  1. I suggest get a can of Caig DeOxit Contact spray and a very short blast into the External Expression pedal jack input. Then use any guitar cable and insert /remove a few times as this action will "clean" any oxidation from the jack's internal switch contacts The External Expression pedal jack is a switching type and often on new gear the Asian jack component vendors use a thin anti corrosion coating on the metal contacts -perform the above on any mechanical electrical contact that is intermittent or makes noise. My theory is the marginal switching Jack on the external expression pedal jack is momentarily opening up and creating the problem of no signal.

  3. Yes - I own several self powered Monitors - and prefer my pair of Alpha 112A - they are lighter and louder than my EV ELX112P's Alesis Alpha 112A Reviews: http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=12481.msg90635#msg90635
  4. FWIW - the new Live Edit Mode in Firehawk FX 1.10 firmware provides a means of setting the Delay time in 1 bpm increments - using the data wheel
  5. IMHO - Best value self powered speakers that work excellent with all DSP Amp / FX Modeling systems are the Alesis Alpha 112A - they are built in the same factory as Alto TS112A http://alesis.com/alpha112 Ebay $199/ea (Buy Two for Stereo) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alesis-Alpha-112-Active-2-Way-12-1000-Watt-Loudspeaker-with-Built-in-Alesis-DSP/331506696165?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140602152332%26meid%3Dec232c8958624821a40763c3bb85206f%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D331437629649
  6. Just a reminder for others - I suggest check the state of the rear "OUTPUT MODE SWITCH" If this Switch is in the "AMP" position you get a complete loss of Guitar signal from both the XLR and Headphone Outputs
  7. Vote! http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Firehawk-FX-USB-Re-Amp-Feature-+-MIDI-control-message-over-USB/727710-23508?submitted=1 I want a USB "Re-Amp" capability - with the ability to set the USB Send and USB receive points at any point in the signal path: the major benefit is Firehawk FX sales would triple if it could be used as a platform for running IOS Guitar FX (NOI.ise FLUX:FX, Johnny tremolo, etc) . I seek this type flexibility for the USB Audio connection in Firehawk: + Add ability for Firehawk to transmit over USB some basic MIDI Patch change messages and MIDI CC# messages over its existing USB 2.0 Class Compliant interface - and everyone wins!
  8. Correct - if you use the phone to place your order they will honor the discount code. http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=15254.msg108996#msg108996
  9. Ive been playing with a Firehawk most of the evening. There is a lot to like about it. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/firehawk/firehawk-faq-r715 1st thing I did was install the ASIO Driver on one of Windows 7 machines, install the Line-6 updater 1.03 app, launched and updated the Firehawk FX to Firmware 1.10. My Firehawk FX review is based upon the latest 1.10 FW update Ive been using my Audio Technica ATH-M50X headphones, and JTV-69 Guitar, and Installed the Firehawk Remote IOS app on my iPhone 6 Plus - the patch change delay is not bad approx 100ms ( much faster than Roland GR-55) and zero audio dropouts when changing patches while streaming music backing tracks over bluetooth into the Firehawk. The LCD Display is very crisp and legible from all off axis viewing angles, and I really like that there is a dedicated Reverb knob and FX Tweak knob, without need to dive into menus if working without the Firehawk Remote Editor running an iPhone/iPad. Many factory Preset Tones are quite usable for a gig, Firehawk FX Factory presets PDF http://line6.com/data/6/0a06438916a4755651e331a025/application/pdf/Firehawk%20FX%20Factory%20Presets%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf Its very lean on I/O compared to HD500/HD500X, but having access to the nice Firehawk Remote Editor on my iPhone or ipad makes for a fast / easy setup / teardown and minimal cables. The Firehawk is a bit more advanced compared to the AMPLFI products - Firehawk comes with a mix of PodFarm and HD Amp models, and the FX are decent. there is even the monophonic Synth FX from the HD500. the cool thing is that once the Firehawk is paired via Bluetooth with my iPhone 6 Plus , I can use any IOS music app - even synth apps like bs-16i. I can play the bs-16i keyboard on the the iPhone screen and the audio output streams wirelessly over Bluetooth to Firehawk under 100 ms - which is rather amazing, considering all my prior Blutooth 4.0 LE audio streaming experiments had huge 300ms-600ms latency . Already I prefer Firehawk over my HD500. Firehawk is whisper quiet, excellent dynamic range - no Hum, even when I used the Normal Mag Single coil PUs on my JTV-69, and I'm in a rather noisy EMF environment in an industrial building. The Tone Matching tool actually works rather well, I was surprised that when I played arcane tunes in my iTunes library, the Line-6 Firehawk Tone match tool would suggest 6 or 8 patches from the cloud, and in seconds I was in the ball park for playing along with the tune. So I my questions to those who are suffering 1/2 second patch changes on Firehawk FX : * Have you updated to the latest 1.10 Firmware? * Are you using a recent IOS device that employs Bluetooth 4.0 LE ? i suspect if you are using an older IOS device that does not employ Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy), (like an older 1st or 2nd gen iPad) you may suffer longer patch change times. On my Firehawk FX - some patches do take a bit longer and occasionally I hear a momentary 50 millisecond jump in volume, but Id much rather suffer these in exchange for zero dropouts / zero mutes of my Bluetooth streaming Audio backing tracks. Good Job Line-6 !
  10. I suspect hes asking if through some magic the Helix could perform "Guitar to MIDI" conversion - so existing JTV Variax's could drive MIDI Tone Modules. Not really possible as the VDI interface does not provide 6 separate string channels

    Helix FAQ

Will each of these Scribble Strip LCDs have independent LCD Contrast control? I ask because the Sweetwater Helix demo reveals these LCDs suffer the same "poor contrast" issue as the HD500 / HD500x. From my perspective the Helix LCD Scribble Strips have poor contrast and barely legible from various off axis viewing angles. My same complaint with the impossible to read LCD display on HD500/ HD500X, which requires constant twiddling of its contrast adjust as the viewing angle changes when it heats up.
  15. If its USB Class Compliant ( like the Line-6 Firehawk), and has superior Amp sounds than the current POD HD series -this gets interesting 8 I/O USB Audio Channels ! Seems primed and ready for an updated Variax with separate channels per string over the VDI interface But this $1.5k+ pricing for Line-6 Helix pushed this into Kemper / Fractal Axe FX territory - Will Roland step up to the challenge? FWIW - I know Thomas Nordegg (Steve Vai) emphatically told Line-6 to employ similar ergonomic capabilities of the RJM MasterMind GTFootcontroler - with Color Displays and separate LCD screens per pedal http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=15254.msg108880#msg108880 But our world still needs a decent Foot Controller with 24 bit Audio I/O and MIDI Foot Controller that is USB Class Compliant So far the best practical iPad Guitar rig is Adrian Belews Focusrite iTrack Dock + KMI SoftStep2 - so we can use Positive Grid BIAS FX on our iPads FireHawk FX comes damn close - perhaps firmware update could add a USB Re-Amping function and make this possible?
  16. Great idea! FWIW - I ordered these to mount on bottom Rear of the Firehawk http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C100Y80?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 Set of 4 Med-Small Rubber Feet For Speakers, Amps, Pedalboards, ETC. 11/16" Diam. 13/32" Tall Penn-Elcom F1694
  17. My other "trick" I hope to pursue: I'm looking at creating a break out box mod to provide the missing MIDI Out ( to allow Firehawk control other gear) via the Variax VDI jack I'm hoping if I launch an IOS MIDI Monitor ( like MIDI Wrench, etc.) and then launch the Firehawk Remote on iPad, hopefully I can "see" some MIDI messages being exchanged on the iPad. I suppose my dream would be to use the Firehawk hardware as a remote controller / audio interface for BIAS, Amplitube, and be able to control using any available MIDI messages. We live in an era where a 24 bit Audio USB Class Compliant Foot pedal with MIDI I/O would sell big time IMHO.
  18. Or another Line-6 device with the Variax VDI port POD HD500, HD500X, POD HD Pro or FireHawk
  19. The Firehawk connects to IOS devices as a 24-bit/48kHz audio USB Class Compliant Device You may need to convert 44.1kHz audio files to 48kHz type?
  20. I'm hoping Line 6 can update the FireHawk Firmware so it has more controls on its USB Audio connections. My goal is use FireHawk as a clean 24 bit Audio Interface for iPad running third party Amp sims. (Same as I currently do with a 10 year old Digitech GNX3000) With luck the FireHawk foot pedals transmit MIDI messages via the USB Class Compliant interface - but not holding my breath. Should know next week when my Firehawk arrives!
  21. Available August 2015 here: Andertons UK http://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-parts/pid22333/cid708/line-6-replacement-jtv-james-tyler-variax-battery.asp
  22. Might be a USA model? Review the Tyler Variax Types here http://line6.com/guitars/
  23. I like XTrem and Guitar Fetish. See my guitars with GFS XTrem here http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=6125.msg88435#msg88435 But for JTV-59, the modified Bigsby B7 is the only type I'd use
  24. I mentioned the same situation yesterday ( see a few posts above):
