  1. From the Helix Rack manual (I expect it’s the same for other Helix devices): Snapshot Block Bypass On/Off There may be situations where you don’t want snapshots to control a particular block’s bypass state; that is, you’d prefer to turn it on and off manually. For example, you may want manual control of a Boost block at any time without worrying whether a particular snapshot might turn it on or off. 1. Within the Home screen, select a processing block within the signal flow and press ACTION. 2. Turn Knob 5 (Snapshot Bypass) to set the behavior for the block.
  2. It’s possible that the POD Go might be at least partly responsible. There was a hardware issue with early POD Go units that affected input impedance. It has since been resolved but you may have one of the affected units. Contact Line 6 support; they can confirm the status of your unit based on serial number. If affected they will advise you how to have it repaired under lifetime warranty for this issue. I don’t know whether this could affect the distortion issue you’re having but it’s worth checking out.

  4. Thanks for the correction. I misinterpreted the manual. Sorry for any confusion.
  5. Here’s a snip from the Helix Native manual from the Plug-in Automation section. I have highlighted the bold underlined text that I think indirectly answers your question. Helix Native supports your host DAW application’s features to read, write, and edit parameter automation, where the DAW can control the plugin’s parameter values over time using editable track envelopes. Helix Native takes this concept even further and not only allows for practically any block’s parameters to be automated but also allows auto- mating the loading of any of the current preset’s snapshots, which effectively provides simultaneous switching of numerous Helix Native parameters in one action! Note that the description includes parameter automation and includes switching snapshots. It omits any mention of preset changes which, by omission, is an indirect statement that automated preset changes are not supported.
  6. As mentioned earlier -18db should be fine. Try it. My dry signal waveform often looks almost flat but sounds fine when processed by Helix Native.
  7. I couldn’t make myself read your post, just based on the title. I expect it’s full of untruths and misinformation.

  9. If you are downloading from Customtone you need to use its filter to select tones for the desired Line 6 product/device. Select Spider 5 as the product and the search should list only device-compatible files.
  10. I don’t know why the levels are different, but there may be an effective workaround for gigs. Does your JBL monitor have a volume adjustment? If so can you use it to increase the volume of your stage monitor and achieve what you want even though it seems to sending a lower level signal. The Main Outs will still feed FOH where volume can also be adjusted independently.
  11. In Global Settings -> Ins/Outs set the Amp Out Source parameter to Main Outs (see manual). Other question: use a Mono, not stereo, FX block as the final block in your signal chain. That will ensure that both the L and R Main outputs send the same mono signal, meaning there’s no point in using any stereo FX.anywhere in your signal chain.
  12. Assuming your Vox has an FX Loop use the 4 Cable Method (4CM) as described in the POD Go manual - Setup section. That will allow you to position some FX a before your Vox preamp section and some FX after it. Include an FX Loop in your POD Go preset and bypass the amp and cab models.
  13. Are you using the latest versions of HX Edit (v3.70) and Helix firmware (v3.71)? When running the HX Edit update package did you also install all drivers?

  15. When a parameter is assigned to the Snapshots controller it appears with white brackets around it. Do those amp parameters have the brackets? If so, navigate between snapshots using the left, not right, mouse button. If not import the preset again and try the snapshots again.
  16. The Variax guitar has a separate piezo pickup for each string. That allows individual string processing for pitch and level. Communication between the Variax and Helix allows you to store alternate models and tunings for the Variax in a Helix preset. Combined with Helix Snapshots you can create presets that allow you to switch between guitar models and tunings. For instance you can switch between a Les Paul model in standard tuning to a Martin D28 acoustic model in Drop-D (or any other custom tuning) using a single footswitch.
  17. The Helix Native UI shows the name of the active snapshot in the top bar of the window, to the right of the preset name. Click (right click?) on the Snapshot name and a pop-up menu should appear displaying the list of the other snapshot names. Select the one you want.
  18. What are the POD Go’s ‘band features’ that are missing in the Stomp/XL? The Helix LT provides much, much more than 1 additional assignable slot. Firstly, it has 2 DSP processors so immediately you have double the processing power; hence approx double the price. Secondly, it has a theoretical limit of 32 assignable slots, although - like the POD Go - dynamic DSP management means you will likely encounter greyed out selections long before that. However, a Helix LT preset can easily hold a dozen or more assignable amp/cab/IR/FX blocks. It allows for much more powerful and sophisticated presets including two amp/cab models, multiple delays, distortions, reverbs, etc. And finally it provides more inputs and outputs as well as more routing options. Perhaps you wouldn’t use any LT features other than 1 additional assignable block. But it’s simply not true to say that’s all it offers over the POD Go. It doesn’t meant the LT isn’t worth it. Just not worth it to you, and that’s perfectly fine.
  19. No. The Mode and Tap switches cannot be assigned in the Command Center, nor can these functions be reassigned to other footswitches. The 6 Stomp Mode footswitches and the expression pedals can be assigned to MIDI commands.
  20. Line 6 does not produce audio recording programs. If you are already familiar with audio recording programs use your favourite with the POD Express Bass as your audio interface device (see details on the manual). If you are not already familiar with recording programs do some research and find a free one to start with. GarageBand on Mac or Cakewalk by Bandlab on Windows are popular free entry level programs.
