  1. you might need to set the output level on your trio FX send to instrument level...Also, make sure the POD output level is set accordingly,,,If it needs to be instrument, set the level to AMP....otherwise use LINE if you need line level.

tuning long sustain perhaps in tandem with a guitar whose intonation adjustments did NOT consider personal style pressure generally leads to some "sharp" criticism in one form or another.
  4. I used the PAF Pro for a very long time....I switched to using FREDs and Mojos for the bridge about 10-12 years ago...I use the Humbucker From Hell in the neck...My favorite neck pup ever... How does the 36th anv. compare?
  5. It was just a couple of guys I was talking to before these amps were released...doesn't matter...
  6. It really depends on what you like. I really do not like Vintage 30s at all. The Line 6 ones I have seem especially harsh....Bottom line for me is I would use Seventy80 over a Vintage 30 in any closed back cabinet. However, if the cabinet was open back I would use a Vintage 30 there as the cone is a lot stiffer and the low end doesn't fart out as bad as it does with the Seventy80 in that stiuation....
  7. It's interesting as I have been informed differently on the SVs, DT50 and DT25...I have been running Mesa tubes in both SVs, DT50 and DT25 ever since Line 6 sent them to me. I have been running slightly mismatched loads also. This was with very specific technical consultation...EL844 runs at about half the dissipation (~6 watts) and do not run nearly as hot as real EL84...They are an interesting choice, but I am not sure the bias pot has the range to do it properly or not...never measured it...
  8. There is no way to import as the files are quite different. The XT chain is basically fixed where the HD chain can be whatever you want it to be. When I first started using HD, I created my first patches using the same semi-fixed chain order as the XT. That kinda helped getting under it and doing some comparisons. It you used to combat the FIZZ in the XT with an EQ, I would suggest you try setting the Cabinet RES LVL to 0%....Master DEP going lower can help also... Basically, you could bring up patches in Line 6 Edit so you can see them and input approximations of what you had on XT....In terms of the AMP Models, the XT amps are more like the PRE models in the HD....power section modeling isn't as pronounced in the XT as what you get in HD...It does make it a bit different. enjoy!
  9. It's New Sensor Bro....They make them all...
  10. +1 on stop using the amp FS....what in the heck are you doing? lol! I am not sure you understood my post...sorry about that...maybe I used too much shorthand... You need to program one of the footswitches (FS) on the 500 to enable and disable the amp model...that is all.... when you disable the amp model in the 500, the DT will change from channel A (AMP on) to channel B (AMP off)... I agree with radatats that you can do everything in the 500...the amp disable (channel B) is kinda neat for having a goto tone...but it is really just a novelty IMO...I never found it useful because the system link is one-way and channel B cannot leverage post FX other than reverb...and all the post effects on the patch that are after the amp model turn into pre FX...I am sure it can be used for some things, but I would that limited.
  11. If re-flow fixes this, it sounds like tin whiskers to me...It happens with stuff this old sometimes...
  12. oh Doh...my bad...I forgot....The troubleshooter...I used the troublehshooter a few time to fix things like a wifi radio that keeps turning off on my son's computer...The troublehshooter is in Win7 also, but it's really lightweight...Looks like it all moved into the troubleshooter... Sorry if this is a repeat of something you tried... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/82306bd8-495b-098b-f39c-27bc01338a62/use-a-fix-it-tool-with-windows-10
  13. I enjoy using the looper to do little flamenco tracks ala "Les Paul" Black box stacking putting in percussion, bass, rhythm parts etc...But it's just for noodling...I mostly use the looper in PRE so I can tweak my tones without having to play...
  14. MS Fix it not working is a clue...Are you using a Normal account as opposed to administrator? I have never tried using a non-admin account...just a thought as that looks similar to security crashes I have seen before... The different cable is just troubleshooting process. I can't read your mind and see what you see. Have you tried a different computer? That test might save you some time in figuring out which hardware has the problem...It does sorta seem like a hardware problem...They tend to crash consistently no matter what you do....You have to elimiate one or the other because as this point you are doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results...IOW, insanity...best of luck to you.
  15. Global EQ is a basic parametric...fairly simple, but I have never needed it...However, the global EQ does NOT work over the System Link with a DT amp. The Global EQ only affects the analog outputs (1/4 and XLR).
  16. Did you run MS Fix it? Analyzing a crash dump is somewhat scientific. While the blue-screen will show you what crashed at the top level, it will not show you the trace to where the crash initiated. Might be worth a look? Anyway, another thing you could try is another computer if you have access to one...Basically, try to isolate if the problem is the POD or the computer...If it happens on another machine I would start to suspect maybe the USB connector has some hardware issue.... More stuff....Have you tried a different USB cable? Are the connectors clean? It is really difficult to guess what your issue is just by text. But I I do hope you are able to fix it...
  17. There are several camps...The FRFR purest that prefers to hear the tone fully processed...mic on a cab....Not the same thing as the raw sound of a guitar amp... There is another camp that prefer to hear their amp. some are a 45 degree off axis listener...some like to the side...basically, they want to hear the guitar cab....not the mic on the guitar cab. stage placement is a personal preference and logistics decision based on where you are playing...they are certainly sensible approaches....The bottom line is, you gotta find what works for you...there are bunch of ways to do either... You could go either way with a Helix...It mostly depends on what you like. I prefer the sound of a guitar amp...I like to have it behind me or to the side depending on the venue...I generally take no guitar in my monitor...I have run FRFR and it can sound great...I can do it, but I don't like how the guitar interacts with tweeters in the cab....just not into that for myself... I would recommend a monitor with coaxial speakers...While I don't like tweeters in FRFR, I do like coaxials over conventional monitors with the horn separated...There are million options out there... I played thru a pair of these and thought they sounded great...really compact, and really clean...If I were to go FRFR, I would go with these or something similar. Good luck! https://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com/collections/monitors/products/powered-12-inch-coaxial-monitors
  18. I took a glance at the drivers. Is you video card an Nvidia by chance? I don't have much left offer you on this...but here is an article with some information...video driver interactions causing issues is fairly common...On laptops, it is common for power management of some sort is usually the culprit...You could try turning power management off on the video card to see if it helps...If it does, you could try going back to an older driver...The thing that is a little article concerning nividia drivers and some things you can look at. Basically, you will find a few things and the basic concepts could apply to the chipset also... http://windowsreport.com/nvidia-driver-crash-windows-10/ You can also try installing MS Fixit and see if it gleans some more information on the crash cause. https://fix-it-center.en.softonic.com/
  19. The DT 412 cab is crossloaded with 2 vintage 30s and 2 Line 6 Celestions that are basically Seventy80s....They are NOT neutral speakers. I have a DT50 combo and I use Jenson Jet Neos...Better match for the amp IMO....also, they weigh 4 lbs each...just keep the load close and within reason and you will be fine...
  20. This is a reach....Have you tried all of the USB ports on your laptop....It is possible for a laptop motherboard to have a USB hub....Usually, the left side ports are hubbed....The single right side port is usually a home run to the root controller. Again, you might have tried this.... Would you mind sharing the Make and Model# of your computer?
  21. good tip....ASIO for all is not needed with Pod HD.
  22. That's a great tip on the comparability mode.. definitely worth a shot IMO. chipset and bios updates should available from the manufacturer. depending on the computer, the low level drivers that make the USB work are contained in the chipset and/or the bios. Either way, with newer computers it is pretty common for there to be a several updates within the first year. I have a Sony VAIO that is several years old but is pretty decent machine. It had Windows 8 on it when I got it and going to Windows 10 took a BIOS and chipset update that I had to wait for Sony to certify before I jumped to 10. I could have gone sooner as I know how to pull the OEM drivers and put them....I also use Reaper and have only gotten the bsod once and it was pretty recent after I first went to Win10. a couple of years now I guess. As a matter of habit, I always disable the power management on the USB hardware. This can cause havoc on some machines...other machines have not issue. All it means is that the not all USB controllers on motherboards are created equal. open the device manager and hit the properties for your USB stuff, it's possible this is part of the issue. It does seem to be more common on laptops than desktops when it fixes the issue (my Sony is an all in one 22" tablet type like the one the always have on that Silicon Valley sitcom) I attached a image of the dialog.
  23. Nothing builtin for backing tracks, but there is a CD/MP3 input you can use to play along with backing tracks with an ipod or whatever. In terms of the Mic input, you can create a dual chain patch where you have your guitar on one chain and your guitar on the other. You can use what ever FX you like. you have 8 blocks you can choose to apply to either chain. FX loop is a block like any effect.
  24. You might want to consider saving channel 1-12 for mics and instruments that need the bigger processing chains. If you run your Helix into a pair of channels between 13-16, those are line inputs that have lighter weight processing chains that work great for line input instruments. All depends on how many channels your a using on the md20. My uses an md20 to record rehearsals. 8 channels of drums (mics), bass and 3 vocals are in 1-12. My guitar is 13-14 and keys in 15-16...just a thought...if you did that and needed the XLR outs, you can just adapt to TRS... If you wanted to leave your Helix at Line level and use a 1-12 channel, then just adapt to TRS...I actually run our kick and snare mics (D112 and beta 57) into TRS in channel 1 and 2 adpated to TRS because the md20 input will not trim down quite enough. I am not a fan of the auto trim feature.
