Acoustic 700 Bridge unglued and fell off
psarkissian replied to forresal's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Log a support ticket, it needs to come to me for repair. -
Wouldn't know that myself about Zzounds. Maybe they just had to say something. And of course, sign up for the newsletter. Good way to stay current at least, like the Forum here. Doing Shurikens with different wood bodies or paint jobs being shown at the NAMM was great. There was voting on which version people liked the best.

Model Select Knob Replacement ? and some other questions
psarkissian replied to macsnjets's topic in Variax Standard
"Should this post be in "Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench" ?"--- Yes. "Isn't the 300 a Legacy model?"--- Yes. -
VDI cable VS Jack
psarkissian replied to SteveFrance's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
"Is there any difference between VDI cables?"--- Not in the impedance. Minor differences in the outer insulation. "... there's a result difference between the VDI cable and jack (for the same "guitar" whether the mag pickups or the models, just changing the cable)."--- That may,... may, be attributed to tolerances or variations in batches or cable vendors, in my decades of experience with this stuff. "input impedance, I generally prefer to keep the 1/4" input impedance at 1M and not auto. This results in a bit more noise, but better response, articulation and high end."--- Interesting observation. Noise is a frequency/amplitude thing, and impedance is a function of frequency, and filters and impedance matching control that. With the HD500X, I use the Input Impedance selector to dial in the desired impedance for the desired effect. Sometimes ultra clean, sometimes not. Very good. -
If I don't know what we'll end up with, you can bet Zzounds will know even less.

Is JTV USA still being made?
psarkissian replied to sabastiane's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Best of my knowing, they are ready assembly when ordered. Not much in the way of in-stock and ready-to-ship. -
VDI cable VS Jack
psarkissian replied to SteveFrance's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
"Another difference that might be relevant is the Guitar In-Z parameter that applies only to the 1/4" Helix input. It is not available for the VDI input."---- from silverhead, ... yes, more than likely. brue58skie's assertion,... interesting, but no. Sorry I can't get into more detail than that, as that would be getting into circuit level stuff that I can't into here in public. Interesting idea though. Palico,... yes, there will be minor impedance differences between TRS guitar cable and the multi conductor VDI that would play into it. There are practices in the electronics world that are world wide standards for cables, impedances, and a whole host of things regarding the elements that go into a piece of gear. -
VDI Cable jack disconnects

Log a support ticket on that one. That shouldn't happen. -
Model Select Knob Replacement ? and some other questions
psarkissian replied to macsnjets's topic in Variax Standard
Go the support part of the site to download the operations manual. Most of that should be in there. Do you need just the knob, or the whole selector? Oh, by the way,.... this is Forum page for the Legacy Variax, not the newer ones. -
"... fender. vox, marshall, splawn, engl"--- 1) Don't know how much, if any, of their service and engineering information is proprietary. 2) That's their choice what they do with whatever proprietary info they have. 3) We can't vouch for the technical skills of general public out there. That's why there are authorized service centers. 4) You could open a support ticket, but they won't have the authority to okay a schematic. Don't want anyone getting hurt on account of them not knowing what they are doing. Jesse, you might know what you are doing, but can you speak for anyone else out there? Would you take that risk and responsibility that goes with it? Too many people out there who claim they know what they're doing and don't. They get in too deep, they I have to pick up the pieces and bail them out. And sometimes, the damage they do is beyond my capabilities to save it. And silverhead knows how good I am, so he has a reference point on this. Just out of curiosity,... what product in particular were you thinking of?

Only if you want a dark tone in your sound.

Since Line 6 doesn't support mods, it's not something I deal with much. Brands,.... Gotoh, Hipshot, Sperzel and Schaler make good locking tuners. It's a matter of going to the shop, finding what you like that fits. In the end, it's personal taste at that point. However, don't get the Jin-Hor1-4, had a fit problem with the tuning posts on a customer guitar. Posts were the wrong diameter and messed up the breaking angle at the string nut. Had to replace the string nut too, nut slots were grooved and messed up. The holes appear to be 10mm diameter, if that helps.

Maybe remove plink, there are many reasons for that. More than likely, minimize it. When changing gauges, the tension changes and the set-up is altered. Have the set-up checked and adjusted when changing gauges.
-
-Be careful not to alter the functionality of the guitar, so as to not void the warranty. -Use pick-ups with a DC/bulk resistance spec of between 6k to 8k Ohms, or the impedance won't match. And that will alter the tone of the signal.
-
Take the guitar to the store, check it out there. Have someone who knows this stuff look it over and show you the options of what fits. The choices are many. Whatever fits, that you like.
-
Go to a local store with the guitar and have them matched up. There are slight nuances that can make the difference between what works and what doesn't. Have an example on my bench right now. Had to swap out the 3rd party tuners for the factory stock ones.

Line6 6 dt50 power transformer replacement reviews
psarkissian replied to DWhaley81's topic in DT50 / DT25
Never replaced them,.... how long have the tubes been in the amp? -
Yes,... your local L&M, and they would ship to Pickering. Unless they have servicing on location. Check with the location in your area on that.
-
Pick-up DC/ bulk resistance specs should be between 6k and 8k Ohms, or you will have impedance match problems, and that will alter the tone EQ. Remember these are not passive circuits, the guitar circuit board wants to see a specific impedance level at the input.

What tubes are in it? -
L&M and Yorkville would have their service and repair in Pickering, in Ontari-ari-o.

Pickup selector switch
psarkissian replied to wrongaccount's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
@markbarron416,... JTV-59, sounds like one of the solder points on the switch assembly. Support has made me aware of it. We're on the case. -
Well, 45+ experience, and I used to buy and sell these chemicals when I did retail electronics. And I was there (being a member of AES and IEEE) when AES gave the talk on the subject, which is how I know what they recommended. Rubbing alcohol,... yes, if possible, preferably with a higher isopropyl level. We use 99% here. Trich and other fluorocarbons and MEK would be better, but those are unsafe and so banned for consumer use.
