  1. There's another reason to back up setlists (not bundle) before an update. Sometimes a firmware update includes new or modified factory presets (as happened recently with v2.0). In order to install the new presets you need to overwrite all existing presets. Without a backup of your existing custom presets/setlists you can't reinstall them.
  2. The release notes that appear on the download page include detailed installation instructions. Follow them closely.
  3. Have you installed the latest firmware update?
  4. I expect you've voided your warranty anyway. I changed my JTV-59 nut to an Earvana nut and it's worked very well. I had the work done by an experienced guitar tech so he took care of the measurements, ordering, and any adjustments on the guitar itself, including post-installation setup. That seemed better to me than trying to install it myself. Based on your recent track record of DIY nut adjustments you might want to consider doing the same.
  5. Yes - use Live Edit mode on the Firehawk FX device as described in the manual. No app required.
  6. Fortunately that's not true. You can use the Live Edit mode on the device itself - no app - to change settings. This is described in the manual much more clearly than I could do here.
  7. If it's the word 'lollipop' you're referring to, that's done by the Line 6 website itself. It automatically replaces every profanity with the word lollipop. Here's a demonstration based on an old skit by the late great George Carlin: "There are seven words you can't say on television - lollipop, lollipop, lollipop, lollipop, lollipop, lollipop, and lollipop." As for this thread, I think we should just ignore it. The OP has already said goodbye and surely no one else is interested in this blather.
  8. You need a program called HD500X Edit. You can find it in the Downloads section of this website. Or you can run Line 6 Monkey with your HD500X connected to your computer via USB. The Monkey will help you download and install it. Monkey will also let you know if you need to update your drivers.
  9. I tested it with an old Variax 300. It partially worked. Helix was able to control model selection on the Variax and store/recall the models properly in the Helix presets. However, all editing actions had to be done on the Helix. Any changes made on the guitar were not properly communicated back to Helix. Since this is an unsupported behaviour there is no guarantee that this will work on other older Variax guitars.
  10. Helix supports the JTV and Standard Variax models. It does not support older models - the Variax 300/500/600/700. These older models do not support alternate tunings without Workbench.
  11. Yes, it could be. Make sure the specs on your power supply exactly match the specs of the official Line 6 unit. Using the wrong power supply can not only affect the performance, it can cause damage to your POD. The correct specs are: DC-3g: (POD HD 300/400/500/500X and HD Bean): 9V DC, 3A (3000mA) Plug length: 15mm, Diameter: 5mm, Center Pin: 2mm.
  12. What recording program are you using? Is it configured to use Sonic Port as the audio device? Are you recording the 'dry' vocal signal, or are you processing it with something like Pod Farm, or VSTs in your DAW?
  13. Hit the Support tab at the top of this page. Select Technical Support. Browse the Knowledge Base, FAQs, and Videos sections filtered by the HD500X product.
  14. To readers who may have seen an earlier version of this post: I have edited it to hopefully remove the 'scolding' tone of the earlier post for which I apologize......and to make it more generally applicable than directed solely to the poster. I think the two quoted statements above are related. Perhaps it's time to read the manual. The basic concept of snapshots and their usage is explained more clearly and thoroughly in the manual than anyone else could do here. The rest of this post is aimed at users in general, not you specifically. When broad general questions like this are asked here I wonder why users don't simply read the manual. By asking the question here you know you're going to have to read the explanation anyway, whether here or in the manual. Why not read the manual, where you know it is accurate and has been written clearly by a technical writer? As an added benefit, in the time it takes to post the question and await a response the poster could have read the manual and had the answer already. And even better - the manual also explains and answers the followup questions that you are sure to have after reading a less clear, perhaps inaccurate, and certainly only partial response that you are likely to get here. As to this question specifically, I think the critical piece you may be missing is the concept of a Snapshot being essentially a new type of controller. The mechanics of how to use the Snapshot controllers is all clearly documented.
  15. Sorry - no. The Bass Expansion Pack is compatible with the models that are listed on the product info page. This does not include the POD HD series or Helix. It is unlikely that this pack will be available on the Pod HD or Helix in the future. Even if it were likely, it will never be certain which is what you seem to want. No future expectation is ever certain. Having said that, both the POD HD series and Helix include some bass amps. The quality of the modeling is much superior than in the Bass Expansion pack. If you want quality over quantity, you should continue to consider either the POD HD 500X/ProX or Helix.
  16. Have you tried using the built-in Windows features for adjusting display and font sizes? These may resolve your issue outside the scope of Line 6.
  17. Try 'forgetting' the device in your Bluetooth settings, then re-pairing.
  18. After you hit the Upload button you are presented with a screen that asks you to choose the file to upload. Hit the button named 'Browse' or 'Choose File' depending on your device.
  19. Go to the main Customtone page by clicking on the tab at the top of this page. In the upper right area you will see a button named Upload. Click that, navigate to your tone file on your computer, and upload it.
  20. Sure it will. Just plug it into the JTV 1/4" analog jack like any other guitar.
  21. Right - now I see that your comment that I quoted previously was in the context of the parameter being set to Recall. Sorry if I confused things for some readers.
  22. Yes - factory strings are 10s.
  23. What you have described sounds normal to me. As long as you have a 1/4" cord in the jack the battery is being discharged, whether or not you have modelling engaged. Turning the Vol knob down to zero induces a sort of sleep mode, which helps prolong battery life while a cord is connected. The cord connection is effectively an ON/OFF switch for the battery. The Vol knob is a sort of standby mode. To preserve battery life between sessions unplug the cord.
