  1. It would be like dumping a lawnmower engine into a Corvette....
  2. Hmmm... well, when in doubt back everything up, then do a factory reset and/or reinstall the firmware. It's really the only "fix" there is for these things. If that doesn't work, it's service ticket time.
  3. Odd... global EQ isn't applied to the L6 Link, but should work just fine through the 1/4" out. Might sound stupid, but is it possible the adjustments you've applied are really subtle, and they're not making much difference when you engage the global EQ? Did you try applying some way over the top changes, just to be sure that it's really not doing anything?
  4. Bluetooth latency is sometimes horrible, depending on the unit in question. Even if you get it working, you may find that there's a significant delay between when you strike a note or chord, and when the sound actually arrives at your ears. Bluetooth headphones are fine for passive music listening because the latency is irrelevant...you don't even know it's there. But for this kind of application time is of the essence as it were, and a delay of much more than 20ms or so will be completely unusable. Also, it's very likely that the frequency response of those headphones is anything but flat...not great for creating modeled guitar tones. You need some new cans.
  5. The only people who actually know the answer ain't talking...they never do. L6 is notoriously tight-lipped about everything. But the smart money is on "no". They already have a line of FRFR speakers. All they'd accomplish is trading one sale for another.
  6. Minus a Ouija board, Magic 8 Ball, or divine intervention...no. You can't tell what firmware is installed just by staring at it.
  7. You're not gonna get rid of that. The tuning algorithms which create the 12 string effect are not perfect, and some weird tracking issues happen with harmonics, particularly if you strike more than one and allow them to ring together. It's not peculiar to the Shuriken... the JTV's all exhibit this too. There are YouTube videos demonstrating exactly what you're talking about. The technology has it's limits.
  8. Spec sheets lie. What's usually reported is peak wattage, not RMS. Besides, the pain threshold is around 120 dB...what are you actually gonna do with that extra 3 dB anyway? I recorded an entire album with a 7 watt Orange Dark Terror head. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DarkTerror That thing can melt concrete. Wattage does not equal volume.
  9. Unless you're actually running stereo, with two totally isolated signal paths running to separate amps/speakers, there's really nothing "dual" about your "dual amp" tone. It's just two amp models being summed to one mono output. That being the case, the question you're really asking is "how do I get patch A to sound like patch B?"...and the answer is the same as it always was: "turn knobs until they're similar". Try different combinations of amps, cabs, and mics...there's no mystery to it, and you're the only one who knows what you're looking for.
  10. You think you're the first musician to get bored with a piece of gear? If you want an amp, buy an amp. But let me save you the suspense..."perfect sound" doesn't exist. And if you think you're ever gonna reach the point where you'll never want something new, you're deluding yourself. You'd be the first guitarist in history to get there...
  11. Do whatever works for ya...but you couldn't pay me to start fiddling with EQ every time I pick up a different guitar. Especially live...there's no time for that. We have a unit with cavernous storage capacity. Enough, even for those who insist on having a different patch for every tune in their set list. Separate banks of patches for different guitars is a much simpler solution (and in the long run, a time saver), because you only have to set them up once, as opposed to constantly tweaking the global EQ every time you grab another instrument. Plus, most of your work is already done...take the patches you have and add an EQ block tweaked for a given guitar. Save, done. And I don't even want to contemplate the mental gymnastics of trying to remember, on the fly, what EQ settings suit which guitar. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. Pick up guitar, click footswitch, play...that's as simple as it'll ever get.
  12. lol. I love the emphatic "a pro would never" declarations. "I can't, won't, or don't...therefore nobody else could, would, or should". Awesome. Delusions must be fascinating...;)
  13. Amen to all of that... I use the 305's as well... biggest difference I find vs. headphones is the high end. A patch dialed in for the JBL's will typically have a bit to much treble when I switch to the cans. Two sets of patches is time well spent, unless you want to be tweaking back and forth all the time.
  14. If a tree falls in the forest...
  15. Happens every year about this time. You can practically set your watch by it...
  16. I didn't say it was difficult. Nothing is difficult when you know what you're doing...but some things are more time consuming than others, and I've got enough to tweak as it is. 9 more parameters to screw with beyond the high and low pass filters I'm currently using would have to yield results that are orders of magnitude better than what I've already got for it to be worth the bother...and I just don't see that happening. But that's just me...if it works and you like it, more power to you.
  17. For those who enjoy tweaking everything as much as possible, I suppose this would be appealing... but as long as I can pick a cab model I like (or external IR) and apply the usual hi/low cuts that work for me, this is just a whole lot of extra knobulating, only to wind up at the exact same place. I'll pass.
  18. Like ugly luggage and herpes, accounts are forever....
  19. Oh goody! I was beginning to fear that this thread might never reappear. Disaster averted. ;)
  20. There's a whole bunch of things you'll need to troubleshoot, and we're gonna need more information than that... what exactly happens, and when does it happen? Does it away occur with the same patch, when switching from one patch to another or toggling FX on/off, while you're playing, after the unit has been on and functioning normally for a while? How are you listening...through an amp, headphones, through a DAW with studio monitors, etc. etc.?
  21. Monday morning and it's already the Twilight Zone in here...lol
  22. It's been b!tched about for years on end but alas, there is no power switch. If you don't want to juggle the wall-wart constantly, power strips are your friend...
