. All Snapshots within a Preset will always have the exact same blocks. You can't have a Snapshot with blocks a, b and c and another Snapshot with blocks c, d and e. You can add any missing blocks that you need for the Snapshot you want to use to a Preset and then alter the state and/or parameters for what you need.
  7. It will drive anything you want to put under it. I've used a 4x12 of Greeenbacks, but, typically a 1x12. I had a Gold in the 1x12, but, now have a Vintage 30.
  8. Well, hell. I hate to see you give up. Like everyone has said, it's not the Helix, it's just a matter of getting it dialed-in. For what it's worth, it seems folks around here have kinda takin' a liken' to ya and are trying hard to help you work through it. Maybe you could post/attach the presets you are using so we can see what you got. Best of luck with whatever you decide.
  9. I love my DSL40C. I love it so much I split into a head cabinet. I haven't tried the DSL with the Helix as I've been concentrating on a "live" setup with a DXR. There is no reason the DSL shouldn't sound as awesome as always with the Helix in 4CM. The channel switching on the DSL is standard TRS, so, that should work with the Helix with no issues. Maybe you could borrow your friend's DSL for a couple days and give it a good run.
  10. Can you use Snapshots instead of changing Presets?
  11. I said Behringer because that is what you use at church and it is within you budget. I said Alto because a lot of people like them and brag on them and they are within your budget. I have never played the Altos, but, a lot of people will tell you they are the best bang for the buck.
  12. These would be my first two choices. Not necessarily in that order.
  13. I don't see where you answered the question "Is everyone else going direct and coming through the monitors as well?" If everyone else is using amps, you will probably be better off using your amp. If everyone is going through the PA, you may want to try dialing in your tones, at home, using the same speaker/wedge you use at rehearsal. Dialing in your tones, at home, with the Hot Rod Deluxe and then running direct to the PA, at rehearsal, is going to yield radically different tonal results.
  14. Everyone's suggestions are spot on. More specifically, to your settings that you outlined above: It doesn't make logical sense to have low and high cuts in two different places. As suggested above, the global eq would mainly be used for minor eq tweaks for room to room. So, that is going to change from room to room or may not be needed at all. I would suggest turning global eq Off. You can use the high/low cuts in the speaker/IR blocks, like you have, but, most folks are finding they like the sonic result better by adding a separate high/low cut eq block immediately after the amp/cab/IR block and not using high/low cuts in the speaker/IR block. Any cuts you make lower than 100 hz is really encroaching on your bass players sonic space and will quickly turn into a muddy mess. I would suggest a low cut no lower than 100 hz or slightly higher. Your high cut seems a little extreme. I would suggest a high cut no lower than 8k hz. Of course, this is just a suggestion. There are no hard an fast rules. Do what your ears tell you to do.
  15. Push the knob, when you start to turn it you will see brackets appear around the parameter value. From that point on the parameter value will save per snapshot. You don't have to push the knob after that.
  16. Totally agree. Sound reinforcement is a field/art/science in itself. If you don't learn it, you don't get it.
  17. I was impressed that the zippers look like they are waterproof. I've only seen one person that any trouble with them and Line 6 replaced the Backpack.
  18. As @Joepeggio says, to be able to remerge path 1B with 1A. You do not want change the FOH eq, volume etc. That is a disaster waiting to happen.
  19. I've had this problem in a different scenario and found it to be the USB cable.
  20. This is exactly why I bought the exact same speaker for my Helix as I have for my PA. Seems like a no brainer. I dunno.
  21. I spent two days researching cases for the Helix. I could not find anything that had the right dimensions, substantial padding and ample storage. I ordered the Helix Backpack and soooooo glad I did. I am very impressed with it. It is extremely well made. It is super padded. The Helix fits like a glove. And it has tons of storage. It is obvious that a comparable amount of thought went into the Helix Backpack as went into the Helix itself. Don't waste your time or money looking for something else. Get the real deal.
  22. Yamaha has rebates going on until the end of September. That would be $100 rebate on a DXR12.
