  1. Can you explain what you are trying to achieve? Are you recording? Playing live? Wanting to solo over a chord progression? Let us know what you are using the looper for and perhaps we can help more.
  2. Have you updated the usb firmware to v1.04?
  3. It's not the OP who was the recipient of some sarcasm.... It was the later complaint that the model packs should be free..... At least that's what prompted my sarcastic response....
  4. The license manager is complaining that you haven't installed the new usb driver. You should use Line 6 Monkey to perform the updates. It will help you install the necessary new usb driver (v1.04) as well as the new HD Edit program.
  5. You do not need a DI. Set the HD500 output mode to Studio. Use the 1/4" outputs from the Hd500 to the mixer. Use both L/R for stereo, or just the L for mono (the stereo signal will be summed to mono using the 1/4" L but not the XLR L). Set the 1/4" output switch to Line. Also, for best results make sure you use a Full (rather then Pre) amp model in your Hd50 preset, and select the desired mic/cab combination.
  6. You are not able to purchase a selection of individual amps. You are restricted to purchasing the bundle(s).
  7. .... but that's just a longer term plan for going out of business.......
  8. I find that hard to disagree with.... At any point in time, historically and into the future, Line 6 (and every other product-based company) is either: - working on a next gen product, as you say, or... - working on going out of business.
  9. Yes, that would be fine. Reverb.com is an online marketplace for the buying and selling of musical gear, not unlike eBay and such - just a more focused niche.
  10. The Variax setlist does not have presets for the new amps. It has presets that include Variax guitar settings with existing amps, mostly providing good tones for popular cover songs.
  11. Try this preset: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/217206/ While it is designed for the Hd500 as the audio interface over usb to your DAW, you should be able to use the L/R analog outputs to your other audio interface.
  12. If you have already installed Line 6 Monkey, run it with your Pod connected via usb. If you don't already have it, go to the Downloads section of this website (under the Support tab above) and download Line 6 Monkey. Then run it. It will help you obtain and install the updated HD500 Edit program. Some of the factory presets are designed for vocals, or for JTV guitars. In these cases the Input will not be set for the guitar input; hence you will not hear any sound from your guitar.
  13. 1) Yes. Experiment with and without the DI box; you may find you don't need it. 2) No. There are no amp models in any of the M-series stomp boxes.
  14. Did you also install the updated version of HD500 Edit?
  15. The L6 Link out is not an option for any non-Line 6 device. It uses a proprietary protocol. You will be able to use either of the analog outputs, balanced XLR or unbalanced 1/4" depending on the mixer input types.
  16. OK. I guess I misunderstood. Sorry for any misinterpretation. Still, it sounds like you think that the end result will be a difference in sound quality, and that further optimization could be applied to the X-series that would make them sound better then the non-X series. As Digital_Igloo has stated, the sound quality is and will be the same.
  17. I'm not sure what you mean. How is an EQ that is available for every patch (hence potentially different for every patch) global? To me, a global EQ (or any other global effect) applies in the same manner to all patches. Isn't that what 'global' means?
  18. Not entirely sure what you mean. Sounds like you think Line 6 could have made the existing HD Models better in the X-series devices but chose not to. Is that what you are implying? I don't think it's a question of quality of HD modeling. The X and non-X HD devices use the same modeling. I strongly doubt that the DSP optimization offered an opportunity for Line 6 to improve the overall modeling quality. What it did was provide an opportunity to fit another DSP-using feature (global EQ) into the existing capacity. There was no change in modeling, hence no chance that the non-X models have suddenly lost quality. Looking at DI's use of the phrase 'without breaking anyone's presets', it occurs to me that it might be more of a challenge to implement global EQ in the non-X series without affecting existing presets. Perhaps, then, some existing presets in non-X devices that were very close to the DSP limitation might now exceed it with global EQ turned on. That would surprise me, but I think it's a more realistic interpretation of his comments than the rather cynical interpretation you have offered. Do you really think Line 6 is constantly looking for ways to punish their customers, and that you've uncovered one?
  19. The Pod HD500/X and Pro/X have the required VDI connection for Variax. So does the recently announced Firehawk FX.
  20. Try wrapping a rubber band around the looper footswitch. That will prevent it from activating the looper if you mistakenly step on it.
  21. There are units in the POD HD range that appear to have no DSP limit. You will never see that message in the Pod HD300/400 because of the single amp and limited FX selection. EVERY multi processor device has its DSP limitations. Most manufacturers design the device with constraints like the above so that this limitation is never observed by the user. This means that there is almost always some unused but available DSP capacity in any preset. Line 6 is unique in giving control of DSP management to to the user. You can use all available DSP capacity up to the limit. Of course, more expensive devices will have higher limits. Anyone should purchase one if the HD500 has insufficient DSP capacity for their needs.
  22. It's a tough decision. The device architecture prohibits the global EQ for L6 LINK within DSP capacity. But it's just possible to squeeze it into the other outputs. So what to do? Withhold one of the most requested features from all users even though you could provide it to most, or go ahead and provide it to most?
  23. Did you download and install the new HD500X Edit program that provides support for the Model Packs?
