  1. Hi, As you mentioned, usually this sort of thing occurs along with the error codes -8201, or -8207 when people have modified their existing system by, for example, swapping a hard drive. Apparently, this happens because of the Helix Native copy protection. Generally, you need to fully remove any and all parts of your version of Helix Native, then you need to navigate to Authorized Devices @line6.com (it is under your sign-in avatar) and locate the Deauthorize button next to the Authorized date to remove any unwanted devices. Once, you have completed this process, you should download and reinstall the latest version of Native and restart your computer. Launch Ableton, and insert an instance of H Native and authorise your new copy. If this doesn’t correct the problem, then raise a ticket with Customer Service who should be able to assist with this issue. Also, see the Helix Native Pilot's Guide and on page 6 you will find the detailed info you might require, under the heading "Removing Helix Native". https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b07b166314173f4061/application/pdf/Helix Native Pilot's Guide 3.70 - English .pdf Also, see this: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Hi, It might be beneficial to read the HX Effects 3.0 Owner’s Manual > Using Snapshots > page 31. Also, check out the Command Centre function (page 41) for more flexibility. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050e070d666767d27e720/application/pdf/HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Hi, Helix products do not handle MIDI SYSEX messages. See pages 72 & 73 of the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual > MIDI Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi, I guess it would be a nightmare for anyone who changed, for instance the drive on the amp, only to have that change applied to every other preset that used that particular model - the potential for a catastrophic gig is right there. Anyhow I digress - you should know this:- There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). This link is where you need to go to have any hope of your suggestion been seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/ Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. Then you should use the “sticky thread” in this forum to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to IdeaScale, so they can vote on it if they wish. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Hi, While you might find that very useful to you, it may well be a total pain in the aspidistra to others who bought the Helix because it is essentially designed as an amp modelling system and comes complete with a wide range of options from old school to boutique models. From what you say about only using one amp with the Helix floor, some might find that rather a waste of money and resources. Possible a better choice would be the HX Effects and a single amp or more limited choice amp modeller of your choice. That way you could set and forget every knob on the front of your amp forever. Other than that, with the Helix your options are Create a template that uses your favourite amp to use as the basis for all your sonic excursions Select your single favourite amp and adjust to your own taste, then save that as the default setting for that model - then every time you load it you're ready to go. Much the same as version 2. Set up the amp to your liking then save it to the Favourites folder ready to drop into whatever path you wish. Then the downside of this is, if you make a change to your amp setting it does not carry through to every other instance of that amp block in other presets. Hopefully you can see how that could be a nightmare scenario for other users. I think your approach to using the Helix must be truly unique. Hope this helps?makes sense.
  6. Hi, Once you have found it, by using the “Spotlight Search” as suggest by @theElevators in the post above, when you open it it should appear in the “dock” of your Mac. If you highlight the HX Edit icon in the Dock you can select to keep it available from there for future use, without having to search again. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh35859/mac#:~:text=rearrange Dock items-,On your Mac%2C do any of the following%3A,is placed in the Dock. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hi, Before diving into IdeaScale, there is a general rule of dealing with weird, strange and unexpected things happening your HX device. Perform a Factory Reset - (it’s a kind of magic!) If after the reset you are still experiencing this strange behaviour, your best course of action would be to raise a ticket with support. They are the most likely people to supply a remedy. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, You may want to check out the Command Centre options within your HX Stomp. “The HX Snapshot command allows you to configure a Stomp mode footswitch to recall any snapshot within the current preset immediately.” HX Stomp 3.0 Owner’s Manual - page 47 - HX Snapshot https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b058066312873a50cf/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  9. "I have a line6 HX effects and I use it basically for bass. I would like to get in touch with colleagues who have established effect chains for specific songs or for defined styles. Apart from problems and solutions derived from the use of the unit. And above all, in Spanish. Thank you" Mientras esperas que alguien responda, puedes intentar escribir "BASS" en la sección CustomTone de Line 6 para HXFX. Sólo hay unos pocos, pero es un lugar por donde empezar. Espero que esto ayude/tenga sentido. https://line6.com/customtone/search/?submitted=1&family=hx_effects&sort=rating&sort_dir=desc&search_term=Bass While you wait for someone to reply, you could try typing "BASS" in the Line 6 CustomTone section for HXFX. There are only a few, but it is somewhere to start. https://line6.com/customtone/search/?submitted=1&family=hx_effects&sort=rating&sort_dir=desc&search_term=Bass I hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Hi, I think the same as @rd2rk, in his post above, it could be a cable that has come adrift inside the unit. Report it to Customer Support to see if they have any clues. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. It's not stupid if you are unaware of IRs and their uses. Generally the person who posts the Preset to CustomTone should leave a mention of what exact IR has been used, and where it is available for purchase, or download. I just did a quick check on a couple of Hetfield/Metallica presets and one listed two different IRs being used and stated that they were from Ownhammer. Some Ownhammer IR files are available from the Line 6 Marketplace or directly from their web store: https://www.ownhammer.com/store/ Other IR retail outlets are available, but remember not all IRs are created equal - i.e- some have more fans than others, and prices vary. I also noticed that some of the Metallica presets do not have any IR or Cabinets used in them, because the person who made the preset goes directly to their own amp/cab set up or a FRFR box. As noted by @somebodyelse in the post above, since the update to the Speaker Cabinet system in Helix you may be better off finding a suitable onboard cab and simply play around with different mics and positions. There is quite big selection to choose from. Have fun with your new LT, and experiment - the are really difficult to damage. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, Well, the first thing that springs to mind is - CustomTone. This has been discussed at length many, many times in these forums. If you download anything claiming to sound like, insert name of band/artist here, it is almost guaranteed that when you stick it into your HX device it will be nowhere even close. Why is that, you ask? O.K. consider this - unless you are using the exact same guitar, strings, pickups, playing with the same technique and listening through an identical monitoring system in the exact same environment, then - NO! it's not going to happen. Also bear in mind that some to the stuff posted on CustomTone might require the addition of a third party IR, that may be free, or needs to be purchased. CustomTone is possibly a starting point, but it is not the Holy Grail, lots of work may be required to get it sounding how you think it should. The best advice about this sort of thing is to "roll your own" tones. You cannot expect to push a foot switch and become Kirk Hammett. Hope this helps/makes sense
  13. Hi, You could construct some sort of makeshift “sun shade” as a temporary measure, for example a modified old cardboard box should do the job. For a more permanent solution you might want to check this out:- https://www.gearbyceba.com/line6-family-usa/p/helix-sun-shield-splash-guards-usa The site belongs to Chad Boston, who is an official Line 6 Ambassador, and the founder of the Facebook group “Line 6 Helix Family User Group OFFICIAL and Original”. https://line6.com/support/topic/43254-line-6-cs-ambassadors/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Hi, If you are thinking about “Snapshots”, then the only real “restrictions” are depending on how you set them up. Snapshots can act as eight variations of the same tone, eight drastically different tones, or any combination thereof—all within the same preset. A single preset’s snapshots may accommodate all the various tones required for a song in many cases. from the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual > page 45 > Snapshots. Each of the eight snapshots in Helix stores and recalls the state of certain elements in the current preset, including: • Block Bypass—The bypass (on/off) state of all processing blocks (except Looper), independent of any footswitch bypass assignments. • Parameter Control—The values of any parameters assigned to controllers (up to 64 per preset). • Command Center—The values of any instant MIDI CC, Bank/Prog, MMC, CV Out, Qwerty Hotkey, and HX Looper messages, plus the state (dim or lit) of any CC Toggle, CV Toggle, and Ext Amp messages. See "Command Center" • Tempo—The current system tempo, if "Global Settings > MIDI/Tempo" > Tempo Select is set to “Per Snapshot.” (By default, it’s set to “Per Preset”) Link: https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b287e6643b71cda93a/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. LOL, a Manc - I’m just the other side of the Pennines from you, in a small town that used to present itself as the Las Vegas of the North - home of the famous Variety Club! A multitude of very famous names played there. As a dweller of Manchester (on the west coast of God’s Own Country), I hope you haven’t fallen into the trap and paid over the odds for one of the Oasis reunion gigs. Jeeziz, I saw them years ago when they were known as Rain and played support for the Joe Louis Walker All Stars band. Just what the world needs - another Beatles tribute band and a very poor one at that. Back to the issue - as for the “fuzz” fx, my guess would be like yours - Rangemaster or Fuzz Face, as they are things from the same era, and it appears you have the Hank tape echo sorted if you are emulating the Binson or Meazzi (I believe Joe Brown gave the Italian delay to him) multi head tape delays. Much like your dad, as a youngster I was a big fan of Hank, and I think it has been well documented how much of an influence he was on a whole bunch of guitar players who came along in his wake. Regards and have fun recreating the “Aquarius” tone.
  16. Shock - Horror! You have to be kidding me? Everyone knows about that fine Geordie lad, Hank B Marvin. Hank is the reason the VOX AC30 was brought into existence in 1958 - he needed something that could be heard above the screaming young girls at the Cliff Richards and The Shadows gigs. Check out - http://www.shadowmusic.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=12125&start=10 for some more in depth discussion about the sound on Aquarius (double tracked?, Fairchild Compressors?, Jennings J40 amp.) Anyhoo - regarding Leslie Cabs, the general consensus of opinion seems one that you don't use any other cab along with it. Although there is mention of the "rotary speaker" being used as a "Jennings Gyrosonic". See this: http://www.voxshowroom.com/catalogs/scene5.html It might mean that a certain Beatle had no involvement at all. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. I was at Art College in the late 60’s, but they say if you can remember it, then you weren’t really there. I don’t understand why you don’t reference the guitarist and album/track that you mentioned. As I’m now on the far side of my allotted 3 score years and 10, a clue may be helpful, because what I can remember is the whole world and his brother were messing around sticking guitar sound through Leslie cabs. Which I believe was started by Buddy Guy back in ‘65 when his amp failed during a recording session. Few examples:- Cream - Badge (featuring Hari Georgeson), Hendrix - Little Wing and Angel, a certain Mr. Page - Good Times Bad Times, Joe Walsh (James Gang) - Cast You Fate to the Wind, etc. Although, I think George Harrison was the only regular Vox user in my list. Please expand your request.
  18. Hi, Yeah, the solution would appear to be - raise a ticket with Customer Support. If you do that, and solve the problem, please report back here as it may help some other hapless soul. Strange that nobody else has bothered to post a useful solution, yet they were quick enough to post in here seeking assistance. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. It has been my experience that the “unreliability” of these devices is generally the product of “human error” that is introduced by the user. Check the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual > page 48 > Determining Snapshot Edit Behavior. Also, page 64 - Global Settings > Preferences Link: https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b287e6643b71cda93a/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. Hi, Jorge, When seeking assistance from Forum users it's a really good idea to supply as much information as possible regarding the computer and operating system, and DAW, you are using. From what you have said, it appears to me that you are using Logic Pro version 11.0.1 on one of the newer Mac models. As you stated this is a first time install on this Mac, then authorising the computer is a necessary part of the installation and copy protection. In your second post, you say it is authorised, but there is still an issue, although looking at the screenshot it seems that the Logic plug-in manager has flagged it as being available for use and it is successfully validated. If that is correct then you need to supply more specific information as to exactly what is happening - the screen grab gives no indication of any issues. Pease help us to help you.
  21. Hi, again, I don’t think that this really qualifies as a “bug” due to the low count of posts in this thread. For it to qualify as a “bug” it would be happening to everyone, which it seems is not the case and these reports here start way back in late 2018 and intermittently after that. When weird stuff starts to happen, it’s usually advisable to perform a factory reset on your device. If you are still experiencing the same issue after that, then maybe it’s time to raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, I know this may sound obvious, but you didn’t say if you had checked your Global Settings. From the HX Stomp 3.0 Owner’s Manual - page 54 - Global Settings > EXP Pedals. Determines whether each expression pedal position is recalled per snapshot, per preset, or applied globally. If you want a Volume Pedal or Wah to maintain its position when switching presets, set this to “Global.” Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi, Yeah, that would be correct, because the on Rolls webpage for the PM50se Personal Monitor Amp, under the specifications tab, it states: “Inputs: -20 dB max XLR 1K balanced, 20 dB monitor”. I guess hitting it with more than -20db would introduce the clipping you mentioned.
  24. Hi, You shouldn’t need to ask - just go and buy a copy, and once you have a copy you’ll find it is constantly being updated free of charge, until it requires a total re-write. It is now on v.1.4 and it comes with a stack of example presets for you to try out. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Hi, This error has been reported in here previously on several occasions, even way back to firmware v.2.80 - if you do a search for 8611, you can should find them, and possibly find a solution. Example: ensure your HX Edit and Firmware are the same version. If you followed the instructions for updating your firmware, the first thing you are promoted to do is to make a backup of all contents of your Helix, including presets. This is a “fail safe” procedure - the Helix is a computer, and computers can, and do go wrong - always work on copy. If you made a backup, then you should be able to perform a factory reset on your Helix and then reload your presets. If you did not make any back ups of your presets then you have no way to restore them, and you only have yourself to blame. This is the sort of mistake you will only make once, if you do not want to spend many hours recreating your carefully crafted tones. It is not a question of “if” something goes wrong, more like “when”. Always have a backup option. Hope this helps/makes sense.
