Registering beta 89 ?

Nice. Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to get hold of a Beta? -
Two Spider IV 75 amps in Stereo?
psarkissian replied to rhodesworks's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Yeah,... MIDI I/O is different, there's in, out and thru. Not the case here. -
Two Spider IV 75 amps in Stereo?
psarkissian replied to rhodesworks's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
There may be something commercially available, someone posted a week or two ago here, that is supposed to deal with that. We haven't checked it out here, so anything outside of the normal use of our product is ill advised, unsupported use and at your own risk. Be aware that if this fails, the floor board and the FBV connection circuit on both amps could be damaged. You aren't the first to try this, and as I mentioned earlier, I've seen the results of the failed attempts. It would be unsupported use of the product. It was never designed for that. -
Two Spider IV 75 amps in Stereo?
psarkissian replied to rhodesworks's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
The amps have a supply voltage for FBV boards in the connector. That would double the voltage on the floorboard supply line and risk damage to the circuitry. Which would explain the number of units that come across my repair bench with failed voltage regulators. Don't do that,... please. -
internal spring for JTV-69 trem arm?
psarkissian replied to rarnett47's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
No springs inside the tremolo arm shaft on any JTV or Variax Standard. Just the tension springs. This image doesn't look like a Variax bridge. -
Acoustic on 59 vs 69 - trem springs?
psarkissian replied to smashmashup's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The tremolo spring tension can be adjusted, ever so slightly, to give a little extra string-to-piezo contact for dive bombing,... a little extra. I do that from time-to-time on request,... as part of service and repairs when doing a final set-up on a guitar. -
Variax 300 noisy on xps mini power
psarkissian replied to mozart999uk's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
It's probably going to need to be checked out by a Line 6 authorized service center. In your area that would be E&M Electronics in Milton Keyes. Also, a former Line 6 tech has his own shop, Mark Wright Music in Northampton, he knows his stuff, good tech. An older product like that, there's probably a loose connector, oxidized solder joint or similar. Don't try doing this yourself. -

That's for updates thru Monkey and for using with Workbench. -
Double DSP Hardware?

At least not until some future version. Go to Idea Scale and submit this idea.- 3 replies

UX8 live stream
psarkissian replied to philmadewell's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Need to go thru the set-up and Gearbox or POD Farm. The UX8 might be ready to go, but maybe the UX2 isn't. Each has to be set up separately. Just because the UX8 is set up and running, doesn't automatically mean the UX2 is. -
Double DSP Hardware?
psarkissian replied to mcmyn's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
In the words of Roy Scheider in the movie Jaws, "You're gonna need a bigger boat". Would need more board real estate and a really fast clock, and a lot more memory,... more board space. Bigger hole in the guitar and less wood to accommodate. Trying to stuff more into an ever smaller space. That's the challenge.- 3 replies

Variax 300 noisy on xps mini power
psarkissian replied to mozart999uk's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Regarding cleaning contacts,.... From the Line 6 Knowledge Base. Don't spray directly in, cotton swab and drip it. -
Sovtek is preferable. The Sovtek factory is owned by Electro-Harmonix. The Sovtek may have "LPS" as a suffix, that's fine, it just means it's a low microphonic version. And that's a good thing.

Tunings and Models don't stay when switching presets.
psarkissian replied to Aurylian's topic in Shuriken
Force/Don't Force mode. When a floor effects is in "Force" mode, the guitar defers to the default in the floor effects. When it's in "Don't Force", the guitar is independent of floor effects presets. -

JTV 59 - Bridge Magnetic Pickups Noise
psarkissian replied to EzeCerino's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
There is a pick-ups wiring diagram for JTV's in the Knowledge Base here. But the problem you're having goes to other parts of the switch assembly, so be very careful. It's easy to mess up. Make certain you put the cover on in the correct orientation with the tape underneath. You believe how many times someone has put it on incorrectly and shorted everything out because of the under-side foil touching the switch assembly.- 14 replies

JTV 59 - Bridge Magnetic Pickups Noise
psarkissian replied to EzeCerino's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
"... but why when I take of the battery and play it with a regular guitar cable (1/4" mono) the noise immediately stops. "--- Different part of the circuitry is engaged. It's not the usual Switchcraft toggle switch, it's special switch assembly. Schematics are not available to the public, it's proprietary technology. I've serviced and repaired close to 1,600 of these Line 6 guitars these last 7-1/2 years, and be dealing with guitars and audio electronics for more than 40 years,... don't mess with it unless you have lots, and I mean lots of experience with the insides of this product. It made look easy inside, but it's also very easy to mess up unless you have intimate knowledge about this the way I do. Leave it to a Line 6 authorized service center.- 14 replies

"What is the interface voltage running from the amp to the FVB Express switching mechanism?"--- Unfortunately that's circuit level stuff that I can't get into with someone outside the company without expressed permission from Line 6, or a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Being a tech, I can advise you on what not to do to, so that you don't damage or ruin your gear (and therefore keep it off of my repair bench). This gear was not designed to be used that way, so modifications like that would be at your own risk. It's as far as I can go with this.

Learning how to play the prerecorded jam songs
psarkissian replied to mcglothlin's topic in Spider Jam
Amplifi amp series allows downloads from the web, of actual songs that people like to play along with. Very handy for those practicing new material, for performing in cover bands. -
Be very careful with splitters. The amps are the source of the supply voltage to the pedal, having two runs the risk of an over-voltage, and a risk damage to the pedal circuits and program IC chip. Certain kinds over-voltages can erase programs in processors in general, if one is not careful.
