  1. I have the HD500. Do you want dry out of the 1/4" jacks? There are two choices for SPDIF out, Dry or Match Outputs. You can run path A or B dry with no amp and no effects. I use this patch to get wet/dry out of the 1/4" jacks and usb.
  2. I can relate to your post there. You have experience and already lived long enough to get a certain groove. Nothing wrong with that. Technology has an alure that can suck us in until we either accept it or realize that we don't need it. Only way to find out is to try it. Nice explanation. I've never played guitar up until recently so it's relativly new to me and will be for quite some time so I will likely stick with it for the rest of my life or 'till it breaks, but I can be very happy with a simple tube amp if need be.
  3. On the POD HD500, you *must* reset the global setup options which includes resetting the Setlist names and pedal calibration by: 1. Disconnecting the USB cable connection between HD500 and host computer. 2. Power off the POD HD500. 3. Power on the POD HD500 while holding the LEFT ARROW (<) button while plugging in the power supply to the POD. If you do not do this, one of the tell-tale symptoms that may surface after a Monkey Flash Memory update is that the HD500 will be stuck in a continuous re-boot/power cycling state (you'll keep seeing the Logo and the unit keeps re-starting itself). Sometimes this may not occur, but a secondary telltale sign that a user has not performed a Global Settings reset is the USB communication between the HD500 and HD500 Edit software will be extremely slow/sluggish. ***PLEASE NOTE: Please also make sure to re-calibrate the onboard expression pedal of the HD500 after performing the Global Settings reset. Instructions: How to calibrate the POD HD500 Expression Pedal. If the Onboard expression pedal of the POD HD500 does not sweep through parameter values as it normally would, you may need to perform a pedal calibration to reset the functionality of the expression pedal: Hold the down the RIGHT ARROW button on the 4 Way Nav Pad while powering the unit on, until you see the “Test Mode†screen (Pedal Cal, etc.), and then proceed with the steps below: If not already selected, use on the 4 Way Nav Pad to select “Pedal Cal,†as shown above. Press the VIEW button. Set the pedal to the minimum “heel†position, then press the A footswitch to set a value for the Duty Cycle. You’ll see the value set to “100.†Set the pedal to the maximum “toe†position, then press the B footswitch to set a value for the Duty Cycle. Again, you’ll see the value set to “100,†as in step 3. Press the C footswitch to prepare for automatic selection of the Scaled Pedal Value and move the pedal from min. to max. You should see the Scaled Pedal Values read “0†at the heel position and “255†and the toe position. If you get values other than 0 and 255, power off and repeat these steps, starting at step 1. Press the D footswitch to save the settings. You’ll be returned to the Test Mode screen and the Pedal Cal item will show a “P†to indicated that the pedal calibration is complete! Power your device off and back on again to start using it. ***Please Note: Re-calibration of the POD HD500's expression pedal is necessary after performing a Global Settings reset. Instructions for how to perform a Global Settings reset is available here.
  4. As long as you got one that works is all that matters.
  5. Just bumping this up with a link to Can I Use My Dt50 With 2 Cabs - Or Left And Right Signals With One Stereo Cab ?
  6. You saw that!! Good Eye, after I posted it I saw this thread so I moved it 'cause it seemed more appropriate here.
  7. Cool, let a tech look at it, he'll give you an expert opinion. Let us know if you find out what's causing that problem if ya can. Good Luck !!!
  8. All good info thanks for sharing.
  9. Press the big knob to the left of the screen, the one that has "presets & press for setlists" wrapped around it, then turn it to select the list you want then press the enter button to the upper right, After that press the view button to get back and now you can press the up and down bank footswitches to navigate the list you chose.
  10. I'm curious as to why this has happened to it. This problem is new to me. Can you think of anything that has happened to it in the recent past? Such as being subject to a very high humidity or moisture? Electronics sometimes do very wierd things when subject to alot of moisture even when it's in the air. How about static electricity being plugged in while theres a lightening storm, or even just dropped hard.
  11. Maybe you got one that someone took apart and played with. Did you buy it used? Did it ever work correctly?
  12. If you can seek help with someone near you, do it. Did you reflash the firmware, reset and then calibrate? In that order? While reflashing do not save any patches.
  13. If your talking about the footswitches getting confused and switching back and forth between each other I've never experienced this but if I did I would reinstall the firmware without saving presets, do a global reset and then calibrate the pedal. Essentially start over 'cause as they say in hills "Sumth'in ain't right"
  14. Awesome teremy, sounds like your making some progress with your computer and HD500. I hear ya on the usb problems. I think everyone runs into some issue with the usb part weather it be the computers capability, just a bad port, or what I consider normal problems that lead to reinstalling firmware in the HD500 and/or reinstalling drivers and programs. Have some fun now. Thumbs Up to ya for letting mus know what gives.
  15. I didn't realize they're that hard to get right now, guess they're a wanted item.
  16. When I got the DT50 head and DT25 Cab to go with the HD500 I said the same thing. The sounds and capability just sent me and the people around me into a state of Awe, Hahahaaaa. The sound that can come out of this setup truly is amazing to me. Have Fun!!!
  17. This video might help with setting sound device defaults. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-42SrCvvjQ
  18. The mixer as simple as it looks can manipulate the sound more than you might think at first. You can pan center on path A and mute path B to get just path A, or vica versa or use both channels panned center for the loudest output, etc. Whenyou download a tone check out the mixer settings first so you know where you stand, before you possibly blast yourself with sound.
  19. I think your going to need to make the Pod speakers the default speakers, the simplest thing to do would be to run the music you want to play along with into the Mp3 jack on the pod if it has one or into a line input. You can also use the aux in jack on the Pod but that would take up one channel in your signal chains.
  20. Oh, I seem to remember something about these ghost notes pertaining to the full amp model, I think someone descibed it as the natural sound of an amp with power tubes. Is it only with the full amp models? I haven't really run into this. I'm going to have to remember to try this out sometime.
  21. Very good sound, I like it and it sounds like you play guitar good to boot. Thanks for sharing.
  22. This is always good reading. It's worth a try. Really the goal is to basically adjust the knobs till you get what you want, logic doesn't always seem to work but It's a good start when ever your trying to narrow your choices down to save time.
  23. They might be right. The number I found on the underside of the chassis maybe something else, but I can use it as an identifier. Whenever I get new gear I take pictures inside and out to get the serial sticker numbers and while I'm doing that I put my own identifying markings somewhere inconspicuous so if it gets taken I can postively identify it when need be. I learned years ago when I caught somebody stealing my tools in my own shop, lol, and in some of the job shops (Machine Shops) I worked at.
  24. Coooool, I hear ya on the tweak'in. Have fun.
