But if it could be a viable solution for you there would be a simple workaround: do record also your drum track with the looper, and continue doing your overdubs, doing so they will never go out of sync with the drum track. PS. I forgot to say that for the above workaround you need a dual chain patch, with one path dedicated to the guitar and the other parallel path empty to let the drum track signal passing through it unprocessed but recordable, you could use the AUX input for the drum track signal coming from a drum machine or an external audio interface used by your DAW or any other audio program. Obviously once recorded in the looper, the original drum track or metronome signal should be stopped not to be recorded again and again. Greetings to Germany If you think that the POD HD500X is not enough powerful to handle the virtual chains of effects and amp models you need for your recordings, you could consider Helix or Helix LT which are the most powerful Line6 modelers currently on the market, and much more powerful than the POD HD500X.. Personally as a performing/recording musician I'm still using the old POD HD500 and I never reached the hardware limits for the tones I need to use, but we guitarists are all different and with different needs. Surely the POD doesn't send any MIDI through USB, but only through its MIDI OUT connector.. Therefore I guess that at least you will need an external MIDI interface (or an audio interface provided with MIDI) to be able to send MIDI commands from the POD to your MacBook. You could connect the POD to the Spider mp3 input and use the amp solid state power-amp and speaker only to make the POD signal loud, your Spider amp would be used only as sort of monitor, without taking advantage of any of its main features.. in the above case the connection scheme would be: Guit-->POD (effects and amp models)-->Spider mp3 input IMO a better solution would be connecting the POD to the Spider Guitar input and use the POD only for the effects and the Spider for the amp models, basically it would be like having a traditional pedal board between the guitar and the amp.. the connection scheme would be: Guit-->POD (only effects)-->Spider (only amp models) in case at same point you get a decent FRFR monitor that will be the best solution since you'll take advantage of both the effects and amp models included in the POD but with a better monitoring system than what you'd get through the mp3 input of the Spider, and everything will be managed from the POD patches and controls. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I have all the HD model packs (bought separately in different times, not the bundle) plus the model packs for the XTL and POD Farm. First advice: stop repeatedly authorizing and deauthorizing your stuff because there is a limited number of times you can do it, after which you'll have to ask the Line6 staff if they can give you further permissions to do it again.. Second: The License Manager is not the best program made by Line6, and it happens that even if the model packs are actually already installed/authorized in the device, you don't see them listed between the device add ons in the License Manager.. In order to see if the model packs are actually installed/authorized in your device the best and reliable method is directly on the device: press and hold the VIEW button to access the system settings and go to the last page, over there you will see listed what you have installed in your device, if you see your model packs listed nothing else to do is necessary. If you have already tried another power supply with exactly the same specs as the original, the last possibility (if you have not already done so) is to try a firmware update in safe mode. Here is the procedure: Power Up the device while pressing the Nav Pad Down button. On the device screen you should see UPDATE FLASH. Connect the device to the computer through USB. The Hiwatt 103 amp has more clean headroom than other rock amps like the Plexi that instead distorts earlier with lower settings . So to make it distort by itself (with no pedals) it needs to be turned up quite a lot. By default its amp model has the master volume parameter set halfway at 50%, therefore you can still turn it up more to make its power-amp distorting much more. Given for granted that it's absolutely normal that an amp with a certain volume output number/value is perceived much louder when distored than when it is clean.. the simpler solution to get what you need would be to do 2 patches with the same amp, each one with its different DRIVE setting, set the volume of the CLEAN patch to be fairly high to get the best signal/noise ratio, then compare the distorted patch to the clean one and set its volume to get the same perceived volume (surely its volume number will need to be set to a lower value than in the clean patch). If the small lag time which occours when swithing patches is a problem, alternatively and by using just one patch you could assign both the amp DRIVE and VOLUME parameters to the Expression Pedal and set the min a max values of the parameters to work in the opposite direction of each other, ie when (by using the pedal) the amp DRIVE increases the VOLUME decreases at the same time to compensate for the perceived different volume which would occour not doing so, and viceversa. another solution could be to build a patch with 2 same amps in the chain but with different DRIVE and VOLUME settings and assign both of them (when one is turned on and the other is turned off) to the same footswitch, so you can switch between them 2 easily (and without lag time), but this solution is DSP hungry and you wouldn't be left with much resources to add many other blocks in the chain. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

To be honest I never tried it, but I guess that the following suggestions might work fine for your needs.. In your DAW right click the metronome button, click its 'routing' button, and select which output 1 or 2 you'd like the metronome to go to. Plug a dummy jack into the POD output chosen above to keep the stereo outputs separation of the device, ie to avoid the L and R mixing/summing to mono which happens automatically when only one jack is inserted in one of the POD jack outputs. For the connection to PA you'll use only the other POD output. Still in Reaper right click on the routing button of the backing track and route its output to an output other than the one chosen above for the metronome, and connect the corresponding POD output to your PA. If your POD patches signals end as stereo use the mixer block in the chain to pan both the 2 channels L and R to the same side set for the backing tracks, the one going to the PA, or mono-ize the final stereo signal by putting a mono FX at the very end of the chain, eg a noise gate with neutral setting (ie doing nothing other than mono-izing the patch signal, it shouldn't affect also the DAW signal). In your heaphones the metronome will be on one side only, and the rest (guitar and backing tracks, in mono) on the other side, doing so no metronome should reach the PA, but only the backing tracks and your guitar signals (in mono). The quickest way is to daisy chain connecting the additional speakers you have to the speakers directly connected to the Left and Right outputs of the POD. But in order to be able to daisy chain connecting the speakers at least 2 of them (the ones connected directly to the POD) must be provided with connector labeled “Output,” “Mix Output,” or “Link Output” that is used for daisy chain connecting speakers together. Good question.. Several guitarists add an EQ FX just after the overdrive/distortion effect to better sculpt the resulting distortion.. Line6 designers had the very good idea to add the post-EQ built in some FX blocks so you don't have to waste one of the available FX slots to add one. Given that you are going to use a full real amp (pre-amp+power-amp in a box), you don't need the amp models anymore, unless you want instead to create several hybrids (which could be very cool), basically combining the POD pre-amp models with the real power-amp+cab, in this case you could avoid using the 4CM and simply connect the POD directly to the RETURN input of your amp (thus bypassing the real pre-amp and connecting only to the real power-amp). In the following order: 1) make sure not to connect the POD to USB 3 ports (they are not compatible with the POD), connect to USB 2 only ports.. 2) check the USB cable 3) check the device USB port, if it looks like this it is broken this one is fine (see the plastic rectangle in the middle) ----------------------------------------- In regard to the displayed USB firmware version, my device that has been working for years shows always the USB version zero (as in your case) until it is connected to the computer and is recognized, after which it finally shows the version 1.04 of the USB firmware.
