  1. Make sure Audacity is configured to use the Hd500 and its ASIO driver as the audio input and output device. Avoid using Audacity's default ASIO4ALL driver.
  2. Yes, the 4CM method will work with Firehawk FX just like it does with the Hd500.
  3. You can use them both together. Just make sure the L2 speaker is at the end of the L6 Link signal chain, after the DT amp.
  4. ..... and you need the Line 6 M20d mixer to perform the update. I wouldn't worry about it. I think the (now very old) update only affected the speaker integration with other L6 components using the L6 Link connections. An L2t on its own will be fine anyway.
  5. I think that's true! Hold onto that one as long as it works.
  6. You can use the Looper in PRE position. Record a brief sample and then start playback. While the loop is playing put down your guitar and edit the mic selection. Cycle through the options and listen. Choose the mic you like best.
  7. Here's a snip from the manual: The Helix device's Global EQ has three fully parametric bands plus variable low and high cut lters, and is used for compensating for the wide disparity in acoustic envi- ronments on tour or when traveling from studio to studio. Global EQ is applied to all setlists and presets, and can be heard from the 1/4" outputs, XLR outputs, or both.
  8. I think they have that at Fractal...... (Sorry for the hopefully humorous interlude. Not wanting to detract from the OP's legitimate question, but potty jokes can make you feel 12 yrs old again.)
  9. That's correct. Use your audio interface (in this case the HD300) to monitor your recordings. Your computer's audio card is not used by Cubase, either for recording or playback.
  10. Pre-JTV Variax guitars are strictly computers with a man-machine interface designed for guitarists. They do not have standard analog guitar electronics. In today's technology world, 12 years is an amazingly long time for a computer to continue to work. And no computer manufacturer continues to support twelve year old products in terms of interoperability with their newer technologies. Try loading Windows 10 on your PC that was brand new in 2004, or using its built-in 300 baud dial-up modem to surf today's web. Pre-JTV Variax guitars continue to be supported in terms of repairs, but beginning with the HD500X (VDI - Workbench interface), and now Helix, they are no longer supported. I think it's more than reasonable timing for an inevitable decision.
  11. You don't upload images of settings. You upload the tone file itself - the file you save to your computer when you backup your tone files using the editor program.
  12. I doubt it but of course that's just my opinion - not official. I base this on the fact that Workbench support was dropped as of the Hd500X; it no longer supports pre-JTV Variaxes with its VDI interface. It only supports JTV/Standard Variax models using Workbench HD. I would expect the same to continue with Helix. When Helix is updated to act as a VDI interface it will likely only support JTV/Standard Variax models using Workbench HD.
  13. Yes, there are many thoughts on this which are expressed periodically in threads just like this one. Everybody will have their own opinion - and that's exactly what they are. Opinions. The only statement that would matter would have to come from Line 6. And they have a very predictable behaviour: they announce firmware updates when and if they become available. They NEVER (for a number of valid reasons, some legal) will say: "Yes, a firmware update is coming in X months" , or "No further firmware updates will be issued for this product." (except when they announce a product's EOL). So - anyone who wants to provide their personal opinion (again) is, of course, free to do so. But don't base any decisions on any of them. EDIT: Note that this question appears regularly with the latest products too. It you really want to NOT know what's coming next for Helix (if anything), look here: http://line6.com/support/topic/22464-just-for-fun-what-do-you-think-is-coming-in-the-next-update/
  14. Click (don't double click) the empty block in the signal chain where you want to place the block. Once the empty rectangular block box is selected, click your mouse over the FX Block Category that you want to add. This list appears in the lower left area of the editor window. Then select the Processor Type from the pop up list, then the Model. Double-click the model name it to place it in the signal chain.
  15. If it's just one string, and intermittent, that may be a sign of a failing piezo pickup for that string. That would require servicing to replace the pickup(s). There may be another cause but I would keep an eye on this. If it gets worse and more frequent the piezo failure becomes a more likely cause.
  16. Make sure you are not applying any processing in Cubase (e.g. VST plug-in) while recording.
  17. The Looper icon will appear either at the front (PRE position) or at the end (POST position) in the Signal Flow view. If you Select the Looper using the left/right nav keys and hit the Enter button you will see the Looper display, where one of the buttons controls the PRE/POST positioning and displays the opposite of the current state.
  18. You need to place your Looper FX in POST mode. It sounds like it is currently in PRE position. Note that the button labels in the Looper display indicate what WILL happen when you press the button, not its current state. In other words, when the Looper display says 'POST' it is currently in PRE position.
  19. It sounds like your Bluetooth pairing is not being recognized. Try 'forgetting' the bluetooth pairing and then re-pair the devices. I know you say you don't want to do it, but the USB and PC method is much faster and more reliable.
  20. Peter is correct. Sometimes the firmware can get corrupted - don't ask me how. But a re-installation can fix some problems. After Helix firmware is installed the Rack device checks the Helix Control firmware and updates it if necessary.

    Loud Wahs

There's a parameter for the mix/level of the Wah. Try adjusting that.
  22. 1) Yes. 2) Yes. There is a Pitch Shifter that adjusts to =/- 1 octave. It performs best as a monophonic shifter so does well for a bass application. 3) There is a setting for that. 4) Yes, and Yes. Although you may have to set the looper to half-speed after every power-up. Don't know if that setting is retained. 5) It has a ground lift for the XLR outputs but it is not specifically a DI box. However, an acoustic guitar into the Guitar Input and directly out from the XLR to a mixer/PA works fine. 6) Yes. You are limited to a maximum of 8 FX that can be shared between the two distinct signal paths - vocals and guitar. Some of these FX can be used to control relative volume levels in the mix.
  23. The only software you will need (other than your DAW) is the driver for the Amplifi. If you've ever updated the firmware via USB rather than Bluetooth you already have the driver. If not, go to the Downloads section of this website to install it. When connected with the driver installed your DAW may automatically detect the Amplifi and configure itself to use it with its ASIO driver as the audio device. If this doesn't happen automatically you will have to manually configure your DAW to use the Amplifi.
