  1. This is a long shot but maybe a dual patch or EQ it somehow.
  2. Hopefully that works. The usb ports on any peice of equipment are so delicate.
  3. That is terrible. I don't recall ever having this problem with mine. Kinds sounds like you have 2 signals there, I dunno. Are you using Pod Farm or Gearbox? Have you tried reinstalling those?
  4. It happens to many people, no ones perfect and besides if you wrote it on a note your info wouldn't be secure, lol.
  5. I'd have to agree with you all about the SPDIF being good digital quality without a doubt. I went out of my HD500 into the X3Pro and was very happy with the results. I try all different ways of recording off an on to keep me in a state of flux.
  6. Not exactly a Dream Rig but I sure have alot of fun with it, LOL. This is just what I've been playing around with lately.
  7. The inevitable outcome. If you don't try all options you'll never really know what works best for you. There really are so many ways to record.
  8. USB can be pretty darn good.
  9. Should work although I have the FBV Express, You can change the mode of the controls on the FBV in the Spider Jam settings.
  10. Your post makes alot of sense to me, when tuning up you should consider how you play guitar. Also the sensitivity of the tuner could be what the problem is for some. When I use the HD tuner or the other Line 6 digital ones I don't just tune to the open note I check all up and down the neck to see where I'm at and then play to hear where I stand and then make adjustments accordingly in order to get all up and down the neck as close as possible. Sometimes I find myself having to intonate a couple times in between string changes.
  11. While I understand the OP's frusteration there is more than one person working at Line 6. Sometimes it takes more than 1 phone call and in todays world more than 1 text message or email to get the best answer to a question. Which brings us to a forum on the subject. Years ago I remember having to make many phone calls with different people in different locations to get to the bottom of a problem, which made me good at what I did 'cause I took the time to get the knowledge.
  12. Sounds like my experience. Although, I didn't know anything about music (let alone playing guitar) when I started using these devices, not sure if I know much more now, lol. Then there was the matter of using the computer OS, software (Monkey, License Manager, Gearbox, Pod Farm, HD 500 Edit, etc.) and knowing what effects and settings do what and so on. After that there was Audacity, Ableton and Riffworks programs I had, which blew my mind in such a way I had to leave them alone for a very long time, lol. I'm really only scratching the surface since 2008. Learning what the different file types and sample rates do took me a bit of time to really grasp also. When I started I made a commitment to stick with it no mateer how hard it was going to be. If I was going to let learning this stuff get me down I would never learn anything in a way that was good. So when I got tired (or frusterated) after a session with this stuff I backed off and came back to it fresh. Sometimes, I would then concentrate on working on my guitars and learn something different in that area. That breaks things up and keeps the interest peaked. It's been fun to do on my end 'cause of the way I looked at it from the beginning.
  13. I don't seem to be having any trouble with the HD500 and X3Pro tuners , even the Spider Jam, UX2 and GX work. Although, the G-String seems to always be a problem especially when it gets stuck in the nut groove, Hahaaa. I guess it depends on what ones looking for.
  14. Thank You very much, geppert.
  15. Hope you don't mind me asking. What is an AVR and which brand and model do you use? I'm interested 'cause I may indeed need one. I did a small search but didn't think I was getting the right info.
  16. Sounds like your connecting the cabs correctly, two 8 ohm cabs go into output A's 4 ohm jacks. Sounds like you may need tubes also as many seem to have experienced.
  17. I use the UX2, X3Pro and HD500 and have recorded via USB with Audacity and/or Ableton Live 8 and like the results. I haven't tried recording an actual amp cab with an actual mic that much but think this might be a bit superior to the usb way.
  18. Makle sure you have Administartive Rights and not just a user account. I've heard some say right click on Monkey and select run as administrator, and another said they had to reinstall thier OS all together, although I think this is the extreme.
  19. Lol, that thought did run thru my mind. I guess I should've mentioned it, lol. My apologies right back at Ya. Carry On.
  20. It's nice to know that you've had zero problems with your used Pod. It would also be nice to hear all the details related to your success. For example, all the important details about your computer's components, type of usb ports, did the previous owner unregister it first, did you reregister it before you started installing drivers, and any other important details. I'm under the impression that the user needs to understand the computer and it's programs he or she is going to use it with well enough to have a good experience. I will always say your just asking for trouble if you buy any electronics used without first getting the original owner to let you try it on the equipment your going to use it with.
  21. A long time ago I used to be generous with my tools in the shops I worked in. Lent out ohm meters and other special electrical tools only to have them come back broken or shorted out, lol. Then I got very stingy. This is not dircted towards anyone it's just experiences I've had. Also, I know for certain some people seem to have an excessive amount of static electricity looming around them for whatever reason, lol. I even remember a person who could only work with a certain brand of wrench (very particular) when I could do the same work without destroying anything with a tool that was made in the late 40's, I've also expereinced buying equipment that was just not made well, this is not exclusive to brand. When I use electrical equipment I always work with it with gingerly hands 'cause I automatically look at it as fragile. This comes from a guy who has used many very old heavy duty automobile/truck electrical test tools.
  22. Good idea, the UX8 would fit the bill.
  23. Try Ableton 8 for free. I've been using this since it was Ableton 5 but it's only me recording multi tracks out of my X3 Pro and HD500. Now they have Ableton 9. There are probably more than a few programs (like pro tools, etc.) out there that do this, although I haven't tried any others.
  24. To reinstall open monkey and click on the firmware line then click the "reinstall latest" button.
