  1. It's a retro-fit that if done right, like it is here, works well. I've played one his,... pretty good.
  2. Double check the way the collar is, they both have set screws, the top photo it's obscured. Is there any texturing on the bridge, or? Can you upload a photo of what you have?
  3. If you are using the wiring diagram from the Knowledge Base, then this will be fine. the 8.4 kΩ may sound a little darker, Alnico 4 transfer function should event that out. I'm the one who posts about staying within the 6-8 kΩ range. It's going into a board with active circuits and needs to stay within that range for impedance matching purposes, or the tone will be different.
  4. Mags would only have an affect if the pick-up to string distance off spec, inducing warbling.
  5. When a string breaks, have to check for anything loose inside. Loose things can migrate. With Shawn Phillips, I found three in his JTV-69. But then, he tours a lot and the guitar needed a lot of work that day. Worked great when I got done with it. Still going strong, still hear from him form time to time.
  6. Go back and change it for the JTV-89F. Trying to modify an 89 to become an 89F, is the long way around a short track course. And it wouldn't sound the same when you got done with the modifications.
  7. It needs to be serviced at an authorized Line 6 service center that knows the product. It's not something you can fix yourself, it's a hardware problem on the inside that needs to be dealt with. It's a ten year old product that needs some servicing, like a car's 50,000 mile check up.
  8. Once downloaded to your computer, use Workbench HD to load them into your guitar. As far as I know, these are not compatible with other JTV or Variax Standard guitars. These are for the Shuriken exclusively.
  9. Flash memory is the IC chip and Model programming, Firmware is program that manages other functions.
  10. I have a set-up for at my guitar repair station for this sort of thing. Not sure what I can do about the finish as I don't have a paint booth, but I'll see what I can do once it's on my bench.
  11. Just the color. The insides are the same. Don't know about the bag or case thing. Have to ask your retailer that one.
  12. Make sure you are not daisy chaining your devices. Use a star connect configuration as much as possible, with the computer at the center of the star.
  13. 12's wouldn't be so bad, but 13's is do'able, but is pushing it.
  14. "Is it possible to update the my JTV firmware WITHOUT a charged battery?"---No, not at this time, sorry. You should use the interface device and have a fully charged battery.
  15. Not so much the Brand as it is the gauge. 12 gauge set is as high as I would go, or have gone with these. D'Addarion XL-110 is the factory set with Line 6 guitars. It will need a serious set-up after changing string gauges to a set with 13's.
  16. Correct,... use one or the other, but not both together.
