  1. Normally you can add new registered gear in your Account Settings (not profile). If you click on the little downward pointing arrow beside your username in the top right area of this page you will see a drop-down menu with an item call Account Settings. Go there and you should be able to modify a number of settings including your registered gear. However, at the moment the Account Settings selection from the drop-down menu is not working for me.......... Is it working for you?
  2. No, I'm not talking about hardware. I haven't been a software designer for many years but I once was. I think it's important to note that, while just software, Workbench runs on a PC/Mac computer platform. The current connectivity using Helix simply transmits commands to/from the PC and the Variax. I don't think the Workbench software is actually running on Helix; I think it is not currently capable of running on the Helix platform. So while I have no idea how much effort is involved I'm pretty sure it's not zero.
  3. I expect full Workbench-like control could be implemented in Helix. But does it make sense from a business perspective? Don't know. It would clearly add cost to the Helix product, while probably only a small percentage of Helix users would benefit. If it were developed and priced as an optional Helix add-on it could make sense (perhaps a Helix Marketplace product?).
  4. You don't need to have a second date with her. You can break up anytime. Would you rather Line 6 not say anything about pending updates and just drop them with no notice whatsoever?
  5. Connect your iloud monitors to the Helix outputs. When Helix is connected via usb it becomes your computer's soundcard. This should happen automatically but you may need to configure your computer outputs, as well as inputs, to use Helix.
  6. Problem is that the circuit board itself is often damaged when the jack is damaged. You may not be able to fix it without replacing the board, and you likely have to get the board from Line 6.
  7. Also, you're talking about the transition from traditional analog equipment to digital modeling. Yes - that transition takes time and effort no matter what digital modeller you try first. Actually Helix has about the best and most intuitive user interface among its competitors. You would be making a much longer rant if you had started with one of them. Switching from using the old old analog black telephone wired to the wall to using an iPhone required a manual too. Who had ever heard of a phone that could take pictures? How do I do that, and where are my pictures? Who has ever heard of a guitar amp that's not actually an amp at all, but dozens of amps, along with a hundred pedals and the ability to switch out mics and cabs and adjust the bias? What the hell is bias anyways? P.S. I'm not saying your rant is without reason. It's certainly true that moving from analog to digital guitar gear requires a significant learning curve and is not an instant hit. I'm just suggesting that it's not Helix itself that's the cause of your frustration; any other modeler would probably leave you feeling worse. Line 6 has actually made great improvements in the Helix user interface compared to its predecessors even as recently as POD HD.
  8. 'Loud enough' is not good enough. You need to be singing/speaking at the highest intensity that you will be singing/speaking at any time during the performance.
  9. You have to use auto-trim only when the input is being used at its loudest input level for the performance. Don't use it when playing or singing softly; otherwise you will experience exactly what you describe when the input levels increase.
  10. In Global Settings -> MIDI/Tempo, Knob 5 Tempo Select the manual says: The “Speed” or “Time” parameters of all tempo-based FX can be set to a note value that follows Tap Tempo or the tempo set with Knob 6 (Snapshot BPM/Preset BPM/Global BPM). Choose whether the Helix tempo is stored and recalled with each snapshot, recalled with each preset, or is applied globally across all presets and snapshots. Also, selecting any time-based FX block in a preset shows you note/bpm value. If it shows Note value press the knob once quickly to change the display to bpm value.
  11. I expect the double-clicking behaviour is because you have the HX Edit program defined as the default program for using files of type *.hlx. You could change that if you wish.
  12. Can you not just drag/drop a downloaded Customtone file for Helix into any Helix Native preset slot? I think Helix Native also has an Import function but drag/drop seems simpler. Also, and I'm not at all sure about this, you may need to disconnect your HX FX while doing this. It's possible that HN is detecting the attached HXFX and limiting presets to only HXFX-compatible ones. I suppose it's possible that HN does this though I doubt it.
  13. I think it's always a good idea to read manuals. There's a lot of good info in there and I find one can usually answer their own questions quickly, especially as a novice, without having to post a question here and wait for someone else to respond. On the other hand manuals generally just talk about what the product does - not what it doesn't do. I doubt that you'd discover directly in the manual that the HD500 does not handle IRs; you'd have to deduce that from the fact that IRs are never mentioned.
  14. Yes. Go to the Downloads area of this websit (see link at top of this page). On the following page enter Pod Farm or Pod Farm 2.5 in the middle (software) field, depending on on which product you want to use/buy. You will then be presented with a page allowing you to select a DOWNLOAD button for the product. Of course you will need to have or purchase a license to use the product.
  15. Don't be discouraged. Keep asking questions, and welcome to the forum.

    Main Guitar

Some years ago I bought the Warmoth body/neck pre-built and routed to house the Variax 300 electronics. I installed Graphtec piezos, Earvana nut, and standard tuners. It remains one of the smoothest playing and most comfortable guitars I've ever owned. I still use it a lot even thought I now have a JTV-59. A great value for a very nice guitar imho.

    Preset order

There's no specific order but I find that there are some unspecified groupings. You will see a number of consecutive presets that are based on and named after specific amp models, other groups of consecutive presets are based on specific songs, while others highlight different FX for ethereal or unusual sounds. If you choose to rearrange them you might want to make a backup of the setlists first in case you want to return to the factory ordering at some point.

    Helix to PA

Yes - I prefer to do it in Helix. The sound guy at the venue will make room-specific adjustments if necessary. Like Lungho said tell the sound guy to start with a flat EQ on your channel and let him adjust for the room/mix.
  20. Assuming that you have, indeed, connected the cables in the correct way as you say.... do you have the FX Loop activated (turned ON) in the preset?
  21. ... and also try using the Hi Cut parameter in the cab settings. Lower the setting and see if it helps.
  22. Are you using a stock Cab or an IR? If a Cab, try increasing the Bias level.
  23. No special settings. I use the M20d factory preset for POD HD500 which is basically a flat setting, presuming that the external device (Helix in this case) is providing all the tone shaping. Set the L3 speakers to PA/Reference mode.
