  1. Try Workbench-HD through the Downloads page on the Support link.
  2. Sounds like a solder point on the toggle assembly. The is no way to clean the switch from the outside, as the switch assembly is not made that way for users to get at the contacts from the outside. Leave this to a trained Line 6 authorized technician who knows the product.
  3. They wanted a deal, but that never happened. My servicing and repair of someone else's product would have complicated things way too much.
  4. Read Steve Lampen's books on this subject before messing with cables, he's at Belden Cable.
  5. Also the effects channel volume, if it's being engaged. Unless you have experience with tube amps, keep your fingers out of the insides of theses amps.
  6. General rule of thumb,... keep your fingers out of the insides of these amps, the shock hazard is too great. These are potentially lethal voltages if they touch the wrong thing. Even with the power off and AC un-plugged, 200V cap discharge into your hand hurts like hell. If you get a shock with both hands on the chassis, it could be lethal.
  7. A Head,... about a year,... might be time for a tube swap. The pop was probably the plate fuse opening. Needs servicing by an authorized service center. Read up on my posting about tube replacements,.... Use an authorized service center, the fuse is a very particular fuse with a specific specification,... no substitutions. And as a reminder, always plug speakers into the correct Ohms outputs. These amps are not forgiving of mods or deviations from the ops manual.
  8. Line 6 does not support any modifications to it's products. If you modify it and it fails, then I can't fix it. Have two, one on the bench and one going back,... both failed because they didn't listen to advice. Don't do that! Schematics are proprietary. There is possible lethal shock hazard with these amps. There are quirks about going from combo to head that can and probably will irreparably damage the amp over time. And no, for now it's proprietary, so I can't talk about it or get into more details. These amps are very unforgiving of modifications, so don't do that!
  9. Follow the instructions in the Knowledge Base link in the prior post, and do it again. You probably had a blinking red LED near the end of the process, they both need to be green through the entire update process to avoid the MIDI Timeout Error.
  10. I found a string butt end rolling around inside a cavity, looks like a Hi-E string end. " I sent a detailed description of the issue and all the cables plus step by step on how to test it. "--- did it line by line. " ... of course none of the cables were even undone ..."--- did that. I'm picky about putting everything back the way I find it. I and one of the support people here check it with Line 6 Monkey and Workbench HD and it worked fine. And he used a Helix as requested. Still not working,.... is there a USB hub connected to your set-up? What computer and OS?
  11. Você está usando um tipo de cabo de guitarra Tip-Sleeve (TS) regular ou um tipo de cabo Tip-Ring-Sleeve (TRS)? (Are you using a regular Tip-Sleeve (TS) type of guitar cable, or a Tip-Ring-Sleeve (TRS) type of cable? )
  12. More like a custom job, since you can't run these other devices off of a Variax supply line. It also means that the Alt Tune would clash with standard tuned string signal. Trying to tap the piezo signal off without pulling down the line,... you need someone with intimate knowledge of Variax inside circuitry, otherwise the signal will be sucked away by the tap off circuit.
  13. Log a support ticket in your account.
  14. Return to Andertons for another one or have it service through them. Battery box circuit, main board glitch, problem with the UI controls (rare on this product), or glitch in the jack plate,... all are not a DIY fixes. No ESN inside the guitar, so "None" is normal for this product.
  15. Models are the same in right handed and left handed 500's.
  16. Tubes choices to use for the DT Series,... DT-50 Series: 12AX7EH Electro-Harmonix Low Microphonic approved for the DT50 pre-amps. EL34EH Electro-Harmonix (matched pairs) for the power amps. DT-25 Series: 12AX7B China for pre-amps. EL84EH Electro-Harmonix (matched pairs) for the power amps. Soft, medium or hard, the ratio between vacuum-to-inert gas in the tube,... all tubes used have to be mediums. Power amp tube choices are crucial, and must be properly biased by a tech or Line 6 authorized service center who knows the product. Don't do this yourself, the shock hazard is too great,... and it hurts when you get electric shock. Leave it to a tech trained who is for this. These valve amps are particular about tubes and tube brands. Do Not use substitutes, No Mesa, Groove Tube, Tung-Sol or JJ or (etc) substitutes. No hot rodding of an already Bogner hot rod.
  17. For Alchemist users, it's not a simple tube replace and bias. There is a whole bias and burn-in procedure, and calibration to be done, so leave the whole procedure of this one to the professionals (Line 6 authorized servicing).
  18. Tube choices to use,... Spider Valve: 12AX7B China for pre-amps. 5881WXT Sovtek (matched pair), with the base cup bottom. 5881WXT Sovtek (matched quartet), with the base cup bottom for the HD-100 and HD100 MkII. Soft, medium or hard, the ratio between vacuum-to-inert gas in the tube,... all tubes used have to be mediums. Low microphonic 12AX7EH for the pre-amp is fine. Do Not use substitutes, No Mesa, Groove Tube, Tung-Sol, Ruby or JJ substitutes. No hot rodding of an already Bogner hot rod.
  19. Use a !/4" TRS cable (not a TS cable), out of the guitar to the amp. If that doesn't work, return it for another one. It's either a problem with the battery box power management circuit, or a problem with the main processor board. Either way, you shouldn't have to go through that. Should work right off. And the nearest authorized service center is in the south English Midlands, a bit of a ways from you.
  20. Thank you. Have one on the bench now from someone who didn't listen. A number of items to replace as a result. It didn't have to be.
  21. Has it been serviced recently? If so, was a main board swap involved?

    Tubes

Dear group, I can not emphasize this enough,...do not, do not, do not use anything other than the specified tubes (valves) in these amps. Power tubes must be matched sets. Use only the specified tubes. Please, I'm trying to keep your gear of of my repair bench, so you can make music and rock out. Thank you.
