The one thing I took from meambobbo's guide as a live player using HD500 into DT25, not a home recorder, is the idea of pre and post amp EQ to really shape your distortion and final tone. The insane amount of diversity you can get out of a single amp model just by shaping frequencies in and out of the amp is stellar. I used to only use a post amp EQ for final sculpting of my tones, but shaping that signal coming in really lets you choose what dirt tones you want. It's a great guide if you pick what you need out of it, and I applaud Bob for his efforts.

Podhd500x Alone Sounds Better Than My Dt25 In Full Power Mode!
stumblinman replied to Stratman82's topic in POD HD
I think we all lose money on the tone chase. Let us know what you think. When I finish my OR15H patch I'm building I will send it to you for comparison. It uses DT25 and HD500, so should be plug and play for you. I'm almost satisfied with it, so hopefully with work and coaching sports I will be done by the weekend. I will PM you when it's done. -
Pod Hd500 Tape Echo - Is It Supposed To Be Distorted?
stumblinman replied to giantspeaker's topic in POD HD
Generally you should give "best answer" credit to the person that gave you the suggestion, not to yourself because it gives that user a bit more street cred when they give answers. Just a thought. Glad folks were able to help you though. -
Philosophy, Skill Aquisition And Why I'm Falling Out With My Dt25
stumblinman replied to Stratman82's topic in DT50 / DT25
That is a sweet tone. Probably the only Orange amp I've heard that I actually like. Worth some experimenting with Pod and DT25. If you want that tone and that tone alone, I think you know what to do. -
Philosophy, Skill Aquisition And Why I'm Falling Out With My Dt25

It sounds like you are wanting us to make a personal tone decision for you. Use your Pod at home since you enjoy it. You talk about wanting a traditional tube amp to play as well. The DT can handle that. As a matter of fact, it's probably your best bet. You don't seem to know what tones you actually want, so downloading firmware 2.0 and putting up to 8 different amps into the DT will help you find a personal favorite tube amp sound. Once you know what you want, either stick to that tone on the DT and use your Pod for effects live, or sell the DT and buy your chosen amp to use live with the Pod. Standalone, the gain and tone differences between LVM and full volume mode are not that different on the DT25. I never use my DT25 in LVM with my HD500 because I use my rig live and all my tones are set up accordingly. If I am playing at home, I just turn down master volume on the amp and realize my practice time tone can be a little muffled since nobody cares. DT amps, like all tube amps, are meant to have best tones with some volume behind them. There you go. Home sound covered, live sound covered. If you spent half as much time concentrating on a good tone with DT25 standalone as you did tweaking your Pod, I think you'd be surprised at how good the amp sounds live. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are a bedroom player trying to prepare for playing out live? You have your bedroom tones. Spend some time tweaking pre tones and don't be afraid to add EQ pedals to your chain to add/subtract frequencies that natural tone stacks don't cover. Find the dirt tone you like and you can EQ it to be perfect. Good luck and happy noodling. -
I've always used KISS. I have a clean Marshall, an acoustic emulator with pedal in fx loop, a light OD based on Plexi and a Treadplate to cover heavier tunes. There's chorus, compressor, wah, tremolo, delay etc in there too. In my 20+ years of playing live with numerous different rigs, I've never had an audience member come up and say "You guys kicked lollipop, but your guitar tone didn't sound like the original recording by 'X'". KISS

You might think about getting an Eleven Rack instead. You can use the HD500 you have as a foot controller for it. Line 6 doesn't seem to dedicated to modeling lately. Been pretty much silent for a year now.
-
Because L6 must get a cut of them or something. EH tubes are about my last resort.
-
I figured crap was ok since it didn't get changed to lollipop.
-
Did you try some electronics contact cleaner into the switches? Unplug it obviously. Buy a can of the aerosol contact cleaner and spray all the foot switches one at a time and press them several times to work the cleaner in and try and clean out any gunk. Worth a try!
-
Crack it open and check your ribbon cables. Something may be loose or damaged. If it only happens when in looper mode, I would say hardware defect, especially if the reflash/reset/recal didn't fix it.
-
Holy crap, an actual Line 6 employee?
-
Whew! Good thing it's Friday!
-
Seriously though. You have to wonder why they don't do this, especially since they work with Bogner.
-
I've made a new drinking game. Every time Dean mentions his Eleven Rack, I take a shot. 😉

You do know there is a tuner in your pod, right? I say eliminate the extra pedal and then it's a non issue.
-
Was it a continuous tingle of current, or just a quick zap?

Can You Simulate A 12 String Guitar With A 6 String?
stumblinman replied to tochiro's topic in POD HD
A pitch shifter up an octave can help, but it has a hard time tracking multiple strings. Ends up kinda warbly and mushy. -
Hmm... Makes me want to test tone differences between standby on and standby off. See if one sounds different than the other.
-
I haven't. Gigged my DT25 numerous times and have not experienced that. I hope there are no lingering effects for you, unless it made you play better. If so, do it again! \m/

Yes. Buy it. Great amp. Both standalone and with Pod HD.

No reply from Scotty lately. Curious to see what his diagnosis was.

More conjecture. I'm going to add mine now. Perhaps the relay IS the dummy load the transformer needs. Makes more sense than saying its a transformer tapped line out then using power amp modeling, doesn't it? It says cabinet modeling, but not power amp. Either way, it is safe to run without a speaker attached.
-
Just got off the phone with L6 support. The tech said he uses his DT25 all the time with no speaker attached. Just xlr out to DI or recording interface. He also said his coworker does the same thing. He does leave it in standby, but says no speaker load is required. Since the line out is transformer tapped, that sounds good enough for me.
