Glad to hear ya got it going. Years ago I had bought a new desktop computer, which I still have, and had issues similiar to this except at the time I didn't have any Line 6 stuff or guitars. I called the geek squad, they sent a tech. He spent 4 hours and 167 of my dollars to tell me I had a "bad load", lol and he left me with a still broken software problem. So I ended up fixing it myself by digging in and reloading the OS, which worked for sometime although I wasn't using the computer very much. Eventually, It acted up again, at this ppoint I did a test on the hardrive the OS was installed on and found out the disk had a bad sector. I replaced the hard drive reinstalled the OS and never had a problem since. After this I asked myself why couldn't the tech do a disk check? I knoiw he didn't 'cause I watched him work on it. Ever since that episode I did my own work, and told everyone I know about that experience. Moral of the story: There are times you have to take the "bull by the horns". Research your problem or just "dig in" and fix things yourself. Software breaks and it needs to be fixed by reinstalling, hardware breaks and need to be fixed or replaced.

You might try to do a reset or reinstall the firmware. Link to Spider Jam Manuals in FAQ section Link to Spider Jam Update instructions

Hahahah Good news, Not everyone is out to get ya.

I've always had good experiences with Line 6's UX2, X3 Pro & HD 500. I'll run them for hours (a few times for 18 hrs) hooked up to my PC recording and playing while browsing the Internet with multiple tabs open. I've never bought a used one though at least to my knowledge, lol. So I would have to agree that the PC setup is an issue, maybe the hardware, etc.

Hope everything works out for you. After reading thread after thread about problems buying second hand Pod's I wouldn't buy anything like it untill the original owner can get it working on my computer first. This means I would never buy a used one online. Of Course, hindsight is always 20/20.

If you buy a second hand POD, will you have USB connection issues?

I think you might be right as there are no model packs for the HD500. Although they ask you to register it to your own account right from the start with every product you buy from them.
-
Have you registered the pod to yourself and then run the license manager first? If you bought it from someone else they may have to unregister it from their account also.

Thanks for the tip on the Nearfields. I've made 2 power packs for it since I had the rechargeable batteries laying around. 1 uses 8 2000 Mah AA batteries and the other uses 8 10,000 Mah D batteries. It works for long hours at high levels on the D batteries The Amp is a Lepai car Amp. I place that thing right in front of me while I play and make settings. The cabinet was $18, the amp was $22 and well the batteries I already had so I bought some 5.5mm connectors with wire and battery holders another $20 or so. The Recharehable D batteries were bought a year ago for $54 and the rechargeable AA batteries were $35 for 16. The batteries get used all the time in other things and still work great. I run the headphones out into it with studio direct. Gives my ears a good break from the headphones. It's a closed back cab but still sounds great. I'm thinking about cutting it in half and making it modular so it can be put together or seperated. It also has 2 tweeters.

Which X3 do you have? I have the X3 Pro and run into a DT50 & DT25 Cab, Spider Jam, Vox Mini 3 Aux in, Jambox, Jet City Picocalve & JCA12S+. I think it sounds great through all of them as long as the amps that need to be, are set to a clean channel to start with. If I had 2 Vox Mini 3's I would run the 1/4" outs into them and have good stereo monitors. I also put together this little battery powered stereo cab:

Delay Before Reverb? (general 'pedal' Sequence Thoughts)
Brazzy replied to ColonelForbin's topic in POD HD
Good suggestion, I often just pllug the guitar right into the amp (DT50 in my case) also, it gets ya going fast and sounds absolutely great. Lately I've been monitoring with small speakers or headphones while playing with the HD500's effects and collect patches I feel are intersting then later try them into the front of the amp, tweak them if need be and save to a setlist or batch file. -
If indeed the devices doen't work well together I would be bummed out too since they actually should, given that they're both SP\DIF devices. Take your time with it maybe things will work out with the right settings, try all the settings possible.

Delay Before Reverb? (general 'pedal' Sequence Thoughts)
Brazzy replied to ColonelForbin's topic in POD HD
Good post, I always run the reverb last in the chain and sometimes the volume pedals at the very end. Also i use the the Mod and Delay in front of the amp or after in that order. I try other ways too but it seems like always end up with this order depending on what I hear. I don't have a JTV just the X3 Pro, HD500 and a bunch of guitars. -
Was using my X3 Pro and figured I'd give my ears a break from the headphones so I plugged the Jambox into the headphone jack and started playing. Wow, totally surprised me. I'll be using this little thing like this often. I also like the VOX Mini 3 for this purpose, but when you need a big sound that doesn't bother other people and you don't feel like using headphones the Jambox works. Anyone else use tiny speakers like this lately?

I can honestly say and with experience that wierd things do happen with computers and digital music devices but I've had minimal. Although, I don't gig so my equipment stays put. I'm still learning how to play guitar, getting better now and my fingers are starting to cooperate, lol. I'm really just starting to enjoy all the line 6 devices I've collected over the years. Hope you enjoy it as well Recently I tried running the headphones out into my computers mic input and recorded the insane model.. Had to tweak the master volume down quite a bit as to not clip but I thought it sounded good. I think the 196kHz is really only needed if your going to process the sound with alot of effects afterwards, correct me if I'm wrong. I still have alot to learn.

I forgot about this limitation. This is good info even if wrong 'cause it brings up the question. I've been running an HD500 SPDIF out into an X3Pro and have been able to run all day and night non-stop recording with either Audacity and Ableton Live 8.2.8 while switching between Audacity and Ableton with HD500 Edit and Gearbox open with no problems. All this while I'm in this forum at the same time and browsing other sites as well. It shouldn't be but maybe it's the interface your piping it into.

Nice post. I've had the Spider Jam since 2008 and have never had any real wierdness happen except 1 time it rebooted itself and I don't know why, lol. Now that I have a good grasp on how to use the all the things it has to offer, I really like it. I did all the updates as they came out. Followed the instructions about formatting the card with the amp, etc, etc and never had a problem. I have alot of fun with this amp and I do crank it up !!!.

I was reading this review and found this. I don't know what is causing your problem but when I read this it might be related, not sure though. I'm not even sure if the article is your device. What I'm gathering here is if the device is set at 192kHz then the spdif along with a couple other things are muted.

Dt50 212 Powerlight Goes On For A Second And Turns Dark
Brazzy replied to Rockrecorder's topic in DT50 / DT25
Nice to know, Thanks for head up. -
Was playing around recording my Spider Jam by injecting the mic input on my laptop (Vaio VGN AR630E) with headphone out from the amp. With minimal tweaking I had the hottest signal I could stream into Ableton Live, there is a noise floor, keep in mind I'm using the insane (red) model. Sounded pretty good, but the amp itself sounds even waaaay better, lol. Also, I was monitoring with latency from the laptop speakers (according to Ableton Live 8.2.8 > 41.3 ms's worth) I was not using ASIO I was using MME/DirectX driver and Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC input device. Suppose if I play with the amp settings I could get less noise floor.

Sometimes when you take a break and let it all sink in, the learing process works it's best, Thomas Edison, had a little room with a chair a table and a paper and pencil. He would sit there in silence and grab ideas from the air. Thus the lightbulb that hangs over someones head when they get and idea, LOL. I'm glad you brought up this thread 'cause I wanted to do this in the future. I knew it should be possible since there are 2 seperate channels in the pod if they're set up correctly. Anyway, hope it works good for ya.

Hey Co-lo-nel, I'm going to have to try that someday. I downloaded your patch. Nice rundown Thanks.

Sounds like your trying to reamp all at the same time, check out some videos about reamping. * Orignally I said try starting with the mixer levels at 0 and working up, I haven't tried this though. It doesn't sound like it's going to work.
