Carefully pull off the Model knob, then press on the shaft to engage the Models.

Limited Run Amethyst
psarkissian replied to specracer986's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
It's a Limited Edition Variax Standard. Nice color, feels good, nice guitar. http://shop.line6.com/variax-standard-limited-edition-amethyst.html Already played one,... nice. -
Dead String - Is this solder connection supposed to be bridged?
psarkissian replied to sbursik's topic in Shuriken
Yes, that solder point supposed to be like that. Don't mess with it. -
How odd. Early revision board programmed as an 89F,.... v1.70 Alt Tune works v1.71 Alt Tune works Newer revision board programmed as an 89F,.... v1.70 Alt Tune does not work Newer revision board programmed as something else, like a JTV-69,... v1.70 Alt Tune works Since the 89F came out during a later Firmware revision, and its earliest Firmware version would be a later one. That might explain why v1.71 worked, it's a later version program. If this were a newer board and a v2.00+, in another JTV, it would be considered a bug. But an early version Firmware in a later version guitar,... not the case. With a Variax Standard being the way it is, Firmware won't roll back beyond 2.00 program. Apparently, the 89F was not meant to be rolled back that far. Thanks.

http://www.ebay.com/...a-/261197047245 The "Wh" is different. That may affect the charge/discharge rate during usage. That may result in problems down the road. Stick to the specified factory part, it's the best bet.

Variax guitar/pod xt live/workbench hd
psarkissian replied to zamboniman's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Downloads page, "Variax Workbench", and not the HD version. http://line6.com/software/ ... follow the prompts. -
I have way too many horror stories (first and second hand) to be getting into here, relating to way too many bogus and dangerous Chinese fake electronic products. Batteries, IC chips, a host of different components and such, going back to the 1990's. The list is long. And even more articles about this in electronics engineering journals. Cheap price = cheap product. Caveat emptor,... buyer beware. In the meantime, stick with the specified factory components, it's the safe bet.

Stick with the factory spec stuff. Generic charge and drain rate product don't work. That's why there are so many news reports of Li-Ion products blowing up and catching fire. Using cheap mis-matched crap. Mis-matched cheap junk that doesn't work worth a damn. Use the correct part number from reliable sources and not those fly-by-night nimrods. If I find a fried battery compartment or charger when one comes in for servicing, I'll know why, have seen this in a host of products at different places I've worked. Generic substitutes and you're looking for problems,... maybe too deep for even me to bail you all out of. (did I just do a dangling participle?) Cheap really is cheap. Stick with specs.

Fender Widerange Humbucker tone
psarkissian replied to eenymason's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Custom patch using Workbench (not the HD one) would be the way to do it. No new patches for the older ones. -
It's all about impedance matching when it comes to amp Heads. All our amp heads should have something about that in their user manuals. Also there should be something about this in the Knowledge Base I prepared some time back.
-
Just make certain the impedance of the amp outputs and speaker inputs are matched, 8-Ohm to 8-Ohm, 16-Ohm to 16-Ohm, which ever they are.

Is Line 6 Still Making the JTV-69 (HSS)
psarkissian replied to Oyster38N's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Exaggeration is hardly a comparison. Besides, I don't know what else to call it. Semi-custom is the closest I could come up with. Having done both, those are the terms my colleagues and I have come up over the last few eons, short of creating a new terminology out of whole cloth. i get your point, just wish there was better terminology. It's not like the US builds are full-on production line produced, like the Koren ones, and yet not custom-custom like Singleton or Romero guitars. Somewhere in between. The US builds are a different version of the product, and made on-demand in smaller quantities by Tyler's people, as needed, just like Tyler's other guitars here in LA. -

psarkissian replied to Oyster38N's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
And I agree. However the US builds are not entirely production, as they are more of a build-on-demand. So they are not going to have a lot of stock on hand for the US builds, like they do for the Korean builds. It's almost semi-custom in that way. -
Yes, MIDI MCC. Some use it.

I wouldn't know that. You'll need to check with the authorized service center in your area, as price will differ between each country.
