  1. I suggest you open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support. I think your device may need servicing.
  2. The FX never did carry over from one patch to another. If it seemed like they did it was only because of the lag in switching patches; the FX in the 'previous' patch continued to be heard until the switch to the new patch occurred.. With the lag gone (or at least greatly reduced), so are the apparent FX trails.
  3. Well, that is always a possibility for any electronic device - not just the Firehawk or Line 6 devices. There have been problem reports in these forums about devices crashing at different venues, where these problems have been traced to the local power supply. A power regulator/conditioner can't hurt. Perhaps users experiencing these intermittent crashes can look for opportunities to use their Firehawk in different places - even on different circuits within the house - and see if the problems transfer with the device or are only evident in one place.
  4. I have spent the past while trying my best to crash my Firehawk and produce the lights of death as reported here ans elsewhere. No success; can't crash it despite my best efforts. Of course, unless we can find a specific sequence of steps that will reliably create the problem it will be hard for Line 6 to fix whatever it is that's causing this. Here are the steps I took: - used Line 6 Updater on PC (not Bluetooth/remote app) to reinstall firmware v1.2. Installation was successful. Note that this did not replace the presets so there are still a handful of custom presets in banks 30-32 that I installed after my initial update to v1.2. However, all factory presets in banks 1-29 remain untouched, as initially installed. - performed a factory reset and pedal calibration - ensured that Bluetooth was not connected, and that the USB cable was disconnected. I then randomly bashed on the Bank Up/Down and the A-D footswitches as quickly as I could several times for more than 1 straight minute each time. I must have changed presets more than 200 times with an average of less than a quarter-second delay between switches (pausing to rest for a second or two periodically). I went randomly with no systematic approach, skipping to different banks in no specific order. I think I covered pretty much all banks at one time or another during this process, and even made sure I pressed adjacent A-D switches as simultaneously as possible (although the device knew which one was pressed last!). I also sometimes pressed both Bank switches simultaneously, engaging the Editor. Even within the Editor, rapid A-D switch presses were not troublesome. My conclusion: This issue is probably not firmware related. It could be hardware or even household power supply.
  5. Well, that's a starting point. I will try to reproduce the behaviour and report back.
  6. Are you still experiencing the 'lights of death' based only on v1.2 factory presets? If so can you provide a recipe to reproduce the symptom?
  7. Nope. Technically you purchased the hardware and the software was free. It's a license thing. Anyone can download the software at any time, with no restrictions. So Line 6 includes the licensing protection in the software itself. You need to have an authorized device connected to unlock the software, or you need to purchase a separate license that will permit you to unlock the software.
  8. There's no easy way. You have to manually tweak each preset to balance their relative volumes. Start with the lowest-volume presets. Increase their levels as much as possible. Then adjust the volume of the louder presets down to that level.
  9. Did you actually purchase a separate Pod Farm license, or was it bundled with the GX purchase? If the latter, you need to purchase a license for the hardware-independent version of Pod Farm 2.
  10. I believe you can loop using two different patches. You just need to make sure that both patches have the same FS assigned to the Looper, and that it is turned on in both. I don't have my Firehawk at hand to test this right now but I recall doing that some time ago. While the looper is playing back a loop recorded with one patch you can switch to the second patch and the loop will continue to play. You can then engage the overdub function and record with the new patch on top of the existing loop. ... at least that's what I recall..... if not accurate please correct me.
  11. As you point out, reducing channel volume will not affect tone. So that may be the best place to start. However, I would also try lowering the volume knob on the guitar. Seems like you may have a hot input to begin with and you might end up with a better range of clean/dirty settings to play with.
  12. It's a different machine. However there is a file converter utility that was graciously provided by one of the forum members some time ago: http://www.jzab.de/content/pod-hd The downloadable utility as well as the operating instructions are included in the link.
  13. I use the Variax (both a Variax 300 and a JTV-59) with the Firehawk. No problems. On the Variax edit page in the app, make sure you set the Model and Tuning to be controlled by the Firehawk device. Of course, you also need to be using the VDI connection.
  14. I suggest you open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support on this.
  15. I believe that error code indicates a problem with the USB communication between your POD and the computer. I would try reinstalling the firmware using different USB ports on your a computer until the installation completes with no error message.
  16. Check the Setup menus. On the first (or maybe second) menu page there is a setting called FS Mode. This setting determines how the bottom row of footswitches behaves. These can either switch to another preset (what you are calling 'settings', I think) in the same bank of presets, or turn on/off FX within the same preset. For the former set FS Mode to ABCD. For the latter, set to FS5-8.
  17. Don't be afraid to increase the Master volume. Actually, the higher the Master volume, the better the signal-to-noise ratio of the output.
  18. Take a close look at the VDI input jack on your POD. If there are any bent wires in the connector try straightening them out using some thin piece of wire that you fashion into a J-hook.
  19. Yes, to balance the output volumes of multiple amp situations your best approach is to lower the amp/channel volume of the louder amps rather than overdive the softer amps. To compensate, increase the POD HD (not amp) master volume. Keep the POD HD Mixer levels of the louder amps at 0db. If an additional boost on the softer amps is necessary increase the POD HD Mixer level.
  20. He's using the 4-cable method which means the external amp is involved in the full sound. The signal leaving the Helix via USB does not include the final piece of the desired sound- the Egnator power amp and cab. Hence the need to mic the Egnator cab and use an external interface.
  21. Try reversing your PocketPod output connections. The Direct Out should go to your usb/computer and the Amp Out to your peavey amp. This really doesn't address your main concern though, which is having the recording (Direct Out) sound the same as your monitor/amp (Amp Out). They won't sound the same because the output mode is different, and it's designed to produce a different sound. If your audio interface (guitar link?) has a headphones output you could use that to monitor both the recording and playback sounds. Your Peavey guitar amp is not designed to be a monitor; it colours the sound a great deal. You should leave it out of the recording setup. .... and yes, a pair of proper monitors would help but probably isn't necessary
  22. You may have to 'forget' the Bluetooth device on your mobile and re-establish the connection.
  23. It should work if you use the headphones jack.
