    Helix FAQ

Yea too bad there is not a known "neutral sounding non-colored" Mic standard out there.
  2. Agreed- I need the feel and feedback on what Im playing, and for me the house feed just don't do that justice pointed away from me on stage.
  3. As long as the customer service person does state that they are passing this on and will try to get an answer for you, I see nothing wrong with that path. As long as the firmware people will talk to customer service that is. :P
  4. I feel for you- Audio Interface Drivers take a while to get right sometimes. 512 is ok for playback/mixing but trying to monitor real time at that rate is painful.
  5. I think that we will eventually have an editor for Helix. Its a huge sales advantage for one thing, with the fact that no one can even wipe without software, ram and a monitor these days. :P
  6. Will Helix allow you to use the WorkBench software thru the Variax port? If not now, then eventually? Thanks..
  7. Of course the QA dept and sales dept are a different entity as they should be. But one effects the other. I sternly disagree with you that the performance of a QA program (finding the errors and correcting them, and coming up with a better XXX) does not effect the total sales of a product. Would you buy a product that has a bad history? Does that matter? Of course it does! Poor quality made products (the result of a bad QA dept. in most cases) eventually results in poor sales, period. In fact, the 1st will always take care of the second, in either a very good way or a very bad way. And Ive heard the "no matter how its made" speech before, and also know that anything electronic will eventually break (by itself or with help). Im not disputing that. Im just stating that I don't want the broken parts problem helped along by putting sales before quality or making excuses for issues. Im sure that Line 6 feels the same way and will correct the issues as they get to them, but a problem is still problem no matter how its colored. Im sure you and I agree to the no excuses policy and QA before sales, correct?
  8. Have you changed the USB cable? Or at least reinserted it? Just a thought...
  9. You do realize just how many things made within the last 50 years has an on-off switch that still functions? Poor choice of a switch is "not" the reason why the HD500x didn't have one, but it could be the reason why the one on the Helix broke. OTOH it also could be that dropping off a dock (even in its shipping box) could have damaged it in transit. I have seen this happen with my own eyes. Or your baby brother could have used his Tonka Truck like a hammer and whacked it when you weren't looking. There are thousands of reasons why. But the one I do not want to find out about is it being a cheap made switch. Here's hoping its not that.
  10. Guard your mail box... ;)
  11. OTOH Ive had them tell me something was in stock, and then send me an out of stock email. They sometimes have issues knowing what day of the month it is over there too, so I wouldn't put much stock into their April timeline until April...
  12. Hey thanks for that! I assume that I just need a regular 1/4" guitar signal cable to run it then?
  13. We could also just switch the wah on by a "board switch" when needed and not hit a note until we are ready for the sound. But I always like that wah in the background ready to go, and off until I rocked the pedal forward. This really "needs" to be implemented. Thanks for the link!
  14. Sounds to me (Electronics background for 40+ years) like your QA dept. needs more time for "Quality Assurance" to check the board's soldering temps and product status as they come off the line, and less time for the sales dept. to run the show, so to speak. On a case by case basis of course. ;) Pardon my Texas slang but something just aint set right "heat wise" on the surface mount solder station doomoflachee. I do hope this is the exception and not the rule, since I have ordered one myself.
  15. So I opened up my 2010 model EP-1 pedal to do the mod- and it looks nothing like the prints. Mine has a single 20K ohm pot with I believe 3 wires attached. Why is it so much different than the schemes ? And yea it works well on KPA and Fractal stuff... Now what?
  16. Both the Axe FX and Kemper use a "Heel down= Off" setting in the foot controller setup. This allows you to park a spring loaded mission pedal in the heel down position so it's Wah pedal is disengaged, and when its then rocked forward the wah engages and stays engaged as long as its moving. When the foot leaves the pedal in its heel down position it again disengages the wah. Does the Helix have a "Heel down- Disengage" setting for foot controllers?
  17. Thanks for the mod thumbnails !!!
  18. I did run crossed this thread- http://line6.com/support/topic/16994-need-expression-pedal-help/ Where is shows how to modify a Mission EP-1 to work with Helix. Looks like Ill have to pull out the soldering gun soon...
  19. Mine are Mission EP-1 pedals. They did work with the Axe FXII and Kemper. Im hoping that they also work with Helix.
  20. From my experience with them over decades its much, much later. That said, I do understand that sometimes there are reasons as to why things need to stay secret for as long as possible. Whether or not this is one of them is not up to me to decide thats for sure.
  21. I have a pair of Atomic CLR's http://www.atomicamps.comI will try and use. Or maybe Ill just do the 4 cable method into my old 60 watt SuperSonic.
  22. Well thats interesting. Thanks. I just assumed (theres that word again) since the Axe FX II and the Kemper had a calibration tab (to set the min-max heel-toe settings) for the controllers, the Helix would also. Oh yea I also am guessing that "any" Mission controller will work, and not just the ones with the "Line-6" marking?
  23. Sorry for the obvious, but I plan on using some Mission Controller pedals for volume, Wah and for whatever, and I assume that there is a "Calibrate Controller pedal #1,2,3 etc" setting in the system setup inside the Helix. Is this correct? I did have a look in the Faq pages section but didn't find anything... Thanks!
