  1. That's a big time bummer. Sorry to hear that.
  2. Your Welcome Bruce, I hope you get it working so you can use it. I don't use my Spider Jam all the time so when it's sitting I unplug it. When I do use it I run the headphones jack into the "Line In" on my X3 Pro or "Aux In" on an HD500 or just play it right next to me between 4 and 6 on the master and tune the volume and drive to my liking add a little reverb and some delay. When I cank this up it really sounds great. I monitor alot with headphones too, keeps the noise down most of the time.
  3. Reflash, meaning reinstall the firmware for it. You will need no larger than a 2 gb sd card so you can format it in the Spider Jam and then download the current firmware, save it to the card and then reinstall it. Here's a link to the below: Click the above link and read the whole page so understand thouroughly.
  4. Mine did that a few times I don't remember doing anything about it and I haven't had the issue in a very long time, just last week I used it for 5 hours straight with no problem. If you keep having issues I would say reflash it.
  5. In the middle of this song I put together with an X3 Pro I play a Bass solo with a Schecter Elite 5. The HD500 is good too, also I don't just use bass amp models with it. I experiment as much as I can. I think you can easily get a good tone with a Bass & HD500. Vocoder

Check this out: It looks like you use the guitar input with the mic plugged in the xlr and when you select the vocoder it automatically pick up the signal from the guitar input, so don't use the mic as the input setting use the guitar.
  7. It's nice when you get a peice of equipment that does the job (tried & true) and stands the test of time I agree that string gauge makes a differnce in the reliability of the set-up as after I started using Daddario 10's from the really light strings the guitar came with I noticed increased tuning stability, I don't have to fiddle with the bridge anymore after the initial set-up and I can just pick up the guitar, play it and it sounds good, Then when I notice I have to tune it more often it's usually ready for new strings, which is quite some time between string changes.
  8. Thanks for the update, I've never experienced foot switch issues. I hope you get it fixed bud. Some people gig with them ok. I don't gig with it......yet. I just use them at home for recording my own stuff.

    Vocoder

That's a good question, I don't think so, you should try it though. I'm of the impression it only works with the mic input.
  10. That video is awesome, lol, saw it a while ago. Very impressive work they make it look so easy.
  11. Boy, that's disheartening to hear. I too am so careful with it, whenever I plug anything in I make sure I do it very carefully 'cause I know how easily things can break. It doesn't sound like something that's going to be easy to fix. You might call around to different places that fix stuff like that to get a good idea where you stand with it. I never had good luck finding people who repair things like this at a reasonable price in the past. Most of the time I had to either fix it myself or buy something new. Good Luck, I hope you find a better answer than mine.
  12. I have the X3 Pro and like all the I/O options If you like that sort of thing I would go for it. I also have the HD500 so I can MIDI my X3 Pro with the footswitches and of course just use it by its self.
  13. You might want to contact Line 6.
  14. This is the way I use a UX2 with GearBox: Monitor with the UX2's Heaphone out, plug it into an amp using the headhone out or analog out, plug in the USB and record with RiffWorks and/or Ableton Live Lite 8. Also, I've used the SPDIF out with no problems. I have no latency issues this way. I've also run the analog into the mic input of my PC and recorded with windows "sound recorder" and got good results. Looks like BigChase52 has the best way if your using Reaper as I haven't tried Reaper yet, and yes read the manual from time to time it's good info.
  15. I had this same problem some time ago. while I was setting the levels in the mixer in the GUI. Also, it happened with the pod reset & calibrated. All I could come up with was somehow that patch got corrupt. So I uninstalled the drivers and HD500 Edit with Line 6 uninstaller, restarted the computer (Win 7) then reinstalled the drivers and HD Edit. reflashed (not saving presets), reset, recalibrated and after that I was good.
  16. I know from experience that a resistor or even a fuse can look and measure good but be bad when it heats up.
  17. I use a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter for the headphones all the time.
  18. I have the UX2 and I still love the thing. I pipe it into anything I can find lol. For example using the headphones out into a VOX Mini 3's Aux input, Spider Jam's CD/mp3 input,or my Bose stereo.
  19. Yeah you can use stomp boxes with the Spider Jam. You start with the a clean channel (any of them) by turning down the drive and setting the stomp box accordingly.
  20. It's neat how things can turn around with the right info.
  21. I still have the UX2, I understand you don't do vocals but you still may want the ability to use the mic for other purposes.

    Complaint Dept

I hear ya dude, theirs nothing like something that's light on wieght (& your skeleton) and heavy on sound. Don't waste anymore of your body on foolish weight lifting (souinds like you already have as I have too) and save what energy and pain free days you (& I) have left on making some music. Rock-On and enjoy. I haven't been dissappointed with anything I've gotten from line 6, excet my DT50 is down and I need to get in for service. If there was any problem it was mostly me trying to understand how to navigate things and understanding what the nature of the device is after that it's all fun. The earlier you start learning how digital music works the faster you get to enjoy it.
  23. Thanks for telling us how your flash install went. I understand wholeheartedly, with these devices all sorts of things could be the cause of a particular issue. Also, I should have menioned that the ESN is missing in Monkey for my Amp. Don't understand why though. After looking into the ESN number missing on the DT50 I'm starting to think that they just don't have one.
  24. I use a rechargeable battery pack that I made with 8 Rechargeable D Cell batteries, a battery holder and cable. It has 10 Ah. Works great and I can even daisy a few pedals with it 'cause it lasts for days of playing.
  25. I just made a thread so I don't forget how I successfully reinstalled my DT50 flash memory. You can check it out, it may or may not help. My Thread >> DT50 Head flash memory update instructions Here's my instructions: DT50 Head Flash Memory Update; First update MIDI Device (MIDISPORT Uno) Go the website and download and install the most recent driver. Connect the MIDI cable properly and turn on Amp, I leave it in standby with speaker connected. Open the Latest Version of Line 6 Monkey, Click the "Change Device" button, Cilck the "I don't see my device" Button, in the next window select "Connect Using MIDI Cables". In the next window (MIDI Connection Configuration) select MIDI Out and select "MIDI Uno Out" and "MIDI Uno In" then select your specific "Line 6 Device" and when you click "ok" all those windows will close. Now you can initiate the Flash Memory Update. Basicly your setting the MIDI Parameters before the update. I have to do this everytime I want to reflash if I don't I'll get the "incorrect parameters" (Code x80000002) error message.
