  1. X3 Live for 4CM..Beans don't have FX Loops...4CM is doable on an HD Bean, but more trouble than it is worth imo...never tried an X3 bean...maybe... I think the amp models in the SV are better than the X3...I only needed a few additional FX to supplement the original SV where they fell short...just a shortboard to switch patches and some stomps...I have done 4CM, to me it just isn't worth the trouble...
  2. Oh my, I have not heard that one in years. I think that was Neil Diamond's guitarist that was making those. As I recall, he had basically created a dialed in passive EQ network to get the fizz out of a POD XT if I remember right...Some said it was just a low pass filter...I never heard one...I remember him selling them tho...oh and some of those threads were truly classic.
  3. The original Spider Valve is one of the best sounding amps Line 6 ever made...MK2 does not sound as good. I have both...There is no connectivity for PODs on a SV other than using the power amp in (1/4 cable)...The System Link is reserved for the DT amplifiers and the HD500/HDPro PODs. The modeling on the original SV is sorta like 2.0, but each model was tweaked by Rheinhold Bogner and it is very obvious to me that it is a special sounding amp...However, the FX control is a bit limited. When I was playing out with mine, I used some BOSS pedals to supplement because of the limited control. Something else to consider is that these amplifiers have been out of production for a long time and there are no parts...The power amp board is very simple and repairable as it is much like any other class AB tube power amplifier, but replacement DSP boards no longer exist... If you are interested in a POD, I would suggest looking for a HD500 or HD500X...Better than an XT or X3 IMO...Nothing wrong with XT or X3, they can sound great too.
  4. I thought I did...PRE models the preamp only....FULL models (without PRE) models both the preamp and the power amp...
  5. Active guitar? Something like that can happen when the battery is low...Does this happen with headphones only.
  6. I think your speakers expect Line level...You will need to use the 1/4 outs with your POD set to LINE. You can use DI boxes if you feel the need to balance the lines and use XLR....The XLR outputs on the POD are MIC level...If that isn't it, check that you are in studio direct mode.
  7. See the word PRE after the AMP MODEL name? PREAMP models do not have power amp model parameters...use the Treadplate...NOT the Treadplate Pre
  8. Moved this over here so perhaps someone can help you out.
  9. You have to move the FX around the amp...Amps do not move.
  10. I had a Flextone IIIXL back in those days and had my old ADA MP-1 running out front as a tube buffer and programmable EQ using midi to switch it...Worked great, but just too much to haul around...

    Signal Routing

Using a single chain makes sense that it might bleed...Anyway, for what it's worth, I use a dual amp patch for my splits...basically, the amp model is set to NONE on the lower chain. My guitar chain is on the top chain. I am using a guitar and mic input and isolate where Left is guitar and Right is vocal. I am generally just using a Vintage PRE only on the vocal chain...delay and a plate for live...sorry I do not have a photo handy...
  12. you have to send the changed patches to commit the changes to the POD...Or you can hit Save on the POD, Change the Name and hit save again...

    Signal Routing

Perhaps if you posted a patch or picture of your chain, it might help us determine what is going on for you...If you put one reverb on the end, you will get bleed since it will be shared when the stereo chains are merged...I track guitar and vocal separately all the time for initial original demos with my HD. Not quite the same situation, but I do not have any bleed...
  14. One thing we do is knock our PA amp levels down so the master can run around -6 db or so...How much depends on the room...This makes the Main Mix track a bit more nominal venue to venue...
  15. Make sure that you are using the proper power supply...The old XT supplies will not work properly for an HD, although they will fit the jack, as they are 9VAC....The proper power supply is 9VDC...

    Usb Hubs

The reason as to do with USB architecture and how streaming mode works. USB is a Master/Slave specification that utilizes interrupts to stop other slaves in order for data to be transferred between the computer (master) and the device (slave)...putting a hub in between exacerbates the interruptions of streaming mode. Basically, what will happen is streaming activities like audio and firmware updates can be interrupted fatally when a hub is used. The computer already has a hub built-in to split out more inputs for the bus...splitting one of those again actually puts two hubs between the computer and the device...Additionally, more devices on the bus can introduce more interruption... Especially devices that stream data like live cameras and printers.
  17. No, that is as high as the HD will go...you are up sampling if you go higher than that...nothing wrong with that...if you have the space go for it.
  18. 24 bit is max bit depth for HD...
  19. Same is intended for Dual Amp patches so you can drive both chains...When you use the Same setting on a single Amp patch, the signal increases by about +6 db...This is actually useful for some amp models to get a bit more break up with the drive lower...The Park is one of the models I use the same setting on...However, there are some FX that model clipping and you can overdrive the FX block model much like you would the real thing if you actually manage to double the output of your guitar...Anyway, best thing to do is use your ears...no rules, just basic guidance.
  20. No, I am saying do not bother with the SV preamp or 4CM...Just setup your patches on the HD and connect a 1/4 out to the SV Power Amp in...4CM is NOT worth it on the MK2 IMHO...MK1 is totally worth it to my ears as those models were tweaked by RB and still hold up today...Especially with an SV PRE...This is just my opinion...All the same FX are in HD and sound way better to my ears than the MK2 modeler...
  21. If you had a MK1, I would say 4CM would be worth it...With a MK2 (have both amps)m the HD models and FX are much better than anything in the MK2 modeler...I would suggest, just go Power amp in off the 1/4 out and avoid the 4CM complexity...just my opinion.
  22. One thing to note on Saving DSP is if you are using a tube power amp, you could use a PRE model to feed that chain and save a LOT of DSP...
  23. One way to test if you have the Marshall setup right is to just run the HD conventionally and run to the FX Return of the Marshall only...If the Marshal loop is parallel, you will get next to nothing in terms of signal...I suspect the Marshall isn't like you think it is...Other guitarist in one of my bands has one and it's a real pain to get that thing setup right...At least when he first got it...
