  1. I’m guessing it would be the ones modelled on an actual Marshall amp. Here’s a website that can help you determine which ones those are. www.helixhelp.com
  2. What you are hearing is the unaltered tuning of the natural string vibration. If you're hearing it on the E and B strings you can likely hear it on the other strings as well. You'll be surprised at how well your ears pick up the natural acoustic sound. To convince yourself, you can do a few things to block the acoustic sound of the strings: turn the volume up really loud; wear closed back headphones; record a sample (only the altered tuning will be recorded).
  3. Actually, the title you chose for this thread is more accurate. This is Steinberg’s decision. Are you expecting all plug-in producers in the world to adapt to Steinberg’s decision and update their old plugins to VST3? Or do you just want to single out Line 6? Other DAW manufacturers will follow in time. As you say, the future is VST3 (at least for now). But I understand that you’d rather place blame on anyone but Steinberg. You have good reason to want to continue with Cubase. There are plenty of VST3 compatible plugins, including Helix Native. But to continue with Cubase you will no longer be able to use Pod Farm (or any other non-VST3 plug-in) at the point that Steinberg stops supporting VST2.
  4. Can you be more specific? ‘Everything’ is a bit broad. What exactly are you doing when this error is generated? Does the Edit program open at all, or does this error occur immediately upon opening? What happens if you hit the OK button? My first guess is that your version of Pod GO Edit is different from the installed firmware version. Check your versions using the ‘About…’ feature in Pod GO Edit. If the versions are the same we need more details to help you.
  5. Also you can find generally higher quality presets available at reasonable cost in the Helix Marketplace website.
  6. I really don’t know much about Fractal. How many products do they have?
  7. Sorry… there’s no ‘but’ about it. Having said that, I don’t personally have any information about it. Having said that, that’s exactly what I’d be required to say even if I did. So you’re not going to get a definitive answer. And any answer you do get is pure speculation (as BAmartin acknowledged) unless you hear it from a Line 6 employee who is either authorized to say it or is about to lose their job.
  8. Check the setting on the Input block. If your presets are set to use just the Guitar input the wireless input is ignored. When using wireless make sure the Input setting is Wireless or Guitar+Wireless.
  9. Yes, a constant issue in the computing industry. All manufacturers discontinue support for all software and hardware products eventually. Anything else you purchase now will also be discontinued eventually. But you do have another short term option that you didn’t mention. Instead of switching your plug-in you could switch your DAW from Steinberg to some other DAW that still supports VST2. Or, simply don’t upgrade your version of Cubase when the new release drops VST2 support. You could also post this in the Steinberg forums and encourage them to revisit their decision.
  10. I believe you can transfer the Helix Native license associated with your Helix Floor as long as you have owned the Helix Floor for at least 6 months. I know there’s detailed information posted by Line 6 about doing this but I can’t seem to find it in the Knowledge Base at the moment. I suggest you open a support ticket to talk directly with Line 6 who will guide you through the license transfer possibility for your license and associated procedures. Your new (not used) Helix Stomp will allow you to purchase a new Helix Native license at the discounted price.
  11. Yes, true. I have tried lower impedance headphones and they’re fine on their own but I find they are generally heavier on the low end and don’t match as well with FRFR speakers. Presets sound more alike when using either the headphones or speakers with the 990s. You’ll find lots of threads here discussing a dramatic difference in how presets sound, and associated preset tweaking required, when using headphones vs. FRFR speakers. I find the higher impedance phones deliver a more similar sound and don’t require tweaking. Easier for me to find settings that work well for both. I like the open-back nature of the 990s as well. I think that also contributes to the less boomy sound. I think any high impedance open back headphones will be good, not necessarily the 990s. I think those are the main features to look for. Comfort is also an important ergonomic factor. You might find something less costly from another manufacturer.
  12. This has been my experience too. For recording, nothing beats a properly mic’d quality acoustic guitar. For live play I also like the convenience of the Variax. I’ve also found that I need to soften my playing style, especially strumming, to avoid some of the piezo nastiness. But very good results are achievable. The possibilities with Variax and Helix are amazing. Jethro Tull’s song Aqualung is a good example. My preset uses the Variax mag pickups in standard tuning in one path as well as a custom tuned Variax acoustic model in the other path. The Helix onboard pedal is assigned to blend the two sounds so I can instantly move from the standard tuned electric to the capo’ed acoustic. I should probably assign the move to a footswitch rather than the pedal because you really don’t want the blend of different tunings, but I’ve gotten used to the pedal and it works for me.
  13. I use the DT 990 Pro phones and I’m very happy with them.
  14. The physical outputs on Helix are labeled to indicate this. Outputs labeled L/Mono indicate that the signal is summed to mono if only that output in the stereo pair is used. Outputs that are not labeled as such carry only their side of the stereo signal. The manual clearly states that the Return blocks are mono. I expect the Send blocks are similar but I’m not sure. It may depend on whether you use a TS (mono) a or TRS (stereo) cable. To be sure it’s summed to mono you could place a mono FX block (e.g. Simple EQ) immediately before the Send block.
  15. I could list some but it might not be comprehensive or completely accurate. I wouldn’t want to mislead you so I won’t do that. The best way to get a complete and accurate list would be to consult the product descriptions available under the Products tab at the top of this page. I suppose you might find someone willing to do that for you, but unless they tell you they’ve done that their response might also be incomplete and/or inaccurate. It won’t really take you long. If you’re so inclined, after doing that you could report it here so that someone else who has the same question will have e verified accurate list!
  16. If you have not purchased the discounted license associated with your HX Stomp that essentially increases the resell value of your HX Stomp. The purchaser of your used HX Stomp will find that they are able to use the discount because the serial number of that device remains unused for Helix Native discount purposes. Conversely, if you sell your Helix Rack the new owner would find themselves unable to use the discount because that device serial number has already been used.
  17. I don’t know what/who DNB is, but based on the lack of response here you might look at alternatives. For instance, if they are a band you can try to find out what analog gear they use and start with the closest Helix models you can find to match that gear.
  18. I haven’t read this entire thread so forgive me if I am overlooking a previous comment…… No, it means that you can’t transfer/resell your discounted Helix Native license at any price. The discounted license is tied to the associated Helix hardware device via serial number; it is not owned by you personally but it is associated with your Line 6 account. Note that anyone can download and install the Helix Native software. However, it won’t run on a computer until it is successfully associated and authenticated with a Line 6 account and authorized to run on a specific computer. I’m not sure about the administrative details in transferring a full-price Helix Native license to another person but Line 6 must be involved somehow to remove the license from your account and transfer it to another account. That transfer will only be done by Line 6 for non-discounted (full price) licenses.
  19. Trying to explore things that would not be hardware or firmware related, but a setup problem….. Is this 10% occurrence within the same preset or are you switching presets? Is it possible that a Vol/Gain block in the preset is set to Min in the toe position? As a workaround, can you assign a footswitch rather than the pedal toe switch to turn the FX on/off?
  20. You mean you're better off now for not having had the book sooner? Maybe you should have waited longer. There's probably another update coming sometime - and heaven forbid we may have to wait 24 hrs again before getting it. ;-)
  21. Same here. Called the Customer service number, waited about 15 minutes to have the call answered, then they sent me an email with an updated download link. Worked perfectly. They will get it sorted out eventually but in the meantime this is your best option I think.
  22. For those who already have a Katana I guess the reason would be an improvement in the quality of the modelling. And if you don't feel there's any improvement then there's really no reason. Glad you're happy with what you've got.
  23. That seems to confirm that the problem is, indeed, a dirty pot. It needs cleaning rather than just vigorous rotation.
  24. Artifacts will happen when you instantaneously change values in many amp/FX settings. Often the cause is a dramatic change in a time-based parameter like delay or chorus, or a significant change in amp gain. Happens with analog pedals too when you twist the dials rapidly.
  25. The selection of mags or model is made in the Input block. You select either Variax Magnetics or Variax (modeling). These are mutually exclusive. selections at the physical input level and are not parameters in the sense that they can be assigned to the Snapshot controller. I have presets that allow me to switch between mags and models using an expression pedal. I use a dual-path preset with Input 1 = Variax Magnetics and Input 2 = Variax. I include a Vol or Gain block in each path and assign them to the same pedal, e.g. EXP-1. I then assign the Min/Max values for each so that I can mute one path or the other, or blend both. There are other ways such as using a switch to toggle the pedal values to 0 and 100, oppositely, at each press of the switch. These parameter changes can be assigned to Snapshots if you wish. But you can't use Snapshots to change a Variax Magnetics Input setting to a Variax model.
