  1. Helix and PC+ working right is a MAJOR Evolution for this old coot- so as long as the parameter values for Powercab tab (within HX Edit) is fixed, it's all good... Thanks for the heads-up on this one Phil.
  2. Love that old BC stuff! Balanced well for the recorder used I must say-guitars sounded good and Bass player had the foundation- Vocals good. Very nice!
  3. Good question. I have a Line 6 EP-1L6 I'm fixing to try on my new HX FX, but I don't know if that's what most use or not. I had a "40-year" reward coming(and picked an Amazon gift card) from work, so I finally got one of these ! ; )
  4. I wondered specifically what was the issue as I haven't gotten to my expression pedals yet. Thanks for clarifying this.
  5. Did you happen to read THIS 1st before you tried to update???? 3a. Updating Helix Floor / Rack / LT to 2.80 If you have HX Effects or HX Stomp, skip to step 3b instead. If you have Helix Rack / Control, turn off Helix Control. Also, shut down all Line 6 software or any programs that use audio, like DAWs, iTunes, Spotify, video games, etc. Connect Helix to a Mac or PC via USB (do not use any sort of USB hub) and turn it on. Launch Line 6 Updater. The latest version was automatically installed when you installed HX Edit 2.80 in “STEP 2 Updating HX Edit to 2.80” above. Enter your Line 6 Username and Password and click “Sign In.” A big green box appears with a picture of your Helix product. Click the big green box and then click “Update” next to Version: 2.80. Carefully read the instructions (HEY! DID YOU BACK UP FIRST?), click “Continue,” and then “Accept.” A warning dialog appears, telling you that Helix will be reset twice. Think “Hmm, maybe I should’ve backed up first? Nah, I insist on subverting the dominant paradigm,” and click “OK.” Helix begins updating. As wholly expected, because we warned you… because you always read the instructions… halfway through the update process, Line 6 Updater displays a second dialog and Helix’s LCD reads “Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!” THIS IS NORMAL. Breathe deep, everything is fine. You’re almost there. Click “OK” again. When finished, Helix restarts automatically and begins rebuilding your presets. Let it finish. If you have Helix Rack/Control, turn on Helix Control. Helix Rack reads “Helix Control must be updated to work properly. Update now?” Press Knob 6 (OK) to update Helix Control.
  6. Errrr, no. Do you mean 3 to 5 PowerCab preset choices already available per patch, versus all of them per patch? It's not much work to select what you want and then save it. I don't understand why it's not flexible enough for ya? Very easy to do once you get the hang of what's needed.
  7. You will "never" always have the newest thing. Never. Ever.
  8. Jim, can you please fix the topic to "Solved". Glad you found a fix.
  9. Wow I have a whole chapter dedicated to no tuner in the editor then hehehehe ! ; )
  10. I can confirm that all 3 of my Strymon pedals are switching midi wise from the Control Center settings, along with the PowerCab + switching cabs via L6-Link which I setup in HX-Edit. THIS is what I've been waiting for (besides the tuner in the editor). Good job Line-6!!!!!!
  11. You forgot "whilst screaming "Woe is me!" from the rooftops" next to a canyon! It's always better with some reverb and delay involved... ; )
  12. Hello Mr. Markdaniels76, Every major update worth its salt is gonna have issues that get missed and needs a patch or two to correct stuff. This is a "natural" occurrence for any company that writes software. So please, from one asshat to another, drop the 'protectors of the realm' stuff. Why? Because ..., 1. The point you are making never helps anything if you can't have more fun with it than evilness. 2. Most of the time the knowledge base of the "Experts" here far exceeds many of the complaints thrown at them about Line 6 issues. I know this as fact. I also know they have been wrong on occasion (a time or two) and that's a fact too. The guy that's never wrong hasn't returned yet. 3. Finally, they nor I dictate what comes out of the Main office at Line 6. Now, I brag on Line-6 when they deserve it (and they mostly do for 2.8) and I give um heell when they don't. You really don't have to agree with anyone here, but remember to respect their opinion even if they wish to be wrong at times. ; ) And to me, that IMO is another "natural" occurrence as well. ; )
  13. I would say that the majority of people that updated to 2.8 had no problems installing it. I didn't either. I would also say that a lot of folks didn't bother reading (altho a few did and still had an issue) the patch info before starting the update. It "might" fix your problem. Roll the dice and be not afraid I say!!!
  14. I don't think you can do both a "Global" and "Per-Patch" setting on the same control. It's either one or the other IIRC. Somebody correct me if needed- thanks.
  15. I read earlier and someone said here (sorry don't remember who that was atm) in a few weeks ballpark.
  16. Thanks for the info! If you can get or remember the specific name that helps too.

    Tuner

Why there's nothing wrong with the tuner. I have like a half a dozen tuners and occasionally use them but I find myself missing the Helix tuner when using them. ; P Now that "that" sarcasm is over with (died after the tuner was finally fixed patch before last thank GOD) I just checked all 3 modes in the tuner in 2.8 and it works fine for me. No just "blinking" here on the 5th and 6th. Not sure why yours is messed up.
  18. If Windows 10 allows the update to continue, but Windows 7 does not, then it's an incompatible issue between the software. That could be anything already installed on a Windows 7 machine (like Virus Scanning software) all the way up to Windows 7 having an issue with the 2.8 code. Could be anything causing this but thats not the point. My point is that Windows 7 was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009, and became generally available on Oct 22, 2009... When Windows 7 reaches its End of Life phase on January 14, 2020, Microsoft will stop releasing updates and patches for the operating system. That's just around the corner folks. Isn't it about time to upgrade a 10 year old OS?
  19. Interesting- Please let us know more when you hear back from them.
  20. The nice term for it is "Oh My Goodness". The norm is "OH MY GOD". The short term for it is "Only Midgets Grin"...
  21. So can you change the opening post to "Windows 7 FAIL"?
  22. I have two Powercab Plus units and both showed up in the updater. Get your password straightened out, then download the latest version of Line 6 updater and try again.
  23. Maybe one of the experts or D.I. can answer this. Yea it makes no sense to have LF RAW and Flat set to 0 DB and the others at -15 DB, so my "protection" guess was wrong. Could have been something simple like last second tweaking as well.
  24. Protection? That's the only reason I can think of to lower the outputs that far down in power levels.
  25. Just trying to find out if I am thinking correctly on this. Scratching my head a bit ... So I have a pair of PC+'s setup with a different mic and cab. Both are also set at -15db out. The PC+ Line outputs are what I'm reading on the audio interface meters. i noticed on my Apollo meters that one channel was hotter than the other, so I leveled them manually on the mixer channel outs before the DAW inputs. I then noticed that different cabs and mics in the PC+, all set at -15 db, are not nessesarily equal output wise, at least on my Apollo Quad. The easy work around is to just tweak the channel gains a bit, but.....since I don't know how hard this was to do- Did Line 6 just get these in the ball park lvl wise and call it good? Is this "normal"? What say you? I'm thinking that maybe it is ok given that some mics are hotter than others etc. etc... Anyone else see this?
