Hi, First thing to try is the factory reset options to see if it will blow the bugs out. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. If the Factory reset fails then follow these instructions: First go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select Helix, then leave the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" as it is, now select your Mac OS from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, then click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.01 for your Helix, then below that you will also need the Firmware 3.01 Flash Memory. Now scroll right the way down the page where you will find Line 6 Updater version 1.9. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Ensure that HX Edit is closed and that you have your Helix connected to your PC by USB cable (do not use a hub) and hold down Foot Switches 6&12 while turning the power on. This will put your Helix into “Safe Boot” mode, and you may see a black, or error screen, but just keep going. Now, disconnect from the internet, or any other applications that may be running, and launch the Updater Utility that you downloaded and then select "Offline Mode". Your Helix and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - click “Choose File”, point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. Do not allow your computer to enter “sleep/power saving mode” during the update. When it completes you can install the new HX Edit v.3.01 software and you should be good to go. Should your iMac fail to detect your Helix, power down the Helix and your Mac, remove the Power and USB cable from the Helix and wait about 10 minutes then reconnect everything and reboot your Mac and power up the Helix while holding down FS6&12. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Well the first rule of Helix club, is there are no rules. Actually, what I mean is - there is no right or wrong way to creating a preset in Helix world, as opposed to the real world, where you might fry something, or electrocute yourself. That sound you mention happening in your DAW would probably be best created using a dual pitch shift block. Very small amounts of shift should do the job. Try shifting each side, anywhere from 2 to 12 cents, one side +, the other -, for example right -8 cents and left +7 cents the adjust the time by just a few milliseconds (10 to 12 to start, but keep it short) on each to suit. You really just need to play around with it until you find what is good for you. IIRC, There was a short thread on here that discusses creating a “natural chorus” effect using dual pitch. In fact here it is. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Aw, fuggit - I’m gonna get me one of these muthas. Yeah, I”m kidding! That has to be one of the funniest promos - ever! Who the hell did that voice over?

Damn right, well, certainly you’ve got to be careful with something like them especially considering the price of the thing. Honest Opinion hit on a few of the things that are not quite right on the QC. Example: a single icon type for a capture. How are you supposed to keep track of if it is a cab, amp, overdrive etc.? Also the amps and cabs are separate items, and it seems an awkward way to select a matching pair of items. I haven’t seen anything about after sales, spares and repairs (should they be needed). For me, it’s still a work in progress. Pete Thorn did a good video of a capture from one of his JMP 50 amps and a Kokoboost pedal. It might be worth a look, if you haven’t seen it already. He seems to like it, but really he was only demoing the capture side of things, and they required a little tweaking. Personally, the way you are considering using it, seems to be an expensive option, if you will be mainly using it for “capture” and the onboard amps and cabs yet utilising the HXFX for the effects. I am going to stand back from this thing until we get to see it being properly used and abused, out in the real world. Each to their own, as they say.

After watching this - NO. I’m not that impressed, considering all the hype. Also, I’m not sure if there is a tuner in the editor?

Can I monitor Helix USB tracks OUTSIDE of DAW in Windows?
datacommando replied to thedudeabides79's topic in Helix
Dude, you really could do with getting your attitude readjusted. You obviously didn’t read what I posted. I said, that you do not need to load a song in a DAW, use YouTube or whatever. But, hey - I can expect nothing better from someone who wants to listen to the sound from computer speakers. Ye gods - I despair! https://line6.com/support/topic/33493-usb-audio-question/ -
Can I monitor Helix USB tracks OUTSIDE of DAW in Windows?
datacommando replied to thedudeabides79's topic in Helix
That’s perfectly normal - I don’t understand why you might think it is complicated. You don’t mention what computer you are using, but it doesn’t particularly matter, because you could load up YouTube, find a backing track and play along. On a Mac with iTunes I can jam along with any track that I choose to playback. You managed to totally confuse me, also “rd2rk” and yourself.Too many White Russians? Just do it. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
I hope you have noticed how quiet it has become in here over the past couple of weeks since Frank shouted out for people to join the Beta test crew over on TGP.
-
As the comment above, from “DunedinDragon”, the EQ block would be more functional after the amp/cab block. Easy to fix.
-
This is totally confusing. It's in to the left mono and out from the right mono. What is "in" to the L/MONO ? I guess you mean a bass guitar cable to the INPUT marked L/MONO as you mentioned preset for bass. What is supposed to be coming "out from the RIGHT mono". (NB: There is no Right Mono option) and where is it going? You mentioned Cubase, but how does the audio arrive in Cubase? Questions, too many questions. and not nearly enough answers. Let us see what you have got going on in the preset and please explain how your HX Stomp communicates with the DAW?

Oh, in that case - here's a little reading on the subject. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8nynknyencnvqar/The Unofficial Helix MIDI Guide.pdf?dl=0 Enjoy. Hope this helps/makes sense

Shame that Maplin folded, because you could usually get things like this from them. Anyhow, I’m not sure that RC components or CPC stock the part you need but these guys have them. https://beatbars.com/en/trs-extension-reversed.html They are based in Poland and after Brexit, I’m not certain that things like this are subject to import duty. I know it has all changed with Thomann and Bax. Possible find a local sparky to wire a cable for you. I almost certain there is a U.K. company doing custom cables. EDIT: I have had stuff from these guys - maybe check them out. https://www.designacable.com Hope this helps/makes sense.

If you have set your Stomp to receive MIDI clock signal from an external device, then I would expect it to ignore any other tap input. Imagine the chaos that could happen if the Stomp is slaved to an external clock, but the you accidentally hit the onboard Tap switch. This explains MIDI sync. https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/how-to-sync-midi-devices/ Hope this helps/makes sense.

New cable then, or get the soldering iron out. ;-)

I realise that you are using the switching capability of the DMC, but the idea is to test the expression pedal in isolation. This will show if it works as expected directly into the Stomp. If everything is good then there may be a need to swap the wiring polarity from the pedal to the micro switch, or if there may be something not right with how the Disaster Area box is functioning. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
That is exactly what “phil_m” suggested about a week back, when he also said - “This is a confirmed bug”.
-
If you need to reverse the polarity of your pedal, you can do that from the Global Settings on your HX Stomp. HX Stomp 3.0 Owner’s Manual - page 52 https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4112bbf5fb6a519e8b18/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev C - English .pdf I suggest that for the purposes of testing the pedal, connect it directly to the Stomp and eliminate the DMC micro from the equation. That should show where the problem lies. Hope this helps/makes sense.

reamping with Logic. Volume is insanely loud through monitors
datacommando replied to andymguitar's topic in Helix
Yep, if you have your powered monitors on the XLR out, and under the Global Settings you have the output set on Multi, then the big volume knob controls the listening volume and giving you zero latency while listening to your processed signal both into and out of Logic. USB 1&2 always carry the processed audio in and out. If you are re-amping, the dry audio is on USB 7 and needs to be sent back into the Helix on USB 7 with Helix input set to receive USB 7. You might want to check out This video from Jason Saddites. What I am saying about Multi, he describes at 21:36. Even though in this tutorial he using Cubase and Reaper on a PC, the basics are the same with any DAW. This one specifically covers re-amping, if you’re still having issues. Hope this helps/makes sense. -

You know, that really would be a special limited edition, where Line 6 blank off all the holes where the sockets are supposed to be. Some fool would by it.
-
Other than the blue colour and price, they are identical spec. and at the moment the deal is the blue one is less expensive from Thomann. I have no idea why anyone would think that there is no line out, even though it says "Line Out - No" on the "other info page", the connections are the same. They even do a red version, which is very slightly more expensive than the blue one - may be they are trying to clear them from stock.

reamping with Logic. Volume is insanely loud through monitors
datacommando replied to andymguitar's topic in Helix
Hi, I use my Helix floor as an audio interface into Logic Pro X on an almost daily basis, and have done since 2016. I haven’t encountered what you describe as “too loud” happening while recording both the processed and dry guitar signals. Most people seem to think that the level of the dry signal is very low in comparison with the treated sound. I have the USB audio into Logic, but my powered studio monitors are connected to the XLR out on the Helix for direct monitoring without latency. The large volume knob is generally around 9 - 10 o’clock mark and this simply controls the volume level of the monitors, it has no influence on the level hitting Logic, as that is controlled by the input in Logic. If the VU in Logic is down around -12db you should be fine, do not have it peaking above -3db, or hitting zero because then digital distortion is not nice. With old analogue desks pushing your signal into the red was O.K. (up to a point) but with digital it’s a no, no. I would suggest you look at how you how you stuff set up. Although, one man’s “too loud” is Motörhead’s just warming up. EDIT: Does this happen on every preset or only one, it might help if you posted a patch that this is happening with. Also, have a look at this and note the difference between waveforms for processed and dry signals. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
I regularly use a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50x that are rated at 38 Ohm, plus some really inexpensive Superlux HD668B semi open rated at 56 Ohm, and they do the job that I expect them to do with the Helix floor. I can certainly hear what’s going on.

Nope, not off base - that’s precisely the way it works:- XP1 defaults to wah or whammy and XP2 is volume. From the HX FX Pilot’s Guide. ”PEDAL/EXT AMP 1-2 Two expression pedals can be connected to the HX Effects device and assigned to adjust a wide variety of parameters. By default, EXP 1 is automatically assigned to control and bypass Wah/Pitch Wham type blocks, and EXP 2 is automatically assigned to control Volume blocks, making them ready for use with your connected expression pedal(s).” Have fun with new HXFX.
