Yes, there is but "We've only just begun"....

Just like tone, what's reasonable to some is mediocre for others. ; ) And 80-20 isn't very balanced lol.

If You are using the Windows Version 1.91Released 9/13/18 drivers, then reinstall and see if they just went in wrong perhaps? 2.8 is supposed to be right around the corner so hang in there.

Exactly. They are the tools of our musical trade. If they don't feel right and sound right, we know the difference immediately. Aunt bunny can't really tell if you are playing a worn out broken down feeling guitar, but you can or at least you should be able to. I get that everyone's pocketbook is different so we play what we can afford. I sure do. That said, It matters if they are of good quality or not (notice I didn't say expensive but they can be) while playing, because as Brueski said they are the foundation of our sound and soul, no matter how good you are.
-
OTOH, a better guitar with it setup right will promote playing longer with less hand fatigue and soreness. Now playing more with better gear never makes you the best, but it does make you better. Like the Reverend Billy F Gibbons said... Lightnin' Hopkins taught us, "the rubber on a wheel is faster than the rubber on a heel" and Muddy Waters taught us "you don't have to be the best one; just be a good 'un" .. that just about says it all, always strive to be a good 'un.

All you need is a time machine to take you back about 5 years or so, and that's just about how it was here then. No Thanks, I just had a bar of soap. I would rather have it like it is now, where we get tidbits of info (thanks go mostly to D.I. on this- even if I had to go to elsewhere to find some of it) on what is going to be huge once released. They are damned either way, and educated guess on the release to me is better than no information at all.

That's correct only if you really believe they (and their instructors) were honest in the 1st place. I have 9 fingers left after counting the total.

However the new models sound, it more or less will sound how we all hear its sound, differently for each of us (in a good or bad way). Violation of an NDA over the suggestive tones of a new amp not released "specifically" may be breaking NDA rules as Phil states, no matter how anal that is to some of us. Lawyerese usually doesnt account for common sense involvement, and getting hung out to dry by breaking an NDA agreement is a biotch I'm told.

Campbells 2.8 ounce tomato soup. Costs as much as a full can but extra spicy!!! ; )
-
Ahhh well then I can see that now as a plus. Does it take away from the snapshot functions of turning on the fx, or does this "share" functions?

Ok, help an ol fart out, please. "Why" would I want to use the Helix Controller to control my DAW? Am I not busy enough already controlling the tones and multiple FX pedals with it on the patch I'm recording? What did I miss here besides more options (and I love options so don't take this the wrong way ; ) )?
-
I also have 2 PC+ units all set up and ready for the 2.8 update that will allow the editor to assign a cab, mic setting per snapshot per PC+! .

Nothing- NOTHING wrong with multiple toys glideman. I wish I had an FX-III. But I love my Helix and my Kemper. I use them both all the time. And it was also mentioned (not by you) in this thread that ordering 3 items and knowing you are going to return 2 of them is somehow taking advantage of their return policy. I disagree. Why? 1. Because that is the policy that "THEY" made, not me. And I did not violate anything by trying out their product and then returning it after the choice was made. I followed "their" policy, be it one item returned, or TEN. 2. It's much easier on me, (the customer) to try out all 3 ( or 10) items at once and decide by recent comparisons between them right then, versus weeks in between shipment. 3. And finally, there is no way in which to try out a Kemper, Helix, Boss, and esp. an Axe FX III at Guitar Center or anywhere else usually. They can not afford the inventory or it's not available but thru a certain company. And then they only stock what the bean counters tell them is selling like hot-cakes anyway, usually 3 to 4 times what they bought it for in bulk. 4. And finally, if the maker has made the "best" product to begin with, then they have no reason to worry about it being returned... ; ) As always, YMMV on this. I can see where some might think this idea is wrong, OTOH if you take very good "care" of what you return to the vendor then their mark-up is only reduced by a 3rd (or less) of the overall overblown cost of the item, and they (the middleman) won't lose anything, they just won't make as much as they wanted to on it. ; ) There are very few pluses in buying musical equipment these days, and this is one of them. Take advantage of it while it lasts.

Adding an IR cab to a real cab ( in 4 cable method or otherwise) is not a good idea generally because it can make your tone dark/muddy , so as long as they aren't mixed u should be fine.

Go into the Helix editor, click on file- "create backup". Do it now so when the 2.8 patch hits today or tomorrow you won't have to remember this important step! I have a feeling it will drop on "Tuesday" which happens to be the busiest day of the month for me- (pure speculation on when 2.8 drops).
-
Spring is no longer a future date in "any" situation regarding the 2.8 patch release, and obviously, they need more time. That's a good thing for us cause I for one don't want a half-baked patch released.

Sorry, I sold my GM40 dlx a while back.
