  1. You will be fine after installing v2.20 according to the instructions. Nothing that might currently be messed up will carry forward after a proper v2.20 installation.
  2. To download the editor go to the Downloads section of this website, under the Support tab above. Select Helix in the Software (not Products) field. On the next page displayed, hit the Get Download button at the bottom right of the instructions pane. This Downloads the installer file which you must then execute to install the editor. You should also install the driver and the Line 6 Updater program.
  3. If it's working now I would leave things alone until the v2.20 update later this month. If it continues then you can work on a fix.
  4. For your purposes you can't use L6 Link to connect your POD to a speaker. You need to connect the POD analog outputs to the speaker analog inputs, preferably the rear panel stereo Line Ins because you want to use a mic in the side panel mixer input. You need to connect both speakers to each other using 2-way L6 Link. In other words, each speaker's L6 LINK In has to be connected to the other's L6 LINK Out. Otherwise you won't be able to hear all inputs from each speaker in both speakers. Imagine you have your POD connected via L6 Link to one of your speaker's L6 Link In connections, and you have the L6 LINK Out from that speaker to the second speaker's L6 LINK In. Now you also have other instruments connected using the second speaker's side panel mixer. How is that sound going to be transmitted to the first speaker? Can't use L6 LINK because the POD is already using that connection on the first speaker. The best way all sound from both speakers can be heard through both speakers is to connect the speakers to each other using 2-way L6 LINK, which means your POD can't use it. It has to use the analog outputs and inputs.
  5. Yes that is right. Just make sure you connect the two L2t speakers to each other using L6 Link in both directions. Connect your POD to either of the speakers using the rear panel Line In connections.
  6. Like I said - I don't know anything about future updates. Neither does anyone else who is free to talk about it. If someone says they do know they are either just speculating or they are breaking their NDA. Questions like this are futile. Line 6 announces updates when they are ready to. Anything else is pure speculation.
  7. What version of POD Farm did you install? Your old Toneport is licensed for the original Pod Farm version 1, not the current version 2.
  8. Do the basic models in your POD HD sound better than your POD XT to you? If so you should find that the HD model packs also sound better.
  9. I don't understand what you're saying here. Helix Rack has no built-in pedal controllers. Neither does the Helix Control device but it supports 3 external pedals. A total of 3 expression pedals is the limit, using either Helix or Helix Rack plus Control.
  10. After installing Pod Farm you need to run the Line 6 License Manager program.
  11. How do you delete the colour of a wall? It always has some specific colour. You can repaint it to make it 'neutral' (whatever that means to you). Similarly, you can overwrite a preset to make it 'empty' (whatever that means to you).
  12. I think what you're seeing about lefties is the same as what we often hear about product issues. This is a user support forum so people who come here can get the impressoin that Line 6 products have a lot of problems. Similarly, when a thread begins to focus on lefties we hear from a lot of them. Doesn't mean their numbers have suddenly increased - just that they are motivated to contribute.
  13. A preset is recalled in the same state in which it was last saved. So if you want a specific snapshot active when you recall the preset, SAVE it with that snapshot active.
  14. I think you could also use a VOL FX in each path. Assign the Level in both to the snapshot controller and set to 100 or 0 (or anything else) in each snapshot as desired.
  15. This feature will allow Helix to be used as a Workbench HD interface device. It will not affect Workbench HD itself, which remains incompatible with older Variax models.
  16. I recently met a 20-something year aspiring musician who was describing how thrilled he is to have found some old analog 4-track cassette recording system (Tascam or Fostex - can't remember which. Anybody remember those?). He was marvelling at the saturated sounds he is able to get but lamenting that his supply of cassettes is limited. Apparently it's not that easy to find the old double-sided stereo cassettes in Bias-II format. I looked in my old storage cabinets and found an unopened pack of 8 cassettes and gave them to him. He's thrilled!
  17. I would power down and restart. If that doesn't work you may need to reinstall the firmware. Of course, you need the M20d to power up properly before you can reinstall the firmware. Open a support ticket for help with that. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/live-sound/stagescape-m20d-mixer/stagescape-m20d-firmware-120-update-information-r555
  18. I can appreciate where you're coming from. But I know exactly what I'm missing by no longer running. I'm missing great pain and inflammation in my arthritic knees and ankles, reduced mobility, increased limping, a substantial diet of prescription pain medication, and an earlier-than-necessary knee replacement. Good luck with your goal. I'm under 70 and I can still golf but walking the course is increasingly difficult. A cart is now my friend. Running is out of the question.
  19. Unfortunately we're not very helpful when it comes to inside information about future product developments. In most cases we really don't have any information. Sometimes we do, but we have also signed non-disclosure agreements that prevent us from talking about the info publicly. So whether we do or don't know anything the answer here is the same - we don't know anything.
  20. You also need to download and install the driver. Start with Line 6 Monkey and use it to help you locate and install all available software components.
  21. This has happened to me also and It seems to be related to the connections of my external expression pedals. If you are using any, check their connections and try unplugging then reconnecting them. It won't restore a frozen Helix without cycling the power but it may prevent future crashes.
  22. You need to download and install the Line 6 Edit program. You will find it in the Downloads area of this website (under the Support tab above).
  23. No need to feel trollish. I understand the frustration. I was just trying to counter the claim that it would be a simple thing to do. I do tend to believe the 'market realities' argument. I'm a 6'3 left-handed golfer. It's frustrating for me to not have the wide club selection that my right-handed buddies have, and forget about driving to the course in an affordable subcompact car. I can't even fold myself into those things.
  24. Glad it got sorted out rather simply for you.
  25. That depends entirely on how the code/data separation is implemented in the design and architecture of the product. Neither I nor you have any idea of how this is handled in the original Variax products. What is code at the time of original devleopment (e.g. a guitar's standard tuning) might be data at some future unanticipated time (e.g. alternate tunings). Ideally, the design is flexible enough to anticipate that certain elements of today's code might be tomorrow's data. But that doesn't always (often?) happen. Let's remember that the original Variax firmware architecture is more than 10 years old. It's probably not simple to turn code into data. Remember the Y2K fears? You may not. But it took a herculean effort throughout the software industry to prevent serious global security and other important issues resulting from the fact that software developers in the early years had treated the first two digits of a year (e.g. 1960) as code, and allowed only the last two digits as data. The year 2000 loomed large and a lot of effort was expended making sure planes didn't fall out of the sky, elevators drop to the floor, and nuclear reactors go into meltdown.
