  1. No you can dis it Matty - I too have ripped a few pull tabs off of those. It is a tight squeeze for the 500.
  2. Its all good my man, and thanks for posting that for anyone who might be interested. PT Barnum was the founder of Barnum and Bailey circus who once said "There is a sucker born every minute". Keep in mind he was selling "snake oil" to cure a variety of illness. -B
  3. Use "speaker cables" not guitar cables. <snip per post below>. Consult your owner's manual - Spider heads IIRC need to run in stereo 2 x 8 ohm loads not one (which would be 4 ohms and could damage the amp). There is a Spider I, II, III, IV FAQ so look that up prior to experimenting. :)
  4. That is a great story. Thankfully self-amusement is somewhat gratifying when it comes to humor. :D
  5. You can also try running the laptop on the battery only - that should take one outlet out of the equation.
  6. Ironically - I knew the grandson of one of the guys who worked for (I think it was Kodak) the company who made the camera film. His grandfather claimed the film never survived the Van Allen radiation belt. Nevertheless its not me who is the doubter! :)
  7. I don't have a FB3 but in HD Edit the assigns tab should have the info there on what and where you can assign the switching too.
  8. If it is a syncing problem a couple of things come to mind: usb hub - don't use one and try to use the ports on the rear of the PC and it could be a USB cable that might be so-so. Synching is throwing a lot of data back and forth.
  9. Yep Gearbox was the next gen L6Edit. It hasn't been updated in quite a while but is newer.
  10. XTL right into the FX loop in should do what you want. Watch the volume when you first connect it will be loud.
  11. I use DeOxit for parts cleaning but I have heard of people using WD40.
  12. You can try and reflash it. Run L6 License Manager to restore the model packs you bought. If all else fails you might have to submit a Support Ticket. There is a link entitled "Support" that will lead you to it (top of page).

    Helix vs Pod

I now understand the urge to yell "Git off my lawn" - so I have come full circle. **sigh**
  14. That sucks my man. I am wondering if it is the flash memory going south and not retaining the information. Repair or buy another? That is the question.
  15. $200 is a bit high for "good" on an X3L IMO ~$130-150. I have an X3L but not a Helix so I can only really compare it to the HD. X3L's FX loop is not as good - signal strength can be hard to tame for the 4CM at least, FX Order is not "really" flexible (some can go pre/post but not like the HD), I like the EQ'ing better (easier to use) though if you have the HD's eq figured out then the HD's eqs are/can be more effective, Dual Tones can be great. Studio Direct does sound good for FRFR "If" you Eq the fizz out of it (like the HD). I do really like the X3Ls and they can deliver the goods. But based upon your question and experience I would suggest another HD probably a 500 non-x could be scored for near the $$ of that particular X3.
  16. TBH the only thing would be to try a different power supply. As you have been reflashing a PS would be the only thing to try next to a trip to the service center.
  17. With the UX2 you should be able to use Pod Farm (the free one at the very least).
  18. Hey There, Are you sure you aren't mixing something up? There is a L6 Monkey for drivers and such but I never heard of the Jam Monkey. For the UX2 you would need to use it with Pod Farm and to record a device like Audacity (DAW).
  19. Yeah it "might" be time as they don't last too long under steady use. That is my best guess. Way back when I got my first real tube amp it started sounding like a motor boat (sputtering, spitting) yep - tubes. 1-2 years was all I got out of them. But they do sound damn good!
  20. Hey fellas, its all good because in the end we try the guitar out for feel and sound which goes to personal preference regardless of the materials. If you could put a Floyd on a turd and it sounded good we would find someone playing it saying it is #1. :)
  21. My man, just think about when windoze 13 comes out if the HD is not recognized. Those wee encoders take a bunch of abuse spinning from 0 to 100 and I try to use them only for "rehearsal" tweaking. Things could be worse I suppose is what I am blathering about. :) My poor hair too!
