That was a great explanaition Rewolf48. I knew somehow it was that PA speaker. It would be nice if the HD line could work with them easier. Really a great post my friend. I just couldn't explain it like you 'casue I don't use a PA speaker

Hey Zombie, I can relate with ya. I have an X3 Pro and still use it. I do like a challenge so I have the HD500 too but I have only used it into an amp like the DT50, Spider Jam, and Picovalve tube amp and they all sound good so I'm happy. It also took me a while to learn. I see that there are some adjustments on the back of the speaker you use. Looks like your going to use Line Level out of the Pod and studio direct from the pod. Maybe someone else has expereince with this speaker.

You might need to try a different powered speaker. Other things I do when using the DEP is set the low cut and turn the resonance and thump all the way up. Although it seems you tried all that, that's why I say try a different speaker or try turning the bass down on the powered speaker if it has the ability. Also you might try changeing the HD's 1/4" out AMP/LINE switch next to the pedal to see what happens. If you have too much trouble revert back to a real amp so you can at least play with your band and work with the HD500 on the side until you get used to the way you need to set it up. Also maybe your driving the powered speaker too hard try turning down the master on the HD and see what happens.

The speaker cable for a tube amp output is heavier than guitar cable. The HD500 only needs a guitar cable. Your essentially sending a small signal into your powered speaker witch translates/amplifies that small HD500 signal. I had flubby bass problem once when I was using the full amp models until I messed arounf with the deep cab settings. I usually always set the low cut to around 80-160, but be sure to work all those adjustments to find your sweetspot. Here's something I was reading about speaker cable recently >>Stereophile Forums "Sheilded Speaker Cables" it's about speaker cable and someone who wanted to know about wrapping the speaker cable with tin foil or copper sheilding in order to ward off RF. it's always interesting to learn about design, helps in undestanding why things are made the way they are. You don't need a speaker cable your using the correct one already. Must be something else causing your tone suck. Have you tried the different output settings? Studio direct? Combo Front? What kind of speakers are going into a combo amp? or PA?

DT50HD Output Suddenly Went Silent, Any Ideas Why? And More...
Brazzy replied to Brazzy's topic in DT50 / DT25
I wasn't really able to play the amp after I did the tube replacement and besides when I got done there was a huge lightening storm anyway. So I played it today for 2 hours straight non-stop and it absolutely sounds great, I love this amp. I'm going to keep a couple sets of EL34EH tubes around for when I need to replace the "Spark Plugs", no big deal really. I'm glad I did it. Pulled the chassis again and tried swapping the the tubes to see if I could close the gap between the 36-32 bias reading but no success it ended up being the same. The Amp sounds great and I continue to use it and have great tone. So I'm wondering if I need a mismatched set of tubes to get an even bias reading and am also wondering if it's by Line 6 design or just this particular amp that the numbers be as they are currently with the ultra matched set of tubes I put in it. Anyone have any expereince? Added March 25, 2015: I read that a matched set has a tolerance of 4mV. If that's the case then the readings I'm getting are fine.- 56 replies

I just fixed up my DT50 with new original tubes and biased them, the thing sounds great, just got done playing it steady for 2 hours. Here's my recent post about it, http://line6.com/support/topic/6699-dt50-head-output-just-went-silent-any-ideas-why/?p=61241

DT50HD Output Suddenly Went Silent, Any Ideas Why? And More...
Brazzy replied to Brazzy's topic in DT50 / DT25
Update: I finally got new matched set of original power tubes EHX EL34EH from AMP-HEAD. Also purchased the Dual Bias Tester MPD. Today I pulled the chassis and old power tubes, the preamp tubes were new so I left them in. After installing the tester, tubes, speaker, and warming it up for 5 minutes I set the bias to the magic number 36mA and let it run for another 15 minutes and rechecked. Actual numbers are currently 36 and 32. I didn't switch tubes to see if I could get a better match. Maybe I should try that later. I still need to put it to the test of time but at least it's not doing what it was doing before the tube change. The DT50 Head lives and breathes again. YaaaaaaaaaaY!! I did notice that the bias pot is very easy to turn and sensative when turned just a little. I suppose that the vibrations from shipping could be enough to actually change the bias adjustment the factory made and rattle the tubes too. When I checked the bias before I touched the bias pot the highest reading was 40mA. I did follow the instructions that were given in a post on the forum and read the instructions provided by AMP-HEAD, I gotta dig that post up now. Here it is http://line6.com/support/topic/3327-dt-50-25-tube-biasing-tips/?do=findComment&comment=25656. And Thanks again to all (you know who you are) that are so kind to share useful information on the forum.- 56 replies

I mic amps, and acoustic guitar and other sounds like bongos and other drums.Sometimes voice too.

Which outputs are you using? Make sure they're not muted, you can navigate there using the outputs button and nav button. Last resort would be to reflash the firmware.

Holy Crudopolus Fat Man!!!! I think they ate too many lollipoptles, LOL.

Have you tried the "Record Select Button" to select your recording device Mic/Aux or Guitar? The button to the far left on top of the cabinaet You need to press and hold for 2 seconds to be able to make the selection.
-
I'm pretty sure the answer is No. it's fixed in that position, the compressor is also fixed. This where the HD line shines.
-
Thanks for the correction.
-
I thunk wrong: It's "input 1" that recieves signal for the tuner.
-
Have you tried a preamp model of somesort? With my X3 Pro I use the American Classic preamp with dynamic ans condenser mics.
-
You could try using an EQ and or the Red Comp or even a Boost Comp. I guess 'cause your using the Aux In for the mic your going to need to boost it with something. Try a clean amp even.
-
I like your idea, in the same breath I have the X3 Pro and I can get some pretty cool Bass tones and I don't limit myself to Bass Amp Models.

Shows good character in a person to post this. :)

Have you tried disabling or uninstalling of any other sound device drivers on that computer? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Line 6 Drivers? If something like what you have going on happens to me I have to reboot, I've tried disabling the driver to renable it and it doesn't work, usually I have to press and hold the power button on my 'puter until it "shuts down hard" in order to get going again.
-
Turn the mic trim pot located next to the mic XLR jack all the way down and work up with the mixer at your normal level. You can use any of the amps or effects to accent the sound.
-
Recently I had issues with the drums and songs, stopped working all together. After I re-flashed the firmware all was back to normal. I don't save patches or anything else so I didn't need to save anything first. If I save a riff or a song I created I always save to the card and transfer it to my 'puter. Usually I just run the headphone output into the line in on my X3 Pro and record to my hard drive. The thread Drums stopped working so I refashed the firmware.

My Experience With Headphones Impedance On A Hd500
Brazzy replied to Cure4Optimism's topic in POD HD
If Line 6 recommends a certain value rated phone they must know what the input impedance of their devices are, therefore the specification. All the different ohm rated headphones are out there for an unlimited variety of applications, IMO. If your getting too much saturation with lower impedance phones you should just turn your monitoring level down to reduce the saturation in them, this is what I do when I use phones that do that. It's really all you can do, at least as far as I know.- 21 replies

My Experience With Headphones Impedance On A Hd500
Brazzy replied to Cure4Optimism's topic in POD HD
For the most part the mids will be a bit more mellow, other than that I have my 600 ohm DT990 open backs vibrating my coconut sometimes, lol. I think it's due to the larger driver.- 21 replies

My Experience With Headphones Impedance On A Hd500

You should be able to get results things like skull candy ear plugs, which I do use, or any low impedance headhpones. I've been using some inexpensive Coby low impedance headphones lately with good results. I'm convinced I do not need high impedance earphones to get good sound to my ears. I have a pair of Beyerdynamic open backed 990's (600 Ohm) I like them very much but I don't need them to be able to dial in a patch. Added:- 21 replies
