  1. Quick question for anyone familiar with the model knobs on a Variax 500. I took on a project V500 and it is all repaired to functionality and sounds awesome. However one nagging detail is flipping my OCD - the Model Knob and the spring detent ring. The spring ring has the two tabs that come up and allow for contact with the inside of the knob so you can feel a wee bump on each model selection (and have it stop). Well the original spring ring had its tabs bent inwards so no contact was being made and I bent them outwards which yes they make contact. The rub is the tabs make contact with the protruding piece (small block) on the inside of the model knob which as you may guess stops everything. It was late at night and it was like working on a Chinese puzzle box. :) Being at work and unable to get my hands on it to finish the job I have been thinking of the "why": The model knob is the same as the replacement V500 one on Fullcompass and the model indicator ring and spring ring are placed with the locating tabs in the pot's shaft slot. Is this a matter of not having the model knob not being pushed fully down? (IE: take off the cavity cover and see if the pot's shaft can be forced up a few more threads). Wrong knob? Any pointers would be appreciated. :) -Bill Check out the attached for a clarifying pic.
  2. Still - check for bent pins in the Flexy's fbv jack if you know the cable is good.
  3. When you bought the model packs they were assigned to your user account. So as long as you still have that account they will be linked to it and you will be able to authorized your XTL via the License Manager for the activation. The packs can be used on 3-4 devices IIRC.
  4. I know - there are patch building descriptions which have it listed "as on" but in reality I too would assume it does nothing. But IIRC someone once mentioned it as a bit of a boost - no SIII here so I can't tell you.
  5. FWIW I thought it acted like a boost on the IIIs. As you know there is no FX Loop but there are patches that have it in the description for how they were set up. Try it and see.
  6. Global Eq, Model Packs etc..... yes I have seen items from Ideascale implemented. If you are saying would we like more? Then the answer would be "yes" as well. What do I think? I think the HD is probably near its end and that's it. People will probably come and lollipop and moan like when the XT went, then when the X3 went... the cycle of life in which history repeats itself.
  7. http://www.fileconvoy.com/dfl.php?id=gbab09608432a1d119999304403c19652406d88141 Should be good for 5 days - Win7 version.
  8. Thanks for the thread! I recently picked up a V500 and was wondering what was the replacement jack and you filled me in. Thanks!
  9. Well the TM60 is a modeler itself and you really can never turn off its cab modeling even when going straight into the fx loop. That said you can try a few things. If you are not using the TM60s preamps you can go straight into the FX loop (though IIRC you might have to put a dummy jack in the input). See if that brings the HD's models to life. You can also go into HD Edit and try changing the position of the FX loop and have the modeled amps come in after the signal goes through the TM60's pre amp. Its a great sounding amp.
  10. My burnt orange Ibby 570 scoffs in your general direction. :)
  11. Just checked and it started the DL as usual. Using IE btw.

  13. That is true in your case. PF2 is authorized when the X3 is used as the dongle.
  14. You have to purchase either Pod Farm 2 or a device that has a Pod Farm 2 license. If you have done that register the gear if not done so then run the L6 License Manager for authorization. That should do it.
  15. Well I would default to what the L6 boyz say. But keep in mind there is a Red and a Chrome 4 button one. They are different.
  16. I don't have a Mac but you can try Line 6 Edit if Gearbox won't work. Two shots at it there. :)
  17. For the Pod 2.0 - no different functioning is between the 2 pods. The MKI is a bit cheaper (used as its older) but it has a bit larger display. The FBV Express worked with mine but it really is pointless as you cannot change banks and are locked into the 4 presets. But if its all you have its all you have. That would be better then the FBV4. There are two versions of the Pod 2.0 (as you probably know) and there are 2 different versions of the FBV4 (the 4 button only one) IIRC one was for one and the other for the other. Its been too long since I dusted the FBV4 off so I can't comment on which one would/might work.
  18. Look for a used FBV Shortboard. In the long run it will work with everything up to an HD Bean (Flextone III). So if you upgrade your setup the FBV can still be used.
  19. I would say "yes" but with a however. The newer stuff can go light years beyond but some ears still really love the Pod 2.0 tones. As the modelers get more advanced so does dialing them in as the options and amps are many. I don't have a Sv or an amplify but they do have mid range crunch in them but probably won't be called Crunch. :)
  20. Select guitar as input in PF, check your input and output levels and try the big chrome knob too.
  21. Have you set the Input in PF to guitar? Then check the levels in PF (input and output).
  22. Its a Cat5 cable. I use the old Floorboard to a Flextone 2 and that is the cable that works. But you are right there are some other network cables that are not standard cat 5 but I am drawing a blank on the terminology. Those would be bad to plug in.
  23. Well PF2 is located: Support-> Downloads. Choose No Hardware Required and Pod Farm 2. I don't have a Mac nor do I have an ILok but that is where PF2 is located.
