  1. DO NOT use 3 and 1 Oil. DO NOT use WD40 or any silicon or petrol based lubricants. These are semi insulator, and it will gum up and mess up the insides of the pot, and make things worse. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/general-faq/cleaning-pots-and-faders-r816 70% to 99% isopropyl alcohol was a maintenance recommendation by the Audio Engineering Society (AES) for tape heads, pots, switches and such, if you can't get the afore mentioned items in the link.
  2. Not the original owner, so if the Alt Tune is lit blue, then the previous owner saved their own Alt Tunes in those selections. Easy enough, just re-Flash the guitar back to factory settings.
  3. 1) It might solve it, if it is the piezo and not fret buzz from a Lo-E string, or some loose connection underneath. 2) Yes, the piezos can be hard to install if you haven't done one before. Best to leave that to a Line 6 authorized tech with experience dealing with this.
  4. String gauge and tension will have more of an affect when it comes to the piezos.
  5. Still works. All Alt Tunes will change relative to the physical tuning. Just don't physically tune down more than a step and a half (three semitones), or it may have pitch tracking issues start to creep in.
  6. Caveat,.... the DC or Bulk Resistance specs have to be between 6k to 8k Ohms, or there be an impedance mis-match.
  7. Keep the saddle height adjusting screws in their grooves.
  8. Might want to discuss that with Rheinhold Bogner, since he designed the tube amp section. I forget his reasoning on that one, it was 10 years ago. Yeah, log pot is more conducive to an audio curve, makes sense, at least in an all analog tube amp. Not certain about the reasoning in a hybrid (analog/digital) amp like this. The analog tube section and the digital processor section have to to play nice with one another, and that might also be part of the reasoning behind it.
  9. True,... but the processor board isn't. And need to operate tubes in the linear range of their characteristic curve, so as to not get non-linear distortions. Like with any amplifier.
  10. Taylor has a 300 or 700 Acoustic from some time ago. James Tyler is a Los Angeles area custom boutique guitar maker. Line 6 partnered with him a few years ago for this. This Forum category is more for the Standard, which is a Line 6/Yamaha product.
  11. Intermittent solder point, leaky capacitor, failing amp circuit. This is a 10+ year old product, so some component is starting to fail. Needs servicing from a Line 6 authorized service center that knows the product.
  12. With Log pots there's a risk of non-linear distortions creeping in at certain gain levels on the gain curve. So be careful and aware.
  13. It's a very subtle thing that you really wouldn't notice.
  14. Use the specified 5881WXT match sets for power tubes. Line 6 authorized service technician. Keep yours fingers out of the insides of these things, the shock hazard is too great. If one went down, was replaced and still doesn't work, there's something else involved. Leave it to an authorized tech that knows the product well.
  15. Around 2012 or 2013, a update to the specs to the knife edge and bridge posts, so the wouldn't wear as much or as quick. If you replace the bridge, then replace the bridge posts as well. nkrcompany,... since you are in the Euro and Full compass doesn't ship there, if you knew someone in America, they might be able to ship these to you. Or, contact Line 6 service partners in your area. There, bridge and posts could be install and a set-up done on the guitar.
  16. https://line6.com/stagesource-pa-speaker/sound Dimensions of the cabinet and power specs, the L3 would have more bottom.
  17. New rev board had some minor hardware changes to work better electronically. Firmware,... a few tweaks with each revision over the years (normalizing some patches, Workbench HD flow,... stuff like that). Oh, and the Models in the Shuriken are different. Aside from several good ole standard patches, the rest were artist patches created by Stevic McKay. After all, the Shuriken is his design.
  18. Why purchase one that didn't work? Get it off of eBay?
  19. Four reasons for that to occur, and would have to be serviced by an authorized service center who knows the product. Log a ticket with Line 6 customer support.
