To be fair, Fractal went from the Ultra to the Axe FX II, and from one processor to 2 processors, and it took years, not 3 months for the new unit to become available. Id hate to be your tire guy...
-
Yea one I have tis crapola- Any good free ones out there worth the effort guys? Did this work now?

Nice write up. I too wish for things like scenes, and heel down wah off, and more amps etc etc. I don't really know what good it would do for us to know, but not knowing the true limitations of what Helix is able to do yet, not knowing just how much extra memory space inside Helix is available for future add-ons later, and because Line-6 won't give out any details on any of this stuff , we will just have to wait and see.
-
As DI said a pages back... "Many" of us read this, right ? ;) Just speculation, but because of the way Helix was designed there may not be faster switching available.
-
Any chance its 3rd party peripheral or driver/software related for some?
-
Change the IR's as needed, but unless you like shrill icepick tone I wouldn't run Helix or any amp processor thru an FRFR active speaker without some kind of speaker simulation. Thats what that kind of "full range flat response" (FRFR) active speaker is made for.
-
Lots of people use Matrix for the Axe FX. I use a SLA-2 bridged Mono with a Marshall 1960a cab for my Kemper and it just sounds great! But with Helix, I plan on using a Firehawk 1500. Its the best of both worlds Amp Combo AND FRFR active speaker wise.

The reason you should use speaker simulations (IRs) on FRFR speakers is because the good ones (like the Atomic CLR) are "tone-wise" non-colored very flat response speakers, specifically made for IR use... Mesa, Peavey, Marshall, Fender, Crate etc.etc speaker cabs are ALL colored and tuned to sound the way their engineer wanted them to. In most cases you would want IR's on, using FRFR active speakers.

Lets make something else clear. It is good enough now for most of us, and being edgy doesn't help a thing. Heres a file. Work on those sharp edges while Line 6 works on the updates. Im sure things will get better over time, while you sell stuff you will regret selling later. ;)
-
I would sell it then. No way I would use something so horrible if it effected me like this. By a Fender and a bunch of pedals, problem solved... for you. ;)
-
Things change. Ask my Vetta combo... ;)

Let me answer that.... Because I can.... :D :D :D And Im glad I did. The Firehawk by itself is one hellova nice sounding amp and FRFR powered system tone wise. The cloud has a gazillion patches for it too. And for Helix, there just couldn't be a better stage amp in my opinion. As always YMMV... ;)

Bluetooth isn't for everyone, maybe a normal Fender might be better? I had no issues but then I'm somewhat computer literate. Better than some, worse than others but really, it isn't that hard. If you had spent half the time fiddling with the iPad editor versus typing your frustrations you probably would have it down by now. ; ) The amp is worth the effort, and the cloud is full of usable good tones for the taking! Keep trying, I bet within a week you will be a pro at it.

I just touch mine, and a tab opens that says save.

The Atomic CLR is comparable sound wise to the Firehawk 1500, without all the wonderful tones included like the amp has. CLRs were $995 ea. last I looked. The Qsc K12 was too muddy for me. Be careful about whats popular with Djs, PA versus a guitar amp tone wise. There's a world of difference tone wise, and regret if you choose wrong. You see that's where the FH 1500 shines, it a good FRFR speaker system as well as a good sounding amp on its own. Best of both worlds. So much so, I'm gonna run Helix and a Kemper thru mine.

fabbr, whats different software wise between the two?

So is there anyone else with "only" a USB 2 capable computer that does not get an editor disconnect ? I mean one like mine (Late 2009 iMac) that has no USB 3 ports in it? Backing up the idea that its related to USB 3 capable computers like amsdenj says (no matter if your running USB 2 or not) would help confirm his idea.

I sold my HD500 a while back because the AxeFX II just killed it tone wise. Then I sold the Axe FXII because to me the Kemper sounded much better for what Im doing musically (esp. non-metal tunes). Im expecting Helix (because of the multitude of youtube videos and many praises for example) to be on par with my KPA tone wise. Maybe even surpass it. As far as Helix being a "mac truck" tone wise, that made me giggle. You don't get better tone by cornering faster, or cutting corners period. Maybe you just haven't heard or read the same things I have. Either way The HD falls way back from the front of the pack in my studio now as well as the Vetta, ToneLab and the Digitech 2101 etc etc does... As always YMMV... ;)
-
Just incase you might have missed it 4.0 firmware is out for the KPA. Morphing is the shiz! :D
-
FYI The Firehawk 1500 uses an iPad/iPhone editor....

Ive actually had a "major musicians retailer" send me an "open boxed" repackaged item for new, once. I gave them the benefit of the doubt then that it was an honest mistake, but that under no circumstances were they going to to not send me a RMA for that and also send out another "un=opened" unit, which they did. ;) So its possible to mix up stuff with all that they deal with, but it might not be the manufacturers fault when it happens...
