  1. Would you pay approx. $1,000 for it? Line 6 recently asked the community about this, explaining a bit about what would be required to provide full VDI capability (excluding power) and indicating this approx. cost/price. There weren't too many takers.
  2. I believe the option you're looking for appears as part of the 'Save As' operation in PF2. At that point there is an option to save the file in a PF1-compatible format.
  3. I would recommend getting the repair done properly at an authorized Line 6 service center. Chances are it's not just the port that needs to be replaced - an inner circuit board likely also needs to be replaced. Until your USB connection is working properly again there is no way that I know of to backup your presets, use the editor, or update/reinstall the firmware.
  4. I don't know anything about the Voice Live 3 Extreme, but I do know that Helix certainly can do both acoustic and heavy electric easily, even within the same preset if you want.

    Snapshots

There is no noticeable lag time/dropout when switching snapshots within a preset. There is a short but noticeable lag when switching presets, which is audible when switching mid-song in some circumstances.
  6. The Somic port itself is just a hardware audio interface. The 'music button' you mention must be in whatever software package you are using with Sonic Port. I presume it is Mobile Pod. I think it uses the Music Library on your mobile device just like the Amplifi app does. Can you not use it the same way as you are using Amplifi? What differences are you seeing? EDIT: OK, I've just tested this on my Mobile Pod app. It does use the songs in your Music library on the mobile device. Once you add a playlist in Mobile Pod you can add any Song in your Music library to the playlist.
  7. There is a Contact Us link at the bottom of this page. You can also open a support ticket via the Support tab at the top of this page. Please describe how you are connecting and updating the device. You certainly should not need to perform the updates every time you use it.
  8. I heard that something called Helix would be the next generation....?
  9. Yep. That's the physical chain. You may need to configure your DAW accordingly.
  10. Would this be a good time to point out that science and religion are equal when it comes to attempting to explain the currently inexplicable? Since the Renaissance scientists have been very effective at developing theories that help us understand physical reality and the 'laws' of nature. The current state of science in trying to understand physical reality comes to a frustrating halt at quantum physics and the nature of matter, energy, and quantum particles at measurements smaller than the Planck values for matter/energy, distance, and time. At that level things are random and chaotic and gravity continues to resist integration with the quantum world. But of course we don't want to accept that 'God rolls dice' or that our human understanding is inherently limited. The most popular current quantum theories for explaining these things involves a cat that is simultaneously dead and alive, with explanations involving strings, M-branes, and multiple parallel universes. By definition, none of these things are observable or testable even in theory. It's not just that we don't have the tools yet. They are theoretically speculative and not subject to proof or disproof - just like other speculative explanations involving God, Allah, Jehovah, Buddha and whatever deity we invoke. Science involves theories that can at least theoretically be disproven by experiment*. Evolution is a scientific theory that has never been disproven - only supported - for several hundred years. Gravity is a highly successful theory but less robust than evolution, with Newton's theories having been modified by Einstein's relativity and the warping of spacetime. But they remain scientific theories because we can, and do, both create experiments to collect relevant data and use the theory to the benefit of humankind (evolution and medicine as well as food, for instance). The softer meaning of 'theory' boils down to speculation and untestable belief. Examples include creationism. life after death, and the glory of martyrdom as well as string theory, M-branes, and multiple universes. ... and Oh, yeah - Yamaha sucks just like all big corporations. And Putin because .... well just because. And ISIS too, unless of course you support ISIS. * Of course no theory can ever be completely proven - we can just continue to collect evidence that supports rather than disproves a theory. There always remains the possibility that the next experiment will disprove it.
  11. Yes. You can use a USB connection for firmware updates and for recording, using Firehawk as the audio interface. Are you talking about doing something else with Firehawk connected to a computer? Id so, what? And what is an A, B type connector and what is the purpose of using it with Firehawk?
  12. Should be able to, yes. That's what I do. Bass guitar too.
  13. Time to open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 on this. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html
  14. The GX does not provide phantom power. If your mic is a condenser mic you will need another source to provide the necessary phantom power.
  15. There is no PC or Mac editor for the Firehawk or Amplifi products.
  16. No you can't load Helix tones into Amplifi directly. You can try to recreate them manually as far as the Amplifi routing options permit but even then the underlying modeling is completely different. Basically you can't get a Helix quality tone out of an Amplifi product unless it is a relatively poor Helix tone to begin with. There's a good reason for the price difference!
  17. I connect my Firehawk FX to my iPAD regularly via Bluetooth. The Firehawk uses a computer and USB connection only for firmware updates - the editor is an app that runs on iOS or Android using Bluetooth. Are you having a problem updating the firmware using your computer? If so, describe what you are doing and where the procedure fails.
  18. 1 - Yes 2 - Yes, but the default values are the way you describe them. 3 - No The differences reflect the real life situation. Some amps are louder than others. You need to manually balance the output levels among presets using the controls, especially Channel volume.
  19. On the downloads page select Helix in the Software (not Product) field.
  20. The HD ProX has about 20% more DSP capacity than the Pro. That's about it. Hardware and software-wise they are the same except for the higher capacity processor. If you plan to use mostly single-amp presets the HD Pro should be adequate. If you like dual-amp setups you will benefit from the ProX.
  21. Have you considered the Firehawk 1500 instead of the Firehawk FX? Both have all the benefits you mentioned but the 1500 also includes the power amp and cab so you won't need a separate monitor such as a DT amp or an FRFR speaker.
  22. And it's not just the music retailers, of course. Entire downtown business sectors have been and continue to be decimated by the arrival of the suburban box store malls with their Wal-Marts, Costcos, Lowe's, etc. Small retailers in any sector have difficulty staying in business. We, as consumers, could change this trend anytime we want with our shopping habits but we continue to choose lower prices, huge product selection in warehouses, reduced levels of customer service and product knowledge among sales staff, and one-stop convenience.
  23. Yes. Connect it to your Scarlett using the 1/4" analog outputs and inputs. You will then be able to record using the Scarlett as your audio interface.
  24. To what is your mixer connected, and how? If you want to hear the Helix output in your mixer you will need to connect the Helix analog outputs (XLR or 1/4") to your mixer's analog inputs.
  25. The VDI/USB connection to a computer only works with Line 6 software products like Workbench and Monkey. It uses a proprietary protocol that other manufacturer's products cannot make use of. You can, however, use the JTV analog output (1/4") and the battery to use the JTV just like any other guitar with the products you mention.
