I do something similar with my old Flextone III XL...Just basically a Vetta II Lite....If you use the FX returns, you will need to put a dummy plug in the guitar input as there is a power amp mute switch on that...you also have to make sure the FX Loop is on...On the Flextone, it powers up with the FX Loop enabled regardless of the patch saved state...Not sure if the Vetta is the same in this regard...I think it is....works great for me.
-
I still think you would be better off jumping thru a Red BOX DI....Much less hassle and no chance of running out of DSP...The Behringer is cheap and works just fine for a cab sim for a monitor...only about $20-30 US and your patches don't have to change...
-
You program it that way....You will need a dual amp patch to do it...Top Chain is A and Bottom Chain is B...
-
Yes, if you use a dual amp patch, you can do what you want...However, you need to insure that your monitor has a mic pre if you choose to use the XLR. If it doesn't have a mic pre, it will likely be a bit noisy...You will need to put a dummy plug in the other 1/4 out...or you could just use a DI to drive the monitor....If you only use one 1/4 out, ALL of the outputs will sum mono...

I actually had the 300 lbs drunk guy slip and land squarely on his back on my shortboard mk1 way back when I was using a Flextone IIIXL....He had two rows of dents in his leather jacket from the buttons...and he was in pretty severe pain after that...It sobered him up...luckily the Shortboard came out unscathed by that incident...
-
You are going to need to get something like an Hughes & Kettner Red Box DI to put on the output to feed the monitor with the cab simulation...The Behringer copy is actually pretty decent and 1/3 the price.

Have you tried Global Var reset? Hold Down Arrow on power up I think it is...

Can The PODHD500 Be Powered Through A USB Powerbank?
spaceatl replied to SamGuitar91's topic in POD HD
Seems doable to me...The Powerbank looks like the way I would go if it were me...The real draw is about 1.5A, so the 2.4A MAX seems like a decent fit...However, because you would be doubling the voltage, the mAh will be a bit less that 50% of the rating of 10000 mAh...So you might be looking at perhaps 3 hours of time on a full charge with the HD alone... -
I use my old Flextone IIIXL in the rehearsal studio and just leave it there...Works great...close the back and they work even better!

POD HD400 using 4CM to B52 head in effects loop as EFFECTS ONLY
spaceatl replied to fretburner1699's topic in POD HD
Just a note...When you bypass an amp model, there is a bypass volume that remains...You set it with the Channel Volume control...As I recall, when you go back to factory, the bypass is restored to nearly full...It's another level control...Sorry I forgot to mention that in my post. It has been a few years since I had my HD400 and I am doing this from memory. They are a little different than the 500... -
The sound is identical. However, if you gig a lot and prefer you tone in the backline the PRO makes a lot of sense...Also, less cables on the front of the stage, no bending over to tweak and shorter cable runs to your amp if it's in the backline...just depends on your preference...I use an HD Desktop for that reason...similar in that i can put it in the backline and just have one CAT5 running to the dumb footcontroller...and if beer gets spilled in it or a 300lbs drunk accidentally falls on it, my sound is safe in the backline.

POD HD400 using 4CM to B52 head in effects loop as EFFECTS ONLY
spaceatl replied to fretburner1699's topic in POD HD
Make sure you have the FX Loop level switch right and the Main switch right...Just use an amp and save the patch with the amp disabled (left switch in AMP mode as I recall)....That's how I did it when I was on beta for the HD400...You gotta tinker with the send level and the AMP LINE switch... Try just wired for GTR->POD INPUT / FX Send->AMP Input and check that the level is the same as the guitar into the amp alone...takes a few minutes of tinkering...once you get that right add the other two cables...at that point it should be a bit closer.... -
No problem...This is fairly well known and documented in many articles...If it wasn't for Mathews, tubes would be way more expensive than they are now...He saved the Reflektor factory and put it in American hands. I do not know him, but I have followed this since the early 2000s when it all went down...
-
Actually, New Sensor owns the factory and the brands EH, Tungsol, Mullard, Genelex, Svetlana, Sovtek, Tesla and JJ....EH is nothing more than just another brand that is printed on the Russian tubes that ALL come from the same factory owned by New Sensor...

US retail return laws actually a negative for music

Those that feel entitled tend to complain the loudest. I think what is read online is misleading as to what the true numbers are as I think most of us keep our head down and do our thing and ignore the lollipopbirds...As OBK said, "Only a Sith Lord deals in absolutions", so I really would not tend to label everyone in a country as permeating an observed behavior based on forum observations....100x more people use products that do not participate...jus' sayin' and just my opinion. All the best! -
Does this happen when the POD is disconnected from the computer...No Edit...Edit is notorious for little weird crap like that...I NEVER use Edit to tweak because of that...don't trust it...

That really sounds strange...sorta like an active guitar with a battery going dead...Does this happen in the headphones also?
-
try parking all of the knobs at zero and recall a patch...It might be that you have a knob that is jittering...drive or channel vol...
-
Not sure...by signal loss what do you mean exactly...The volume drops suddenly? Need a bit better description or perhaps you could record and post a clip?
-
Drive by most likely...Probably a competitor...They always put that kind of garbage in their first post.

That's a great approach. I really like the H&K Redbox too...But a Palmer box is the bomb!
-
Usually that problem is just turn down the gain and maybe bump up the mids a bit to cut thru...Especially with a second guitarist...I am sure you know that already...However most of the Marshalls other than the Park have a Master DEP default that is too high...But since you are using a tube amp, I would expect you are using a PRE model which doesn't have a DEP...If you are using a FULL model, that might be part of your problem as you would basically be doubling the power amp coloration using s FULL model...Nothing wrong with that if you like the result, but it's not really typical...and I am just grasping at straws here anyway because I cannot hear what is going on for you. good luck.

Sound of my POD HD500x is very thin when playing with others over pa
spaceatl replied to MarcoLikesTeles's topic in POD HD
I run my POD into flat channel strip...Works great on 99% of the PA systems I have gone thru...Every once in a while you run into that bozo that thinks crossing over 2 inch horns at 2K is a good idea and wonders why her can never get the vocals to jump out of the mix...Anyhoo, I just tell the engineer, start flat and you might need a bit to fit the room....I tweak my patches with near field reference monitors and reference cans...
