Spider Valve MKII 112 firmware update Catalina
psarkissian replied to MartHelix's topic in Spider Valve
Edit software is in the Downloads page for Spider Valve MkII, and is Catalina compatible. Monkey is not used for edit applications. It downloads to your computer, then interfaces via MIDI. -
Variax JTV-69 Knob Model Light is Red
psarkissian replied to ttchardo's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
It will need to be serviced at a Line 6 authorized service center. This problem is not something that would be a self repair issue. It has been seven years since it was last service here at Line 6. Log a support ticket. -
Variax JTV-69 Knob Model Light is Red
psarkissian replied to ttchardo's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Register the guitar in your account so that I can look up information about it. Sounds like you have had the guitar for some time to be seeing these symptoms. -
Another cabinet will just be mono, split across two cabinets. A second DT25, and make use of Link 6 Link to tie them together. Make certain it's the Line 6 Link 110-Ohm AES/EBU cables. Mic cables won't work.

Variax 900 acoustic wanted
psarkissian replied to Nyjdams's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
I wish. eBay or the Variax Facebook group would be the best bet. -
--- First, you will need the interface, as HD series connects with HD devices JTV/Standard/Shuriken using Flash v2.00 or higher. Older Variax won't be recognized by HD devices such as HD-500/500X. --- According to the Line 6 Downloads page, old Workbench only goes as high as Mac 10.8 OS. So even with the interface, chances are not good.

Variax 900 acoustic wanted
psarkissian replied to Nyjdams's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
700 and 900 use the same program board and program firmware. A 900 Acoustic is a 700 Acoustic with nicer trim and tuning machine, and a more premiere finish to it. In case you weren't already aware. I figure you are aware of that. -
DESDE GRANADA (ESPAÑA) HELP!!!! (DT50 discontinued)
psarkissian replied to juanitoelcamina's topic in DT50 / DT25
Private message me the serial#, I can look up a few things. I'm a service and repair technician at Line 6. If the tubes have not been change in the last two years, then it is long past time for that. Have the work done at a Line 6 authorized service center, because there is more to it than just swapping out and biasing the tubes, there is a bias and test procedure to be done by the authorized service centers. We can not vouch for the abilities of those not authorized, nor whether others outside of that are equipped with tools or are qualified for such work. Self repairs are not recommended or supported, so please have this service at a Line 6 authorized service center. And the shock hazard is too great, it really hurts when you get zapped. Tubes choices to use for the DT Series,... DT-50 Series: 12AX7EH Electro-Harmonix approved for the DT50 pre-amps. EL34EH Electro-Harmonix (matched pairs) for the power amps. DT-25 Series: 12AX7B China for pre-amps. EL84EH Electro-Harmonix (matched pairs) for the power amps. Power amp tube choices are crucial, and must be properly biased by a tech or Line 6 authorized service center who knows the product. Don't do this yourself, the shock hazard is too great,... and it hurts when you get electric shock. Leave it to a tech trained who is for this. These valve amps are particular about tubes and tube brands. Do Not use substitutes, No Mesa, Groove Tube, Tung-Sol or JJ or (etc) substitutes. No hot rodding of an already Bogner hot rod. These amps are not forgiving of modifications, so use the specified tubes. These are not all analog tube amps of the 1960's and 70's, they have to be treated a little different, being both analog and digital. Both sections have to talk nice to one another or problems occur. -
The battery compartment runs off +9V battery, or a battery pack that holds six AA 1.5V batteries. Actually, Support is across the hall from me, I'm a repair tech. I come onto the Forum and Facebook Line 6 gear pages to try to keep everyone from doing things to their product that would make it end up on my repair bench needlessly. Mostly with guitars and tube amps, as people want to mod those in ways that would blow the gear and make them end up on my bench. Wear and tear is one thing, preventable stuff, that's something else. Example,... the mod above, will probably work okay. But it's a third party modification, not supported by Line 6. So, if it were to end on my bench for a failure in that circuit, though I would know how to deal with it, I would not be allowed to do anything with it. It's not our device or product, it's the other company's thing and they would have to deal with it. So mods are a touchy thing. Done my share of Variax mods, custom work and transplants. But those were favours for the execs here and the Line 6 artist endorsers that the work was for. That and 50+ years of experience is why I know where all the pitfalls are and what one can get away with, with this gear. In the meantime, Rock-N-Roll!!!

User Manual Page 4-6, from guitar to XPS,... use a TRS. TS shorts the +V to the return. Don't trust me cause I'm the service guy, do so cause I've been dealing with and cooking up active guitar circuits since about 1976-77 'ish. Used to crew for band Iron Butterfly, the bass player and I were coming up with all sorts of gadgets. That TRS pin-outs for active guitar circuits has been a defacto standard since those days. Might even be an AES/EBU standard by now.

Variax 700 Acoustic Low-E String Volume
psarkissian replied to WildVines's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Yes it can help. Yes, original Workbench is still available, check the Downloads page for compatibility, as ti may not work for more recent computer OS'. Best bet, take it in for servicing at a Line 6 authorized service center. they can check and if need be, replace the piezo. -
tip = signal ring = +Vdc sleeve = ground return Has to be that way, TS can cause issues down the road.

Make certain it's a really good cable and locks tight. Older guitar with worn connectors can be intermittent. My 600 here in the lab is old and the VDI is not as tight as I'd like. But it comes up on the FX and the remote app. Older Variax is 16+ years old and has gone through several incarnations since then. JTV, Standard and Shurikens don't have any connection, sync or pairing compatibility issues with the Firehawk FX and its remote app, but there may be with older Variax, due to the age and technology updates since original Variax.

As the CoVid-19 lock downs are being lifted gradually and in stages, product will move again. No set time frame yet. Doing what we can, when we can.

" Schematics is standard practice for all amplifier manufacturers. " --- 1) Not quite standard practice, especially for those companies with proprietary elements in their products. 2) So not all manufacturers do it. 3) Line 6 doesn't know the tech abilities of people out there, beyond the authorized service centers. So there are other issues related to that. Too many claim to be techs, get in above their heads, then the product ends up on my bench,... sometimes in worse shape. Replacement parts,... what ever available-to-the-public parts there are, would be available through Full Compass. Line 6 is very protective of its IP, the company consul loves sending out cease and desist letters. Best to stay away from the schematics. Unfortunately, there may almost no parts available for your amp, due to its age. Most all spare parts for that have been used up. Your amp pre-dates my arrival to Line 6 some 12+ years ago.

Spider Valve MkII HD100 tube issues - questions.
psarkissian replied to Faerwald's topic in Spider Valve
Use the specified 12AX7 preamp and Sovtek 5881WXT matched set the power tubes. Do not use substitutes, as these are not all analog tube amps. And do it soon, don't continue using it at this point until the tubes are changed out. Have it done at a Line 6 authorized service center, so they can do a thorough going over to it. And they will have access to me in ways others don't, for further deep dive consulting if they wish it.
