  1. +6db is a level...This would be a percentage... 0-100%....The FX Loop in the HD can be run parallel maybe the MIX is O% in there...It might not be called MIX, but it is something close to that...I branched off and use the HD Desktop, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...Best of luck...I am guessing you are close to finding it...
  2. If your FX are fairly simple you can do with a dual tone patch...Set the HD in Studio direct...On your PA Chain, select a cab model and mic...On your AMP chain, set cab to none....Gate and Drive are up front and shared...You will need to duplicate the FX blocks on each chain and pan the mixer hard L and R to keep them separated... HD takes time to tweak for direct, but can work just fine....Turn RES LVL to 0% and Master down to where the fizz comes out...Those are the two main culprits that have bad defaults...
  3. GTR->HD GTR Input HD FX Send->AMP GTR Input AMP FX Send->HD FX Return HD 1/4 MAIN OUT (L or R)->AMP FX Return Insure you FX Block is on...Something like this happens when an amp has a parallel loop. You are sure it is serial? Usually a mix knob on the amp to serialize it...
  4. That's a great point...I had not really thought about a gear change to line level XLR and POOF... One thing about the impedance being off is that the bandwidth response is affected by it...Likely not very much, but the highend response will drop a bit and the buffer amp in the POD will compensate a little bit...couple that with noisefloor and it is basically a "sound bad" situation....Most likely you would only notice it on really clean tones or if you were running an acoustic or vocal thru the POD...Will sound like total crap with the impedance mistmatched like that...
  5. Yes, it can be done...I hacked the serial com and made a splitter to run my Spider Valve and Flextone III XL off the same Shortboard...The pinout is the same for HD...However, you have to clip all the wires save one...I think it's pin 6...There is a post in the archive on this mod. I will try to find it. It totally is not supported, but it does work...However, the way it works is that one of the devices becomes listen only...Pretty cool actually because you offset the banks and the patches between the devices...FX can be mutually exclusive...etc... But since you have HD Pro, I would think all you need is midi cables to control both of them from one shortboard...It would take a little programming, but seems pretty simple...
  6. One of the reasons I use the HD Desktop and a Shortboard...So people will not step on my tones...I have loathed all in one pedalboards since the RP1...You could get a pedalboard case and that might help keep people's feet off of it...You could just hardwire it...If you load it in a pedalboard case, that might be an option...Keep people from stepping on it and never worry about it getting unplugged...just a thought...
  7. I got my first BSOD with the HD Desktop last night while I was tracking a little bass line. It turned out the stupid Windows Update kicked in...After it restarted, all was back to normal. In 8 years, I have never had that happen with the HD Desktop. This is Windows 10...Same computer was used with the Desktop on Windows 8 and never had it happen at that time either...Might be time to move to Helix LT for me...
  8. If you are playing with another guitarist and you are trying to use a tone with a lot of distortion, you may have overdone it....Scooping mids and diming the drive is the very best to way to not cut thru...If you other guitar player is using a 60 watt tube amp, then he basically has 2-3 times the dynamic range that your SS 75 watt amp has...It will likely never compete with that if that is the case...Anyway, I suspect you are using a super saturated tone and likely don't have enough mids...That is ALWAYS how you cut thru...turn down the drive and turn up the mids until you cut thru...The cleaner it is, be better it will cut thru...Other things can be too much verb and delay....
  9. I am still mulling it over...Rack is out for me...LT has exactly the IO I need and I really like the smaller form factor....But damn those strips are so damn cool....congrats! I know you will love it!
  10. I think ZAP had one that was replaced about 6 years back. As far as I know, his is still working. My DT-50 is over 8 years old now and still has the original PT. It is a beast of a transformer. As long as it was manufactured correctly, it should work for a long time...BTW, I have ALWAYS run my gear on an AVR. Using nothing but a power conditioner and gigging is taking a huge risk. An AVR will insure that your gear ALWAYS sees input voltage within about 5% tolerance. I have been doing this since the 1980s and I still have gear from back then that still works just fine. Very rare that I have had to have repairs and out of the 8 amplifiers I have, I have never lost a PT....knock on wood.
  11. As previously mentioned, the XLR output on the POD is MIC LEVEL. The reason is that that the output models a microphone both in sonic response AND the actual level of the output. Your monitor XLR inputs are expecting LINE level and the signal will always be weak in this case because your monitors do NOT have a MIC preamp on board. If you want to use the XLR inputs, then you could use a stereo direct box and leverage the 1/4 outs of the POD so that you might send LINE LEVEL to your monitors. You are fighting a losing battle by bumping the line amp up that high as you will have a fairly high noise floor doing that because the impedance and level are incorrect.
  12. Contact Line 6 directly. You may have options you do not know about. You will likely need to provide them with the SN.
  13. Seems like you already made that decision...If the power connector is a show stopper, then you should move on if that is how you feel.
  14. Right on...mine will be used more often in live environments and beer and other unknown liquids always ends up in the pedal at some point...LT looks like it would take a bit more that...Helix rack, I would not have to worry about it, but it's just too damn big I think...
  15. ah yea, help me rationalize this lol! ...I played with one at Line 6 HQ just after release...My debate is more about the Rack vs the LT at the point....I do not like tone on the floor and much prefer a dumb controller (remember the RP-1?)...The Helix Rack and FC seems a bit big...anyhoo, decisions...
  16. hmmm.....DT25 would be most excellent. I have the head/cab and love it....However, if I were doing a strictly at home thing with an HD, I think I would go with a pair of Blackstar HT-1 heads with cabs...I played through one of those back in 2011 at NAMM when they came out...That is a fantastic amp IMO!....
  17. I am 8 years on my HD and about to do the same...I am also on the fence between Helix and LT...I know LT is better fit for what I do, smaller footprint, similar to the shortboard, etc....but damn, those scribble strips are so cool and useful...extra IO is good too...
  18. shot in the dark....I encountered something similar with my HD400... while it is powered ON and connected to computer via USB, unplug the USB...then power off the HD300...then power the HD300 back up...DO NOT CONNECT USB...See if you have sound.
  19. curious....I see 4CM as only being useful for recording...The nuance can be important if you want to capture that...The setup is too busy and not really conducive to the quick set changes I encounter playing out live and no one can tell the difference live anyway...Keeping the rig simple works better for me in live situations IME...
  20. I have a Flextone III XL, SV, SV MK2, DT50 and DT25...When I use the HD with any of those, I go power amp in...Generally COMBO power amp mode...STACK power amp mode is usually too scooped sounding for what I want to get... For the Vetta, you will need to put a dummy plug into the guitar input to turn on the power amp as it is switched on the input jack....Flextone III XL is the same...These amps actually work very nicely with the HD as you can run stereo and all that....
  21. Global Reset I think....left arrow on power up...that might clear it up...try saving it before modifying...
  22. Well, that's exactly the thing that XT doesn't do...You can PRE or POST FX in XT, but you cannot set the chain how you want...like reverb into flanger....You can set the 8 FX blocks in ANY order you like...All 8 before, All 8 after or any combination before and after...split post amp and run FX blocks parallel...oh and the amps and FX sound quite a bit better too...
