  1. I believe "Wall of Sound" is available for use, to see if that might work for moving the mic around.
  2. It has been this way "FOREVER" with just about every other plugin out there. They all need a host to run. Those that don't know this fact are very very new to using VSTs, AU, etc etc.

    Where is Native?

Ok, where is it? This is mainly pointed at our Line 6 PR guy. Yea I know it's not out yet. Yea I know its due to release in spring. Yada yada yada. Where are we status wise is the question? Thanks DI for any info you are allowed to give at this point.
  4. Play one before you buy if possible. Then watch all the videos and listen with a "good" pair of flat studio reference monitors (ones you will use to play thru if possible). Then decide because no one can please you, but you.
  5. Get what you can afford, not what's cheaper in price. That way your friend's won't claim that you are so tight every time you fart you get a nose bleed. ;)
  6. One or two things for me- L6-Link. Same port, with the same "TradeMarked" name as what's in an HD series, but way different control wise. IR management (there isn't any now). Oh yea, and no tuner for my editor...
  7. I don't think it was a test. I think DI was just being more helpful and forthcoming on the information than Line 6 is noted for. I hope he didn't get in trouble and it's now policy to do this. We shall see.
  8. Not that it might affect the Helix driver (even thou its possible), can I ask why you are using a 6-year-old Mac OS? Is that the latest a Mac Pro can handle?
  9. I bought one when my Guitar Center was dumping their (new) DT-50's here a while back for $400.00.
  10. That's true, and the more you use the more you compress generally. For me, right at speaker breakup it sometimes needs just a bit of sustain/compression.
  11. And 4 or 5 shots of JD and you won't care if it's closed. ;)
  12. I've worked with many people over a few years (decades) doing fiber, and the 1st thing they teach (other than the other basics) us in AT&T/Siecor/etc schools - connector installation class is to "lose the 3-pound hammer technic". Some people just can't do it (for many reasons). One reason basically is that if you play roughly with fiber (like the 3-pound hammer technic) while installing an ST, LC connector, splice etc it will break the fiber before you are finished. Now that is not to say that normal wear and tear doesn't wear out part's eventually because it does. But..., if (IF) you are grabbing that knob on Helix like a 600-pound gorilla does a banana it won't last as long versus using say, a lighter touch. Not that you were of course. ;) Edited: That's Seicor... Not Siecor.
  13. It's much simpler for me. Don't over cook the dinner so to speak. I adjust to taste and then play. I could care less what an engineer likes, what mic distance to spend hours with or even what the audience likes tone wise. Why? Because for 40 years when playing out I just adjusted to taste, and the crowd liked it too. So my advice is to throw away the cute sayings like "amp in the room" sound or feel... Just adjust it to taste and play. Before you chastise me, just try it.. :)
  14. Another reason for using an editor- less hardware use/abuse...
  15. Try it at church without plugging into the house feed. Do you have sound thru the monitor then? As for the pop, Does the house feed have Phantom power turn on, on that channel?
  16. Good that you did that. It's too bad the room was not FULL of people with past experiences, that a new modeler like Helix can sound as good as tube amps do. Now, if it just has a tuner for the editor...
  17. Well, that's another opinion all right. ;) As I said, YMMV and that's ok. Usually, however, when one is skilled at all trades he is a master of none.
  18. Personally, I wish they had used the extra memory space and hardware space for MORE guitar stuff versus an audio interface with a really good guitar processor included, in the first place. But that's just me. As always YMMV.
  19. Latency matters using Helix (or any other) as an Audio Interface for Softsynths like Omnisphere or Serum. Or Drum tracks using Addictive Drums or BFD software. When you hit the note on a midi keyboard you want to hear the note, immediately. True Audio Interfaces worth their own salt are not just about playing guitar thru it onto a Cakewalk audio track. ;)
  20. I like IR's but not much into a data entry job. If the IR slots were the same after an upgrade I'd say yes. But I won't invest much time in more than a few until they become part of the update process (I.E. put back in place automatically just like they were before the update).
  21. Life with Helix and its multiple options for hookup and use with other gear is awesome. Great read guys!
  22. The $99.00 price for us (currently registered Helix owners) was an incentive to purchase and a much-appreciated price. Well, like you I thought the same thing about the last Komplete Ultimate upgrade. They sold tons of the upgrades anyway while I did without. And I even had the last version. Oh well to each his/her own I guess. ;)

    Ernie Ball

Correct, and I love mine too!
  24. I'd like 3 pairs of dirty socks, please. There are anchor's on 3 major news networks that need them for gum support. Yea I know but just the thought of that made me smile... ;) And cru is right but so is bossg. The thing is, those patches that Glenn and others make gives me ideas on other ways to use patches in Helix, and that's a good thing.
  25. Power amp tube changes and a graphic mic placement GUI (like Wall of Sound has) would be awesome. Oh yes, and a tuner for the editor....
