  1. Just to clarify, you're saying if you bypass the block in, say Snapshot 1, and leave that for Snapshot 2, and come back to Snapshot 1, the block is longer bypassed? Because bypassing the block while in Snapshot 1 will set that block to be bypassed in that Snapshot, not all of them, even if the Snapshots Edit parameter is set to recall. I personally have not had any issues with this, and I've set up a bunch of presets with snapshots after the 2.10 update. I'm kind of wondering if this isn't a misunderstanding of the expected behavior. Also, note, that if you have a block set to auto-engage via an expression pedal, and have the EXP Position parameter for that pedal set to anything but "per snapshot", that can lead to unexpected bypass behavior in snapshots. It can also lead to parameters tied to the expression pedals not being at the values saved with the specific snapshots. The position of the pedal will override the bypass state in the snapshot in that case.
  2. Just to clarify one thing about this - if you're using an external pedal plugged into the EXP2 jack, you won't run into the EXP1/EXP2 bug at all. You don't need to worry about doing any special to any of your presets. They'll continue working as they were. In a sense, using an external pedal is a workaround. But workaround isn't quite the right term, because you would never even know there was an issue if you always used an external pedal. Actually, that's probably one reason the issue slipped through beta testing.
  3. You should just be happy that you can name snapshots at all... :D That wasn't originally the plan. It's easy to get spoiled by what we have available with the Helix. No comparably priced piece of gear really comes close. It's kind of funny to me that for other company's products (ahem...) there are people making a big deal about having laser cut tags available for the footswitches... Personally, I will say that I have found having the camera icons does help when playing live, because it gives you an immediate cue as to what mode you're in. They did add the feature that you can assign custom colors to the LED rings around the switches for each snapshot. So that is another way for a visual cue.
  4. Actually, no, the tap tempo LED always flashes to what the current BPM is. The thing is you can easily have multiple effects in a preset with the time or rate value set to different note subdivisions.

    USB

I believe so... Why do you ask? If you're trying to hook up Helix for the first time either to just use the editor or update, you need to search for the Helix app here (leave the first pulldown blank, and just select Helix in the second one), and download the package and install it. It will give you everything you need. It installs not only the editor, but the Helix drivers, and the Line 6 Updater application.

    My Helix is dead

The flash file is the actual file that contains the firmware. When you run the Line 6 Updater application in the usual mode, it goes out to the internet and downloads that file in the background. It then sends that file to the Helix over USB. To install the firmware manually, you use the same Line 6 Updater app, you just use it offline mode, and load the file from your computer. It just makes it so the Updater doesn't have to connect to the internet.

If by "manual firmware update", yes you can do it. You have to download the flash file (2.10 flash file for floor unit is here), save it somewhere on your computer, and then hit button that says "offline mode" in the Line 6 Updater application. You'll see a browse button where you can find the file you just downloaded. That being said, I don't know if that will help in your case. Usually with this error, people have success using another USB port or another computer. Are you using a USB hub?
  8. I was actually going to create a new Ideascale entry for this, but this one already exists, so vote it up! http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/BPM-Display/826020-23508
  9. Right now, the fastest to see it is to just touch the tap footswitch with your finger - it will bring up the tempo screen (assuming you have the capacative touch feature turned on). I do agree with you, though, it would be nice if the tempo showed up on the home screen somewhere. Or perhaps on the scribble strip above the tap tempo switch while you were tapping...
  10. The "headroom" parameter was added to this effect in the 2.10 update to deal with this. If you hear clicking, you're clipping the block. Turn the headroom parameter up to make it go away. If this is in a preset you made prior to the 2.10 update, you'll have to delete the block and re-insert in order for this parameter to show up.
  11. Huh? You can reduce the sample rate (and the bit rate) in be Vintage Delay.
  12. The Vintage Delay model is a bit crusher delay.
  13. The most glaring deficiency in the Helix... The lack of a Korg Miku model...
  14. If the pedal is in heel position, I could actually see this being a case of the pedal moving a little bit. What percentage do you have the auto-engage set to? I don't think it's uncommon for there to be a little bit of "play" in the on-board pedal position.
  15. Exactly... No one is making people do the update. If you're touring or whatever, why mess with something that's working the way you need it to? Honestly, if I were playing out a lot, I probably wouldn't update right away. Back in the day when I was playing out quite a lot with the PODxt, I put off updating for months just because I was busy and my stuff was working the way I needed it to. So why bother with it? Professional musicians make the best out of the tools at their disposal. They don't generally spend their time whining on forums.
  16. On the editor screen or on the Helix screen itself?
  17. It still seems to me that these issues involving values changing on their own seem to be pretty sporadic. I haven't necessarily seen widespread reports of it happening - just a few here and there. I have never personally had it happen, and I use auto-engage. Note the last line of the release notes for the 2.10 firmware: - In very rare cases, corrupted presets containing a Volume/Pan > Volume Pedal block can cause volume to drop to 0%. In such cases, completely clear the Volume Pedal block and add again. If the same preset exhibits this behavior again, please contact Line 6 Customer Service and be ready to email us the raw preset so we can analyze it Tells me that Line 6 hasn't been able to isolate this as a repeatable bug with a given recipe, but they are thinking it has more to do with corrupt presets or something like that.
  18. I have seen somewhat similar issue come up in my particular part of the world involving UL and LED light fixtures. When UL tests and approves a fixture, they test and approve the whole thing - the LED chips, boards, driver, housing, etc. The thing with LED fixtures is that the vast majority of companies who make them don't make their own drivers (a driver is basically a power supply), so they are beholden to OEM manufacturers. Well, there have been some instances where a driver manufacturer suddenly discontinued a driver, and therefore, the whole fixture is suddenly now not UL listed. The NEC doesn't necessarily require UL listing (it requires some sort of listing with local code officials being able to decide what that is) but most local code officials do. So I have seen code official reject shipments of light fixtures because the driver they were shipped with was different than what was on the original spec... So yeah, unfortunately, it's the regulatory world we live in now.
  19. Are you using the latest version of the editor (2.10)?
  20. What mode are you in? Stomp Mode? Are you connected to the Editor? Did you do the Global Reset after performing the update? Sorry for answering your question with a bunch of questions, but just need some more details before I can give you any type of meaningful reply.
  21. Just writing this because I've seen this come up a few times here and on Facebook now... When doing the update, you actually don't need to download the newest version of updater, at least not directly. Just download the application called "Helix". This download includes the latest Updater file and will re-install that along with the Helix editor application.
  22. I think the issue with the Microsoft browsers has to with this: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb165026(v=vs.90).aspx Microsoft apparently sees the .hxf extension as some other file type and is trying to open it as if were that.
  23. What OS and browser are you using? It sounds as if it's trying to open the actual flash file rather than download it. Do you get to the page where you have the two links that say "DECLINE" and "ACCEPT AND DOWNLOAD"?
  24. Percentage-wise, how many guitarists are "electrically aware"? Probably not a ton... Something that seems simple to you could easily be daunting to most other people. The other thing I see here is that you're kind of assuming that whatever is done with a new Variax, that it will maintain the same controls as far as the model knob and alt tuning knob. I wouldn't be surprised if Line 6 doesn't decide to update things on that front as well. So it might just be that trying to give an upgrade path might limit them in ways they don't want to be limited.
