  1. The 69 uses the same boards and firmware as the 59's, 89's and 89F's. The only thing that separates them is a part of the program that tells it which guitar it is. It's a little discernible to me because I've worked on so many of these. BTW, yours is from 2012 and should have the current board revision, with a more recent firmware, maybe 2.20 or 2.21-ish firmware. Unless you rolled it back to v1.90 for a patch you like, as some do. You should be doing a bit better. Some send theirs in for a good going over including updates on hardware. @ mbrendzel,... btw, the current v2.22 firmware came in 2017. And if ever there's a problem with a guitar, log a ticket with support, maybe send it in and I'll give it my usual fine tooth comb of TLC. It's what I do here.
  2. Definitely odd. All the Micro Spider amps I've worked on here, I've never heard that.
  3. What is that plugged into the input? What ever it is, it's probably what's making it sound like that.
  4. https://line6.com/support/manuals/microspider Page 10, do a factory reset and see that helps. And remember, it's a small amp, it's not going to have the same punch as a bigger amp with two 12-inchers in the cabinet.
  5. They should be getting back to you soon. I've been in contact with them.
  6. DL4 is an instrument level signal device and not designed for use with phantom power. Phantom power is meant for use with condenser mics.
  7. https://www.vsquaredguitar.com/ I don't think it will fit in a Variax cavity as a retro-fit, with everything else in there.
  8. I concur with cruisinon2. ktweedy1,... were you at NAMM in Anaheim, CA last week? Saw that guy with the multi-functional tremolo bar?
  9. 1) Check in with the Helix postings here on the Forum page. 2) No. As for foot controllers, might want to check in with the Helix postings here on the Forum page. 3) Scale has no affect. 4) 9-volt system is not compatible with either or any Variax. And there won't be enough space in the cavity without routing out some of the wood to make space for it all. Line 6 does not endorse modifications to its products. Inserting modification that affect the functionality of the product can void your warranty. Any modifications would be at your own risk.
  10. CAT5 or CAT5e,... no CAT6 or CAT7. It's not about the highest bandwidth or bit rate, it's about the bandwidth and bit rate for the application you are using. So stick to the CAT5 or CAT5e, or you may find yourself with drop outs and artifacts because of being so far outside the operations range of the device. Like trying to run a Formula-1 racer on a Go-Cart track,... it doesn't work. I have this chat with Steve Lampen of Belden Cable from time to time, since this a subject of discussion here. And he is the King of Cables who has books out on this stuff. And he knows it well. The right cable for the right application, for the operating parameters of the device.
  11. No problem. Easy for me, I work on these all day long.
  12. I know Aspen Pittman who used to own Groove Tubes. Love Groove Tubes, good product,... just not in a DT amp. It would be fine if it were an all analog amp, but it's not. The digital half needs to talk nice to the analog half and vice-versa, or something will go wrong. That's why getting the correct tube is crucial. Can't get away with the same willy-nilly of tube swapping we used to do with "all analog tube amps" back in the 1960's and 70's. Soft, medium and hard has to do with the ratio of gas-to-vacuum within the tube. 50/50 it's default medium. Tube suppliers should know this stuff and know what they have. That's why sticking to the EH's is the best bet, the ones we get for these amps are mediums, since that's what these amps are optimized for. Stick with the Medium EH's,... no Tung-Sol, Mesa, JJ's, Groove Tubes or Ruby Tubes in a DT amp. Just had my annual tube chat at NAMM over the weekend with former Groove Tube's Aspen Pittman and EH's Mike Matthews, they keep me current.
  13. EH's are what's officially approved by engineering, and I concur. But, probably the pre-amp is not as crucial with DT25 as it is with the DT50. So the China ones for the DT25 are okay. Just make certain that for the soft, medium or hard, that you get mediums,... no compromising on that. It's what these are optimized for.
  14. Don't know the cost, that's something you'll have to contact support about. Having the current firmware is worth it. You get to use Workbench HD with it's more up to date features. After that, it's more of a personal preference thing,... which Models from a given firmware version and all.
  15. JTV-89, made in 2012. No service history. Check Knowledge Base for general information on JTV's.
  16. "I doubt that anyone at Line6 cares if you swap necks. Why would they?"--- To be a bit more accurate, we don't want you to void your warranty. Do a mod that has an affect on the functionality of the product is what voids the warranty. Hate to see someone do that. Also we don't support mods, especially if it means messing with someone else's product that's mounted onto ours, like a Strymon retro-fit to one of our amp products. Their retro-fit, and it voided the guy's warranty, and Strymon didn't want to deal with it. That was a long time ago.
  17. Check the Knowledge Base for any related info before proceeding. Hope it's out of warranty by now. :)
  18. Looks like a 500, back of the neck is not coated like a 600. And what silverhead said!

  20. 12AX7EH for the pre-amp valves. EL84EH, have to be a matched set for the power stage. What elegault2 said,... http://line6.com/sup...nd/#entry198956 You can get away with using the China 12AX7's, but that's more used on the Spider Valve and Alchemist amps. Sticking with the EH valves is the best bet. Saw Mike Mathews, owner of EH the other day at a trade show and had my annual chat with him about valves (tubes), so you know my info is current.
