  1. I read the description in the link provided and I notice an ambiguity. There are three mentions of the woofer size. Two specify 5" and one says 8". In my experience 5" is too small for a PA speaker /studio monitor used with a guitar processor. I would get this clarified before purchasing. But in general, any PA speaker of this sort with at least 6" woofer (preferably 8") will be good.
  2. Yes. Here's what the Helix manual says: Helix responds to traditional MIDI Bank and Program change messages from an external MIDI controller device (or from MIDI software via USB) and will recall the Setlist and/or preset accordingly.
  3. You will find Line 6 Updater in the software downloads section of this website (under the Support tab at the top of this page). Choose Line 6 Updater in the software field of the search area. You will also find Helix editor/librarian to download.
  4. Yes - your tone will change very noticeably if you use the same preset with the two different guitars. You should create presets specific to the guitar you are using with the preset. How you choose to organize them is up to you. Your suggestion sounds good to me.
  5. One question / topic per thread is best.
  6. You use Workbench with the JTV to set the pots.
  7. No. Variax does not run FX models. Just different guitar models.
  8. I would set the amp fx loop output level to instrument/stomp level and connect it to the POD Guitar input rather than its FX Return input. That way you won't have to use the POD FX Loop at all in the signal chain, and you won't have to use a dummy plug in the POD FX Send jack to activate it.
  9. I see. What you describe is the expected behaviour. If you want to switch the board's focus .... you have to use the board footswitches. Can't do it with the app. The app only seems to communicate with the audition/edit buffer on the board except when saving presets. When doing that the app can target a specific preset location on the board. After the Save operation I frankly don't know what the board's active location is - the original location or the target location.
  10. I think the main reason would be security and safety of the device. In the rack there is less risk of damage to the main CPU, components, and connecting cables (liquid spills, misplaced steps, feet tangled in cables, ....). In both cases there is a floorboard but the Helix Control is lees costly to replace if damaged. Also, for studio vs. gigging, you set up Helix Rack with all its connections just once and then leave it in place, with a smaller floorboard using less floor footprint.
  11. In the main menu of the app select the Firehawk device in the left-hand column of the display. You will be presented with the set of installed presets. Select the one you want.
  12. The Send/Return channels can be configured to handle instrument level input, which is good for a normal guitar. You should be able to (and will need to) balance the relative levels of the three instruments within the Helix paths so that they reach the mixing board's single stereo channel without needing further levelling.
  13. Which volume control are you using? The amp channel volume is saved with the preset, so if you are using that control it should be saved. However, the device master volume is not saved with presets; it's meant to be used once at the beginning of the session to set the overall device volume appropriately for the room/venue.
  14. I really think you'll have to test it yourself. It could depend on which amp/cabs you use, and even which model of FX. If one of your guitars is a Variax that can be connected via VDI, and if another guitar has active pickups then the physical inputs setup is no problem. Otherwise, if you have three standard pickup non-Variax guitars two of your physical inputs will not be well matched unless you use the Return inputs. The Aux input is meant for active pickups, and the Mic input is meant for - well, a mic. You may need to use a dummy plug in the Send part of the Send/Return pair.
  15. Make sure your DAW (e.g. Reaper) is configured to use the HD500X and its ASIO driver as the audio input/output device.
  16. Well, there you go.... like I said, just guessing. And no, Line 6 does not make a DAW. So probably only need to run License Manager when ...ermm.. managing licenses.
  17. When recording over USB make sure the Output Mode on your HD500X is set to Studio/Direct. You should also include a cab/mic combination in the preset, something you don't always do if you usually output to an amp.
  18. For standalone operation of the HD500 there's no need. It will continue to see the model packs as before. However, anything that requires the computer might no longer operate properly (Edit, DAW, Monkey for firmware update/reinstall, ...). But I'm just guessing here.......
  19. I do the same thing as Brazzy - install Line 6 Monkey first then drivers and Edit using Line 6 Monkey. Lastly, License Manager to authorize new computer and remove old one. I suspect you won't need to do anything specific about the model packs. If you were using them with the old computer they are already authorized to your account and are activated in your device. Switching computers shouldn't affect that, but you need to authorize your new computer anyway.
  20. Are you using iOS or Android? In either case, once you have found the tone you want in the cloud, activate it in Firehawk. Then use the Save to Hardware feature in the app to store it in any one of the Firehawk preset locations. This will overwrite whatever tone is currently in that location, so save the current tone to My Tones first if you want to use it again later.
  21. What DAW are you using? All DAWs have some way to specify your audio device. It's usually in something called Audio Setup or Preferences.
  22. By default Audacity uses a non-compliant ASIO driver called ASIO4ALL. I strongly recommend that you avoid using ASIO4ALL There have been many reports about performance problems when using it.with Line 6 audio devices. Use the Line 6 driver for your UX2. Line 6 Monkey will help you download and install it. Configure your DAW to use the UX2 and its ASIO driver as the audio input/output device. Having done that you may no longer require the 18db boost and it might be easier to get a better vocal tone in Pod Farm.
  23. I think he means to configure your DAW to use Helix as the audio input/output device. That should happen automatically when Helix is connectd via USB to your computer, but you may have to go to the Audio Setup section of your DAW and specify that Helix and its ASIO driver be used. When things are set up like this the DAW will playback existing (previously recorded) tracks through Helix, so you will be able to hear the backup track(s) while playing your guitar. This uses USB Inputs 1/2 to Helix from the DAW. However, the title of your thread mentions reamping. Yet (unless I misunderstand) nothing you've described includes reamping, which means routing a previously recorded track inthe DAW to a Helix input for processing. Is that what you are trying to do? If so, you can send any track(s) from your DAW into USB 3/4 or 5/6 as Helix inputs to any path for reamping.
  24. I agree - it's probably a hardware issue with the switch. I suggest you open a support ticket.
