  1. It sounds like the plugin itself is crashing the ASIO driver in Reaper. Do you have any other plugins you can try? Maybe DL the FREE version of Amplitube?
  2. DL and install HX Edit v3.11. That will install all of the necessary drivers and replace any that have gotten corrupted (reinstall if necessary). Use HX Edit v3.11 to update the FW in your Helix to v3.11. Open Reaper. Did the error message go away? Until that happens, the rest is academic.
  3. Next thing to try is re-install the FW. Be sure to follow all of the instructions, including the seemingly redundant factory reset after the install. If that doesn't work, contact support, you've probably got a borked unit. Hope it's still under warranty, but sometimes they'll work with you on that.
  4. If you're panned hard right, and he's hard left, the audience on the left hears mostly him, and the audience on the right hears mostly you. The only part of the audience that hears the whole show are the people in the "sweet spot" in the middle. A bit of panning can help separate the guitar tones, but hard panning is not something I would do. If he's using stereo presets, there might be a negative to sending both signals to one set of speakers. Maybe. Depends on the FX he's using. The only definite advantage he gets from sending a stereo signal to only one set of speakers is that HE thinks it sounds better, and the fact that you're asking this question here (to me) suggests that he's the Alpha. Just sayin'.
  5. Not sure what you're after, but try this: With the delay on the B Split, set the delay mix to 100%, then assign the expression pedal to control the level of Path B at the Mix Block. Set the Expression Pedal's MIN/MAX where you want them.
  6. Yes, they ARE alike. In the same way that a ball peen hammer is like a claw hammer. They'll both hammer a nail. One is useful to carpenters. The other is useful to machinists. Different tools for different jobs. If you want it all, get a Helix Floor. Have you ever been to TGP? 1000 people bought one thing or another and think the other should be more like the one thing or the other. They all think that if only L6 (or FAS or ____) had done it the other way, they'd have WAY more sales. My current laugh is all the people over there saying that the PodGo should have this, that and the other features of Helix. Depending, of course, on THEIR specific needs. And without costing more. And smaller. Just dump the useless expression pedal, nobody needs that. Except for all the people who bought it SPECIFICALLY for the all-in-one form factor. Bottom line - the old saying is true - "You can make some of the people happy some of the time, but you can't make all of the people happy all of the time". Also - "A jack of all trades is master of none". Lastly - Rubber chickens are only funny if they're not for dinner. :-)
  7. No. What @waymda said. Buy the QC. It''ll be perfect...soon, and will make you totally happy....soon...... Nobody from L6 hangs out here. Really. Post on Ideascale about how much you'd like L6 products if they were more like somebody else's products. I'm sure they'll make a note. Ommmm........ :-)
  8. Posting before my morning coffee. Never a good idea!
  9. Odds are your music store ordered that (or it was shipped to them from) a distributor. No telling how long it's been on their shelves. 15 minutes is about how long it takes to update your Helix. IF YOU READ AND FOLLOW THE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS! Failure to do so is the #1 cause of failed updates. Take a deep breath, perform the update and get to Rocking!
  10. Did you do the Factory Reset AFTER the update, per the instructions? Do it again anyway.
  11. Quick test as I'm off to work in a few minutes. In Path 2 you have 2 stereo Ping Pongs, followed by a Mono Simple Delay, followed by a Stereo simple delay. You also have a Mono Reverb in a split. So, not a pure stereo signal. Despite that, I'm getting muddy stereo delays in my monitors, and both Ping and Pong in my Tube amp. Turning OFF the Mono delay gives me a much cleaner signal. Replacing the Mono delay with a Stereo version retains the clearer signal. I also replaced the Mono Glitz with a Stereo version. Bottom line - I got no problems with my system like you're reporting. Try the attached version of your preset and let me know if it helps. If not, I'll have another think about it after work. 12. One man's AMAZING! is another man's MEH. For me, Helix is AMAZING for guitar, MEH for bass. I will admit that I haven't spent a lot of time "dialing it in" for bass, and since, for most of my life, I've gone bass>amp, and use very little of the ME-50b's FX - compressor, a touch of reverb, a smidge of SansAmp style dirt, VERY occasional chorus - the vast assortment of bass amps and FX in Helix don't justify the time required to get what the BOSS gives me in 10 seconds. Not trying to disparage you from buying a Helix, I've had mine for 5 years and love it. If I'm playing guitar AND bass at a jam I just bring the Helix and FRFR112 and it's fine. Just saying that for bass, to me, it's underwhelming and way more than I need. YMMV.
  13. Perform a Factory Reset: If that doesn't fix it, reinstall the FW. FOLLOW ALL THE DIRECTIONS! Including the seemingly redundant Factory Reset after the install! If that doesn't get it, time to call support!
  14. Apparently, someone lacks a sense of humor. It makes no sense that OP KNOWS that the support person DIDN'T EVEN TRY because HE (OP) can replicate the problem. There's a failure in logic there. The rest was humor. Sorry you didn't get it. DID anyone else try to restore OP's system to their's? Did YOUR system catch the cooties? :-) :-) :-) No, seriously.... @theElevators - it sounds like a mechanical problem in the Helix, but if it affects both units that's unlikely. I'm not sure how the switching works vis a vis the jacks. You keep calling it a BUG, but if it were a BUG then it would affect everybody. Your stage configuration is very common, and in fact is exactly how my studio is set up. The XLRs send Stereo to the 18i8, the 1/4" sends MONO to my tube amp, and both Stereo and Mono presets work as expected. It's NOT a BUG, but it MIGHT be a glitch if the switching jacks use some sort of digital logic, and that might have spread to the second unit through the "promiscuous" restores. To test this, do a complete Factory Reset and, if that doesn't work, reinstall the FW. If that doesn't get it, it has to be something in your presets, as @Pier_M suggested. Or cooties... :-) :-) :-) A good work-around might be to use a MONO SEND block and take that SEND to the stage amp. And if you attach the offending preset, I'll be happy to have a look at it. I'm not REALLY afraid of cooties.... :-) :-) :-)
  15. DUDE! That makes NO sense at all! No, I'm not going to restore your system to mine! The problem is that your system has cooties, and they spread from one system to the other due to repeated promiscuous backing up and restoring! EEWWWW!!!
  16. Now that we know that being tired of hauling it around is not the whole story, I stand by the rest of what I said, and what DD said. Great reviews on Sweetwater should be compared to the few and lackluster reviews on the two biggest forums for bass players. Also FWIW - no Helix Bass amp OR Cab OR IR has ever given me an "OH YEAH!" moment. If I go out to a jam knowing I'll only be playing bass, I bring my ancient BOSS ME-50b and my FRFR112. It sounds better for bass than anything I've ever gotten out of my Helix! Bottom line - buy 'em and try 'em, just make sure you can return 'em!
  17. First - Your Hartke rig is one of the best all around bass stage rigs ever made. Depending on the type of gigs you play, you may want to try a modern 2-12 or even 2-10 BASS cab to cut weight. Second - after searching both Talk Bass and "The Bottom Line" on TGP, I found only a couple of Deuce Deluxe users, and they added cabs to get a fuller sound on stage. My HR FRFR112 sounds fine with bass, but I don't think it would cut it with a truly LOUD band, or with a down-tuned 5 string at higher volume. Since I no longer play in LOUD bands, and don't play 5-string at all, take it for what it's worth, considering 50+ years playing bass in bar bands.
  18. Depends how much of Path 2's DSP you've already used, and what you want for the Bass. The following eliminates the need to Pan the Output Blocks: Put your minimum required Bass effect/amp into Path 2, pull it down to split the Path, pull down the Input Block and set it to AUX, pull down the Mixer Block and set the Output Block of the Split to one of the SENDS, then take that SEND to whatever you're using for the Bass amp. Add FX to the Bass Path until you run out of DSP. Example attached. johneric8-2.hlx
  19. Simple example attached. Guitar>Guitar Input>Path1>Output L/Mono Bass>Aux Input>Path2>Output Right johneric8.hlx
  20. To what @waymda said I'll only add/clarify that the only time the text on the PC display changes is when you're using PC+ Presets. You'd need to add a MIDI cable between Helix and PC+ and use CommandCenter to send the proper Program Change messages to change PC+ Presets from Helix, and in your Helix Presets disable Remote. Since that's a Global Setting made in the Preset (NOT the normal Global Settings), it's either/or.
  21. To get "computer sound" (YT, Spotify, backup tracks, streaming) you need to set the Playback device to Helix in the Windows Sound Panel. In Reaper Preferences, be sure that the Helix ASIO Driver has all of the I/O (1-8) selected. Reaper's output by default will go directly to Helix L/R Outputs, bypassing the signal chain. Make sure that in Global Settings>Ins/Outs>Headphones Monitor is set to Multi or whichever Output your Output Block is set to. If you're playing to pre-recorded tracks or VSTs in Reaper, you WANT only the direct sound to avoid latency. If you're using additional effects in Reaper, you want to engage the Record Monitoring Button on the track. This will add latency. Set the Output Block to USB 1/2. That prevents hearing the Direct Sound from Helix alongside the sound from Reaper, which would cause an "echo" effect due to the latency of the Reaper signal. EDIT: My previous comment about setting the Output Block to -120db applies when using HXS, in which case since the Output Block can't be changed from Main L/R you'd split the path to get Output 3/4 and take the Input to Reaper from USB/3/4 . Sorry for the confusion.
  22. In Global Settings/Pedals, try reversing the polarity. The way it's worded in the manual it would seen to only affect the Exp Pedals, but as the jacks are dual function, maybe it'll work.
